The element is self-sealing and can be used to transmit fluid pressure between tubular interconnected members.

The driven element and the sleeve and the end of the torsion spring remote from the flanged end are secured in rigid relationship. The reservoir within the barrel is filled with viscous damping fluid.

    Abstract: An improved drive for use as between the engine and the clutch or transmission of a motorcycle and as between the clutch or transmission and the drive wheel. Instead of a metallic chain, a toothed timing belt of flexible or synthetic fabric material is used. The belt teeth of the pulleys on the shaft of the engine, on the shaft of the clutch or transmission and on the shaft of the rear wheel are machined to have a shape and configuration to adapt them to receive the teeth on the timing belt. The same type of belt is used between the engine and the clutch or transmission and between the clutch or transmission and the rear wheel. In the preferred form of the invention a sleeve housing is provided with peripheral teeth and of a shape to fit back over the clutch or transmission.

Thus, the modulus of shearing strain of the surface portions of the elastomer ring at the side is smaller than that of an inside portion of the same so as to eliminate any pretension of the surfaces of the elastomer ring.

The drive shaft has male splines and the externally-toothed member has female splines in the central bore, engaging the male splines. The front face of the externally-toothed member has a recess including a stop surface generally perpendicular to the axis of the device and the drive shaft has a shoulder extending radially outward and engaging the stop surface to limit the axial movement of the drive shaft into the central bore. Wear is minimized because the mating stop surface and shoulder are rotating at the same speed and, preferably, the shoulder "nutates" with respect to the stop surface.

    Abstract: Upon pushbutton depression, a face in the key slot of a button slide forcibly engages the T lug extending from a tuner slide, thereby translating the tuner slide. Coupled to the tuner slide is a memory cam the angular position of which is presettable, corresponding to a desired receiver tuning. The cam is forced to engagement with a tuning mechanism which senses the angular position of the cam and tunes the receiver accordingly. The face is predeterminedly curved, and the vertical height of the slot so dimensioned, to decouple vertical deflections of the button slide from the tuner slide, thus minimizing deviations of the cam from its preselected position. When mounted in a chassis, the chassis is provided with a guide detail which further minimizes vertical deflection of the tuner slide.

    Abstract: A reproduction machine having a document scanning system has an improved recycling clutch for operating the system. The clutch has a rotatable input plate and a rotatable output plate. An annular pawl plate pivotally mounted on the input plate has a driving surface which is biased into engagement with a pin on the output plate. A rotatable timing element driven by the input plate periodically contacts a cam surface on the outer periphery of the pawl plate to disengage the driving surface from the pin to effect release of the clutch at intervals greater than a revolution of the input plate. The cam surface maintains the disengagement of the driving surface from the output plate for a sufficient length of time to permit rotation of the latter in the reverse direction greater than one revolution via a biasing spring.
