  • Patent number: 6693244
Abstract: An integrated element scale is provided that can replace an existing support structure within a piece of equipment to achieve a piece of equipment with the integrated scale. The integrated element scale may contain one or more load cells and be configured to replace a standard component used in the assembly of certain types of equipment. The integrated element may include a mechanism to align the load portion and support portion of the element with the load cell or load cells in between them. The integrated element may further include a mechanism for protecting the load cells from damage due to overload or under load as well as side impacts. When higher accuracy is required, the integrated element further may include a mechanism for decoupling the loads within each element from other load cells within the same element or other elements so that horizontal loading between the deflecting load cells does not occur.

  • Patent number: 6693245
Abstract: A Roberval's mechanism and a lever are configured separately. To the Roberval's mechanism, a lever housing section is formed for inserting the lever in the longitudinal direction and enabling the lever to be located between a pair of the upper and the lower Roberval's sections. To the other end of the lever, a section extending outwards beyond the lever housing section is equipped. A balance driving portion are mounted to the section equipped to the other end of the lever and extending outwards. The lever block is situated to extend through a hollowed out section of the fixed end of the Roberval load block. During manufacture, the lever is formed from a separate piece that has temporary bridges formed to maintain the fixed section and the mobile sections relatively immobile so that the spring sections are protected during assembly. After the lever is connected to the Roberval mechanism, the bridges are cut.

  • Patent number: 6692567
Abstract: A seismic weigh-in-motion system (12) which utilizes a seismic sensor (32) mounted, off-pavement of the highway prior to the point at which the truck (10) enters the deceleration lane at the truck weighing station. The sensor (32) senses seismic vibrations which are transferred into the ground by the moving truck (10). Signals indicative of these vibrations are transmitted through a fiber optic cable (44) connected to a main processor (42) mounted in the weigh-in station. These vibration signals along with signals proportional to the speed of the truck (determined by speed detecting devices/processes (34, 36)) as the truck moves down the highway is processed in the processor (42) to provide an output which is indicative of the weight of the truck. Additional components such as soil temperature (28) and soil moisture content (30) measuring devices provide additional inputs to the processor (42) to increase accuracy of the system.

  • Patent number: 6689964
Abstract: A mechanical weighing scale having mechanical parts driving a pointer rotating around a fixed disc or dial having slots or holes formed therein. The mechanical pointer operates to provide an analog display of one's weight to the user. An optical sensor system is responsive to the mechanical motion of the mechanically-rotating pointer as it passes over each of the holes or slots for determining a number of counts associated with the mechanical motion of the rotating pointer and translating the counts to a corresponding weight value for display onto a digital display.

  • Patent number: 6690623
Abstract: A multi-functional timepiece with multicolor time display is a watch or free-standing clock in which the current time is determined by the use of a series of colored lights around the face of the watch. The face has the current layout associated with conventional watches, with the number 12 on top and numbers 1-11 evenly spaced around the perimeter. However, in lieu of hour hands, minute hands and second hands, the invention uses a series light to indicate the time. A group of red lights indicate the hour, a series of yellow lights indicate the minutes, and a series of green lights indicates the seconds. The light is transmitted from a central source via fiber optic tubes. Other functions such as day and date indications are provided in the conventional manner.
