The beam is tunable by changing the stiffness thereof, or the length thereof, or the cross-sectional moment thereof, in order to control the resonant frequency of the brushhead assembly system relative to the drive frequency of the appliance to maintain the amplitude of the brush member within a range of 1.0-2.5 mm, preferably 1.75 mm.
