Patent number: 9859953Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for using proximity sensing systems, such as Bluetooth low energy (LE) beacons, to uniquely identify remote computing systems, such as point of sale terminals. A mobile device includes an antenna, a baseband modem, and a contactless frontend, and is able to perform near-field communication transactions. The mobile device antenna receives radio communications from one or more Bluetooth LE beacons, the transmissions including data packets with a unique identifier. The mobile device calculates the signal strength of the one or more Bluetooth LE beacons at a time proximate to when a near-field communication transaction is initiated. The mobile device stores in its memory the data packet associated with the Bluetooth LE beacon broadcasting the strongest signal.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2015Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: GOOGLE INC.Inventors: Kai P. Patent number: 9860804Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for transmitting a measurement report during wireless communications. When, for example, a low-power period (e.g., CDRX OFF period) is scheduled to begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer (TTT timer), a UE may modify the low-power period. The low-power period may be modified based, at least in part on determining the low-power period of the UE will begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer, a duration of the measurement event timer, and a duration of the low-power period. Modifying the low-power period may include delaying the start of the low-power state until after transmission of the MR associated with the measurement event timer or skipping the low-power period altogether. The UE may transmit the MR based, at least in part, on the modification.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2014Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Yongle Wu, Vishu Kumar, Amit Mahajan, Udayan Murli Bhawnani, Won-Joon Choi, Shivratna Giri Srinivasan, Osama Nafeth Saleem Alrabadi, Dominique Francois Bressanelli, Marian Madan, Mohamed Khalifa, Florina Andreea Prisecaru

Patent number: 9706450Abstract: A common group cell identifier is transmitted by adjacent base stations. Handover processing is minimized for mobile relays traveling along a predetermined path that traverses the adjacent base stations. A first base station along the path transmits a group cell identifier and a first single cell identifier within a first service area. An adjacent base station transmits the group cell identifier and a second single cell identifier within a second service area that at least partially overlaps the first service area. The mobile relay monitors the group cell identifier in certain situations and only performs a handover when the group cell identifier changes. As a result, no handovers are initiated as the mobile relay travels down the path since the group cell identifier transmitted by the base stations along the path are the same.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2012Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: Kyocera CorporationInventors: Henry Chang, Doug Dunn, Amit Kalhan, David Comstock
