  • Patent number: 8576694
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for dynamically assigning orthogonal codes to different information signals communicated between a Node B and user equipment in a cellular radio communication system in which a fixed number of codes are allocated between dedicated transport channels (DCHs) and high speed downlink shared channels (HS-DSCHs). A radio controller (RNC) allocates a minimum number of codes for HS-DSCH physical channels (HS-PDSCH codes) to the Node B. The Node B determines HS-PDSCH codes that are not currently being utilized and allocates HS-PDSCH codes from the unused codes without having to communicate with the RNC. When the additional HS-PDSCH codes are needed for DCH codes, the Node B reallocates the codes for DCH purposes without reducing the number of HS-PDSCH codes below the allocated minimum.

  • Patent number: 8565078
Abstract: An ATM switching system 1 is provided with an ATM switch 11, a reserved connection memory 12 for storing reserved connection information, a call history memory 13 for maintaining call histories of requests for connection from subscriber's terminal units 2?1 to 2?n, and a call-signal processing section 15. The call-signal processing section 15 generates a request for connection with respect to a trunk ATM switching network 3 by the use of the call histories in the call history memory 13 in the case where no call was issued from the subscriber's terminal units, and stores response results thereof in the reserved connection memory 16. Thereafter, when there was a call from the subscriber's terminal units 2?1 to 2?n and contents of the request for connection thereof are the same as the reserved connection information, which has been stored in the reserved connection memory 16, processing for connection is executed by the use of the reserved connection information.

  • Patent number: 8542680
Abstract: A system and a process for a session layer protocol allows a large number of client machines to receive a reliable data stream over inherently unreliable multicast connections in a highly efficient and scalable manner. More specifically, streaming of high-quality video, audio, stock and news tickers, or any other application specific data that requires a reliable data stream is described. The streaming allows for the source to instruct individuals to drop their connection to the stream to prevent noisy individuals from disrupting the operating efficiency of the stream.

  • Patent number: 8537859
Abstract: A system comprises a processor, a reassembly buffer that receives mini-packets, and at least one data structure that comprises bits. The bits indicate the presence or absence of each of the mini-packets in the reassembly buffer and further indicate whether one of the mini-packets is a final mini-packet in a series of the mini-packets. The processor uses the bits to determine whether all mini-packets forming the series are present in the reassembly buffer. As a result of the determination, the processor causes the series to be read from the reassembly buffer.

  • Patent number: 8538435
Abstract: A networked computing system including multiple network base stations, user equipment, a network resource controller (NRC), and a data communications network facilitating communications amongst all devices of the networked computing system. The NRC determines a current radio channel available capacity based on a user load associated with regional user equipment, and then forecasts a maximum radio channel capacity based on the current radio channel available capacity. The NRC may be a network base station and it may determine a number of additional user equipment it can support as a component of the forecast maximum radio channel capacity. The NRC/base station may be further configured to determine a handover threshold utilizing the forecast maximum radio channel capacity, and when the NRC base station's number of users exceeds the handover threshold, one or more user equipment may be handed over to a second network base station with better service capacity.

  • Patent number: 8526431
Abstract: A method for registration of multiple entities belonging to a specific optical network unit (ONU). In one embodiment, the multiple entity registration method comprises checking by an optical line terminal (OLT) if a registration request message received from the specific ONU belongs to a certain grant, and based on the check result, registering an entity as either a first or as an additional entity of the specific ONU. In another embodiment, the method comprises checking by an OLT of a reserved value of a flags field inside a registration request message, and based on the check result, registering an entity as either a first or as an additional entity of the specific ONU. The knowledge by an OLT that multiple entities belong to a specific ONU is used for grant optimization and packet data flow optimization.

  • Patent number: 8520538
Abstract: An inspection node receives an event to begin monitoring a traffic flow where the event comprises a flow identifier associated with the traffic flow. The inspection node receives the traffic flow where the traffic flow comprises a plurality of packets and begins inspecting the plurality of the packets to obtain an application identifier. Based upon the flow identifier and the application identifier, the inspection node performs a sampling process on the traffic flow. After determining the end of the traffic flow, the inspection node terminates the sampling process.

  • Patent number: 8498310
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product that facilitates communication between devices that implement at least one proprietary feature in a DOCSIS-compliant broadband communication system. A logical channel is established for communication between a first device, such as a cable modem termination system (CMTS), that implements at least one proprietary feature, and other devices that also implement the at least one proprietary feature. Registration information is then received from a second device, such as a cable modem, wherein the registration information indicates that the second device also implements the at least one proprietary feature. In response to receiving the registration information, the second device is assigned to the logical channel.

  • Patent number: 8462614
Abstract: In one embodiment, a buffer-based method for generating codes (such as Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor (OVSF) codes) for spreading and despreading data, without using a chip-rate counter. First, a buffer is populated with initial values based on a received spreading factor and desired code index. Next, a timing strobe is received, and the values in the buffer are changed upon receipt of the timing strobe based on an algorithm that is independent of any count value associated with the timing strobe. Finally, a code sequence value is generated based on the values in the buffer.

  • Patent number: 8462675
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a control connection is introduced between an adaptive jitter buffer (AJB) and an adaptive bulk delay (ABD) buffer of an echo canceller (ECAN) in an Internet Protocol (IP) conference bridge. The control connection allows the AJB to control the amount of delay inserted by the ABD in the ECAN convolution processor (CP) signal path. The adjustment in ABD delay restores the time alignment of the ECAN internal echo estimate and offsets variations in echo tail delay introduced by network induced AJB delay changes. Time-invariance is preserved in the echo tail path.
