Abstract: A grate for use in forming potato stick products having a wavy cross-sectional shape is provided. The grate includes a plurality of alternating convex segments and concave segments extending in a repeating pattern along a length of the grate. A plurality of spaced apart teeth extends from the plurality of convex segments and the plurality of concave segments. A distance between the spaced apart teeth defines a width of the potato stick products.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for removal of material residues, particularly tissue or similar porous, non-self-supporting materials, from a material-carrying core, which often has relatively large dimensions, e.g. a diameter of approx. 300 mm and a length of approx. 2540 mm, and thereby allow re-use of the core in the same way as new and unused cores a number of times for winding non-self-supporting or porous material, particularly tissue, wherein a cut section is made in the envelope surface of the roll having the material-carrying core from one end or end portion of the roll to the other end or end portion of the roll by means of a driven rotary knife, which is connected to a motor for rotation of the same.

Abstract: A slicing apparatus for a continuous slicing of products comprises a slicing unit having a movable cutting blade, a supply apparatus for a multi-track supply of the products to the slicing unit to cut off slices from the products and a removal apparatus for removing portions of cut-off slices along a transport direction. The removal apparatus has a first removal conveyor and a second removal conveyor arranged downstream of the first removal conveyor with respect to the transport direction. The slicing apparatus comprises a slicing apparatus provided between the first removal conveyor and the second removal conveyor for cut-off product parts to be discarded and a track combiner which is configured to take over portions not to be discarded in each case from a number of different conveyor tracks of the first removal conveyor consecutively in time and to combine them in a smaller number of tracks on the second removal conveyor.

Abstract: A method for adjusting screen brightness and system thereof are described. The method comprises: acquiring an attribute parameter of a screen image and a current screen brightness in a smartphone; comparing the attribute parameter of the screen image of the smartphone to the current screen brightness; and decreasing a screen display brightness when the attribute parameter is greater than the screen brightness; and increasing the screen display brightness when the attribute parameter is less than the screen brightness.

Abstract: An approach is provided for behavioral pattern generation for mixed reality objects. A mixed reality platform determines one or more computation closures for describing one or more user behavioral patterns associated with one or more digital objects of at least one augmented reality information space. The mixed reality platform then processes and/or facilitates a processing of one or more interactions with the one or more digital objects, one or more augmented reality applications associated with the at least one augmented reality information space, or a combination thereof to cause, at least in part, a determination of (a) the one or more user behavioral patterns from the one or more interactions, (b) the data acted on by the one or more computation closures, or (c) a combination thereof.

Abstract: Blade tilt mechanisms for table saws are disclosed. The disclosed tilt mechanisms provide easy and intuitive operation. They also provide auto-locking so that a user simply releases a component to lock the blade at a specific angle. The tilt mechanisms also provide defined incremental steps for the tilt of the blade and the steps are typically spaced at 1-degree intervals.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for executing, by a processor including a read-only cache, a program having a plurality of variables including a first variable and a second variable. Each variable is for executing a respective read operation or a respective write operation for an object. The method includes providing a first code that uses the read-only cache and a second code that does not use the read-only cache. The method further includes determining, by the processor, whether a first object designated by the first variable is aliased or not aliased with a second object designated by the second variable. The method also includes executing, by the processor, the first code when the first object is not aliased with the second object, and the second code when the first object is aliased with the second object.

Abstract: A Dust Capturing Device for Reciprocating Saws is disclosed. The device is attachable to a convenational shop vacuum cleaner so that virtually all dust created by the reciprocating saw at the cutting blade is captured by the vacuum cleaner. The system is universally attachable to all powered reciprocating saws on the market. A pair of suction hoses are snugly attached to the body of the saw, from intake ports located adjacent to the saw blade to an adapter manifold that combines the two suction hoses into a single hose adaptable to the vacuum cleaner hose. The hoses are attached to the body of the saw by one or more body straps, with each body strap having a pair of hose clips extending therefrom for restraining the two suction hoses running along the body.

Abstract: A computerized system and method are presented that provide access to a research archive for researching fundamental texts of a variety of spiritual and religious domains. The research archive is oriented around ideas having snippets from the fundamental texts. Each idea is associated with a single life issue tag and a religious or spiritual domain. Each idea is further associated with a fixed number of commentaries that comment on the snippet from the point of view of the religious domain and its relationship to the associated life issue tag. The fixed number of commentaries are each written with respect to a particular role. Customized study guides to the spiritual documents can be created using the commentaries by selecting religious or spiritual domains or life issue tags to choose a subset of commentaries to be displayed with the spiritual document.

Abstract: A saw bench having a first pair of legs and a second pair of legs. Between the first pair of legs and the second pair of legs are two cross members for material to be cut. A sawing kerf is formed between cross members. A first guide rail and/or a second guide rail for a sawing member is mounted on the saw bench in such a way that, during sawing of the material to be cut, the sawing member engages through the sawing kerf below a level of the material to be cut, which is held by the two cross members.

Abstract: Performing a user initiated search query is disclosed and comprises receiving user input comprising description details of at least one desired object, retrieving a plurality of objects from a database sharing one or more of the description details of the user input, constructing a tree data structure based on the description details of the plurality of objects, the tree data structure comprising one or more attributes related to each of the plurality of objects retrieved, displaying visual images associated with the retrieved plurality of objects, the visual images matching at least one of the attributes related to the plurality of objects, and receiving a user selection of one or more of the visual images.

Abstract: A chainsaw apparatus has a body having a handle formed thereon or attached thereto, a motor, a saw blade coupled to the body so as to be extendable in transverse relationship to the longitudinal axis of the body, and a chain movably positioned on the saw blade. Abstract: An information retrieval method for retrieving documents relevant to a user's search inquiry from documents stored in the storage device using an arithmetic operation. The method includes receiving from a user a search query including a plurality of keywords, calculating relevance to a plurality of documents on the basis of the plurality of keywords and the influence set for each keyword, and displaying on the display device documents in the order of relevance. The method also includes displaying on the display device the influence set for each keyword, receiving changes to the displayed influence by the user, and recalculating the relevance on the basis of a change to the influence and displaying on the display device documents in the order of relevance.

Abstract: Techniques for recommending media are described. A character preference function comprising a plurality of preference coefficients is accessed. A first character model comprises a first set of attribute values for the plurality of attributes of a first character. The first and second characters are associated with a first and second salience value, respectively. A second character model comprises a second set of attribute values for the plurality of attributes of a second character of the plurality of characters. A first character rating is calculated using the plurality of preference coefficients and the first set of attribute values. A second character rating of the second character is calculated using the plurality of preference coefficients with the second set of attribute values. A media rating is calculated based on the first and second salience values and the first and second character ratings. A media is recommended based on the media rating.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for selecting documents for review is provided. A master array of messages and topics for the messages is generated. The messages in the master array are sorted by the topics and the sorted messages are processed. During processing, each message in the master array is identified as unique, duplicate, or near duplicate. The unique messages are extracted from the duplicate and near duplicate messages, and entered into a log by creating a log entry for each of the unique messages. Each log entry includes a source of and identification information for one of the unique messages. The unique messages are then provided for document review.

Abstract: A deferred mechanism of rolling attribute changes to objects at transaction commit time is described. To support rolling updates, attributes are categorized into three types—increment, decrement or replace. Since transactions are committed in order, the update process uses a notification list of dependent transactions to propagate attribute changes as a function of attribute category or type. Shadow based file-systems (with or without object versioning) realize efficiency gains by employing the deferred mechanism.
