  • Patent number: 7489775
Abstract: An input method using standard numeric keypad which complies with CCITT standards and comprises a plurality of CCITT standard keys is disclosed. Each CCITT standard key has a corresponding CCITT key value. The method comprises the steps of: reassigning a first CCITT key value with an actuating key value of a first function; checking if the first CCITT key value is input, if “YES” then actuating the first function to reassign every CCITT key value with a new input key value of predetermined function; and, checking if any CCITT key value is input, if “YES” then performing the predetermined function corresponding to that input CCITT key value based on the first function. Therefore, all functions of the input method can be operated by using merely the CCITT standard keys without the need for other non-standard function keys.

  • Patent number: 7471788
Abstract: The present invention is an echo canceller for sparse channels in an echo channel. The echo channel receives a far-end input and a near-end input. An enable generator asserts a sparse update enable in response to detecting at least one of the double talk condition and an impulse response change. A main weight updater transfers shadow weights of the shadow filter to N sets of sparse weights in N sparse filters of the main filter according to the sparse update enable. A sparse main filter filters the far-end input non-adaptively to generate a main output. A long shadow filter filters the far-end input adaptively to generate a shadow output and to estimate delays of peaks of the sparse weights in the main filter.

  • Patent number: 7466817
Abstract: Tone generating sequence data are sequentially read out in accordance with a performance sequence, and tone generation control parameters are decoded from the read-out sequence data. The decoded tone generation control parameters are sequentially written into a control register. Tone signals are generated on the basis of the tone generation control parameters written in the control register. Pattern register stores pattern data representative of a time series of driven states to be taken by a plurality of light emitting elements. On the basis of the tone generation control parameters written in the control register, the pattern data stored in the pattern register are sequentially output to illuminate the light emitting elements. Particular pattern data may be stored in association with a particular caller so that, when an incoming call has been received from the particular caller, the pattern data specific to the particular caller are read out to illuminate the light emitting elements.

  • Patent number: 7466819
Abstract: A system for generating, delivering and distributing electrical power to network elements over a data communication network infrastructure within a building, campus or enterprise. Consolidating power distribution and data communications over a single network simplifies and reduces the cost of network element installation and provides a means of supplying uninterrupted or backup power to critical network devices in the event of a power failure. The invention includes power/data combiners that combine a data communication signal with a low frequency power signal. The combined signal is transported over the LAN infrastructure where a power/data splitter extracts the data signal and the power signal and generates two separate outputs. The power over LAN system of the present invention operates with high bandwidth data communication networks, i.e., 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps.

  • Patent number: 7463733
Abstract: An interference cancellation method for use in a communications system in which a plurality of communication paths are arranged to transmit and receive respective analogue signals comprises effecting an initialization phase to calculate, for each path, the interference effects of the signals transmitted on that path on the signals received on each of the other paths, and storing for each a plurality of weighting factors representing the interference on each of the other paths respectively. During transmission, said weighting factors are used to generate from the transmitted signal on one of the said paths and to apply said cancellation signals to signals received on said other paths, thereby to cancel the interference effect of said transmitted signals.

  • Patent number: 7460662
Abstract: A method and apparatus for isolating transmit and receive signals in a communication system utilizing a common channel for both incoming and outgoing signals. In one embodiment a tuned hybrid or isolation circuit is provided with a high-frequency pre-emphasis response. The tuned hybrid rejects the transmit signal from the receive port and is capable of isolating the low power receive signal. One or more filters within the hybrid provide the desired levels of attenuation and frequency specific processing. Outgoing transmit signals encounter minimal attenuation thereby reducing overall transmit power requirements while receive signals are isolated. The tuned hybrid may be configured with an all-pass network consisting of an attenuator and a delay element. Both of these devices or elements maybe tuned to tailor the frequency response to the channel.

  • Patent number: 7460499
Abstract: An on-chip reduced complexity modulation noise estimation mechanism for performing nonlinear signal processing to analyze modulation noise to determine whether a semiconductor device under test complies with the performance criteria set by specifications or a standard corresponding thereto. When used in a two-point transmitter modulation architecture, the mechanism relies on the fact that the noise statistics at the output of the transmitter can be determined by observing the phase error output of the phase detector within the phase locked loop. In the digital embodiment of the mechanism, the phase error signal is compared to a configurable threshold value to generate an exception event. If the number of exception events exceeds a configurable max_fail value after comparisons of a configurable number of phase error samples, the test fails. A pass/fail signal is output reflecting the result of the test.
