Abstract: Disclosed are a method for compression, decompression and progressive transmission of spatial data and a device thereof. A compression method for spatial data comprises: according to a preset view control parameter, acquiring a compression parameter Z; according to the view control parameter, determining a reference point P; according to the compression parameter Z, converting the coordinate values of the coordinate points of the spatial data and the coordinate value of the reference point P into integers; and using the differences of the values resulting from conversion of the coordinate values of the coordinate points of the spatial data into the integers and the values resulting from conversion of the coordinate values of the reference point P into integers as compressed data. Also disclosed are a method for determining the maximum data bit for storing spatial data, a method for inserting incremental data, a method for compressing and decompressing incremental data and a device thereof.

Abstract: A system that implements a scalable data storage service may maintain tables in a non-relational data store on behalf of clients. The system may provide a Web services interface through which service requests are received, and an API usable to request that a table be created, deleted, or described; that an item be stored, retrieved, deleted, or its attributes modified; or that a table be queried (or scanned) with filtered items and/or their attributes returned. An asynchronous workflow may be invoked to create or delete a table. Items stored in tables may be partitioned and indexed using a simple or composite primary key. The system may not impose pre-defined limits on table size, and may employ a flexible schema. The service may provide a best-effort or committed throughput model. The system may automatically scale and/or re-partition tables in response to detecting workload changes, node failures, or other conditions or anomalies.

Abstract: In an aspect, an eating utensil includes a controllable odorant emitter for delivering an odorant to a person who is eating or drinking from the eating utensil. The odorant may be delivered orthonasally or retronasally. The odorant may be used to stimulate or suppress appetite. In an aspect, a controllable odorant emitter is provided in an attachment that may be removably secured to an eating utensil. Related methods and systems for delivering odorant in connection with use of an eating utensil are described.

Abstract: Electric chain saw with static cooling features a cutting chain fitted so as to turn around a drive sprocket and a guide bar of oblong shape, and an electric motor effecting the drive of this chain, through the intermediary of the sprocket. The electric drive motor drive of the cutting chain is a brushless direct current motor enclosed in a housing formed by at least two components and made of a light metallic alloy, with one surface of the housing being in contact with the drive motor drive, to provide static cooling.

Abstract: An adjustment mechanism for an anvil roll has a body with first and second ends and a hollow interior. A bore extends from the first end into the hollow interior. The body is mountable to an axial end of the anvil roll at the first end. The hollow interior has first and second adjustment drives. The first adjustment drive extends from the second end of the body into the hollow interior and comprises a gear train with drive gears extending between a first adjustment operator and a first shaft extending from the body hollow interior through the bore of the body to the first end of the body. The second adjustment drive comprises a gear train with drive gears extending between a second adjustment operator and a second shaft extending from the hollow interior through the bore of the body to the first end of the body.

The display control device further includes an image data conversion unit that converts, if a second display method is specified by the setting information, the image data of the first display method type to image data of the second display method type in accordance with the control information. The display control device also includes a second interface unit that outputs the image data of the first or the second display method type in accordance with the setting information, and outputs signals for controlling the display unit in accordance with the control information.

Abstract: A method and system to suggest keywords to a social network member is described. A suggested keywords system, in one example embodiment, examines phrases that appear in profiles maintained by the on-line social networking system that are similar to the target profile and identifies those words and phrases that are most prominent in these profiles, utilizing discriminative strength values. These most prominent words and phrases may be presented to the target member as suggested keywords to be included in the member's professional summary.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide a hybrid buffer pool for a database that includes a plurality of data pages contained in storage. The hybrid buffer pool comprises: a shared buffer pool of page frames containing dirty data pages that are modified after reading that will be written back to storage; an immutable buffer pool that temporarily contains read-only data pages from the storage; and a page multiplexer that identifies which ones of the data pages from storage to store in the immutable buffer pool based at least in part on information from a query processor.

Abstract: A content adaptation method includes: obtaining a primary metadata profile associated with a particular time point of primary content; obtaining secondary metadata profiles each associated with corresponding secondary content of a plurality of secondary content; identifying one of the plurality of secondary content associated with a secondary metadata profile having a desired similarity value with the primary metadata profile associated with the primary content; and matching the identified secondary content with the particular time point of the primary content.

A concave surface (17) of the mount supports an elongate protrusion (18) for engaging a complementary slot (12) in the blade and reaches a landing (20) rearward of the tip that is exposed when the blade is mounted on the handle with a surface of the blade being completely supported by the concave surface. A channel (25) in the landing is dimensioned such that a rearmost part (26) thereof remains exposed when the blade is mounted on the handle. The method further includes entering a loop that includes: determining an address for a current index file; retrieving encoded data slices based on the address; decoding the encoded data slices to reproduce the current index file; determining whether the current index file includes the address for the data object; when the current index file does not include the address for the data object: identifying the other index file based on the search attribute; and repeating the loop for the other index file; and when the current index file includes the address for the data object, exiting the loop. The method further includes retrieving encoded data slices based on the address. The method further includes decoding the encoded data slices to recapture the data object.

Abstract: A miter saw includes a base, a table disposed on the base and having a top surface extending between a front end and a rear end of the table, a cutting assembly overlying the table, the cutting assembly including a rotatable cutting blade having a peripheral cutting edge, and a motor for driving the cutting blade. The miter saw has at least one guide rail interconnecting the table and the cutting assembly for guiding sliding movement of the cutting assembly over the table between a rear-most position and a forward-most position. A locking assembly is coupled with the cutting assembly for locking the cutting assembly in only one position between the rear-most position and the forward-most position. During a cutting operation, the locking assembly remains coupled with the cutting assembly while the cutting blade moves downwardly for preventing sliding movement of the cutting assembly.

An assisted opening mechanism is operatively coupled between the blade and the handle, and is configured to provide an opening-assist to the blade. An engagement mechanism is also provided, which is switchable between an engaged condition, in which the assisted opening mechanism is enabled, and a disengaged condition, in which the assisted opening mechanism is disabled such that it does not provide an opening assist to the blade.
