  • Patent number: 7418005
Abstract: When a signal cable is connected between communication nodes 0, 1 which comply with a communication protocol that inhibits loop connection, communication node 0 detecting connection of the signal cable transmits a loop test signal LT having information of a port where connection was detected (e.g., information of a transfer rate between ports). In response to the loop test signal LT, a communication node 2 adds information of its own port that received the loop test signal LT, that is, P(2, 1), to the received loop test signal LT, and repeats the loop test signal LT. Similarly, communication node 1 adds information of its own port that received the loop test signal LT, that is, P(1, 0), to the loop test signal LT. Communication node 0 specifies a suitable disconnection point of a loop (e.g., a port having a low transfer rate between ports) based on the port information thus accumulated.

  • Patent number: 7414983
Abstract: In the present technique of a data transmission management, responsive to a reselection during a data transmission, a determination (314, 514) is made as to whether remaining untransmitted data blocks of the data transmission can be sent within an allowed transmission time. If so, the remaining untransmitted data blocks are transmitted (318, 518) to complete the data transmission. If, however, the remaining untransmitted data blocks cannot be transmitted within the allowed transmission time, the communication link is terminated (312, 510) to stop the downlink data transmission with a serving station.

  • Patent number: 7414991
Abstract: A method for selecting data packets includes including identifying available data packets for transmission, determining a number of time-slots available for the transmission, identifying data packet types that fit into the available time-slots and meet a minimum transfer length requirement, and determining whether any of the identified data packet types are capable of transmitting the entire required data length. If so, a data packet type capable of transmitting most data in the shortest time is chosen for the transmission from the data packet types capable of transmitting the entire required data length. If not, a data packet type capable of transmitting most data in the shortest time is chosen for the transmission from the identified data packet types.

  • Patent number: 7406043
Abstract: A system and method, e.g., Voice Proxy Server (VPS), is described for managing Voice over IP (VoIP) services between a NAT enabled private network and a public network such as the Internet. The VPS acts like the Call Agent to the nodes in the private network and it represents an embedded voice client to the real Call Agent in the public network. Each logical line of the VPS corresponds to a real voice line in the private node. VoIP signaling messages may be carried in the payload of the IP packets. VPS will properly translate IP address and/or port number information in the payload to correctly route the signaling data between networks. Additionally, VPS will forward the incoming Real Time Protocol (RTP) packets to the real destination in the private network.

  • Patent number: 7400581
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a novel method of implementing a network communication protocol. In one embodiment, the state of the network communication process is determined based upon one or more conditions. The protocol stack is then executed as a single thread of execution if the network communication process is in a first state. Alternatively, the protocol stack is executed as a receive thread of execution and a drainer thread of execution if the network communication process is in a second state.

  • Patent number: 7394757
Abstract: A subscriber link to a central office which employs data compression, forward error correction, and advanced modulation techniques and to connect subscribers to multiple communications networks to provide an array of services. A device provides normal telephone service in the event of an equipment failure. At the subscriber end, a server called an intelligent services director (ISD) provides multiple independent connections for telephones which ordinarily connect to multiple access virtual circuits generated on the subscriber link over a twisted pair. A device called a facilities management platform (FMP) at the central office end of the link, among other things, provides interfacing of the subscriber link to various networks including a digital subscriber loop (DLC) and packet switched networks. Ordinarily telephones connected to the ISD require power and correctly functioning modems and controllers in the ISD and the FMP to have access to the outside world.

  • Patent number: 7394806
Abstract: A wide-coverage, high-capacity, switching network is modeled after a classical space-time-space switch. In the switching network, each of the space stages comprises geographically distributed optical space switches and the time stage comprises a plurality of geographically distributed high-capacity electronic switching nodes. User-access concentrators, each supporting numerous users, access the network through ports of the distributed optical space switches. A user-access concentrator is a simple device which need only have a single access channel to access the network, although two or more access channels may be used. Such a user-access concentrator can communicate with a large number of other user-access concentrators by time-multiplexing the access channel.

  • Patent number: 7382769
Abstract: Techniques are described for preventing network attacks. More specifically, the techniques involve classification of routes based on the network protocol from which the routes were learned, and filtering of packets based on the classification. A network device, for example, is described that includes interface cards to receive routing information via one or more routing protocols, wherein the routing information defines network routes. The network device further includes a control unit to classify the routes based the routing protocol by which the routes were received, and selectively forward packets associated with the routes based on the classification of the routes. Edge routers within a server provider network, for example, may classify routes as either “internal” or “external” based on the protocols from which the routes were learned, and automatically filter packets to prevent network attacks using the techniques.

  • Patent number: 7376094
Abstract: Based on a selected criterion, a BTS (Base Transceiver Station) for each mobile station (MS) determines an antenna pattern in a reverse channel, based on combined weight factors in weighed combining of signals from antenna array elements during MS signal receiving, and in the forward channel, based on combined weight factors in weighed combining of signals from antenna array elements during MS signal transmission. The antenna pattern determined in the forward channel is performed by the reverse channel signal. The antenna pattern determined in the forward channel is based on the estimate of the angle signal area of mobiles station that is the average angle of signal arrival and its angle sector or on the estimate of average angle of signal arrival only. To determine the desired signal angular area, a decision function is proposed, where powerful interference canceling is implemented.

  • Patent number: 7366146
Abstract: A data communication system includes a server, data link started side apparatus, data link starting side apparatus, and originating server. The server provides a service through a network. The data link started side apparatus performs line control between itself and the line connection destination, and performs LAN control between itself and the server through the network, thereby relaying packets between the line connection destination and the server. The data link starting side apparatus is connected to the data link started side apparatus, disconnects the line between itself and the data link started side apparatus on the basis of an MITF dial-up dormant protocol when there is no communication between itself and the server for a predetermined period of time, and shifts to a dormant state.
