  • Patent number: 9071923
Abstract: A mobile device includes an automatic archiver program which configures a processor to identify an unused application which satisfies one or more predetermined archiving criteria, and prompts a user to archive the identified application via a user interface. A user interface is provided such that the user may either confirm or decline archiving of the identified application. Upon receiving user input that confirms archiving of the identified application, the application is archived. Several techniques are disclosed to effectively render the application inaccessible by the operating system, so as to prevent the application from executing any background tasks associated with the archived application. The automatic archiver program has root level access to an operating system of a mobile device such that the program may perform access, create, modify and/or delete operations for archiving private data as part of archiving of the application.

  • Patent number: 9060383
Abstract: A method for deciding if a telecommunication device has to be switched in an operating mode which is different from the operating mode in which the telecommunication is operating. In an operating mode, the telecommunication device relays signals transferred between a terminal and an access node which handles the terminal. In another operating mode, the telecommunication device handles the terminal. The method includes: determining, from obtained information, if a predetermined event occurs, and if the predetermined event occurs, deciding that a handover of the terminal has to be conducted between the access node and the telecommunication device, and deciding that the telecommunication device has to switch in an operating mode which is different from the operating mode in which the telecommunication is operating.

  • Patent number: 9037114
Abstract: A method for applying personalized rules to an incoming e-mail message includes receiving an e-mail message addressed to a user and forwarding a copy of the e-mail message to a mobile communication device associated with the user. One or more pre-defined rules associated with the user are applied to the e-mail message. At least one of the pre-defined rules is identified that the e-mail message satisfies. The identified rule specifies that a text message such as an SMS message be sent to the mobile communication device indicating that an e-mail message satisfying the pre-defined rule has been received. The text message includes a link that allows the user to directly access the e-mail with the mobile communication device's user interface.

  • Patent number: 9031541
Abstract: A system and method are described in which direct communication between a removable tamper-resistant module in a mobile terminal and a third party server is permitted only after security information is transmitted indirectly through a secure server in a mobile network operator that provides mobile communication services to the mobile terminal. The third party server is logically located outside of the mobile network operator. The secure server is configured to be able to communicate with the removable tamper-resistant module via the secure communication link. The information is transmitted from the removable tamper-resistant module to the third party server or from the third party server to the removable tamper-resistant module and includes a key for encryption or decryption or a certificate for verifying data or program transmissions therebetween.

  • Patent number: 9020512
Abstract: A radio signal transmission method is used in a radio signal transmission system having a core network (CN), at least one base station and at least one user equipment (UE). After the UE initiates a circuit switch (CS) call, the base station determines whether to activate CS off-loading. If to activate CS off-loading, the base station determines whether identification (ID) codes of all call parties reside on the same base station or on the same group of base stations of the system. If yes, the base station determines whether to off-load only the user-plane data. If yes, the CN controls the signaling and the user-plane data is directly forwarded to another call party; otherwise, the base station processes a signaling and the user-plane data is directly forwarded to another call party via the base station.

  • Patent number: 9008612
Abstract: A system monitors calls for a service provider. A number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type is monitored for either inbound communications and/or outbound communications associated with at least one service provider. A determination is made if the number of simultaneous communications from the service provider is in excess of a adjustable but set number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type that are permissible. A predetermined action is taken if the number of simultaneous calls or text messages (e.g., SMS, IM, email) is in excess of the set limit, e.g., the call may be terminated or other action taken. Both voice communications and/or non-voice communications (such as SMS, IM, Email, or MMS) can be monitored and throttled.

  • Patent number: 8995975
Abstract: A hardware and/or software facility measures end user activity associated with a software application or service on a mobile phone or other mobile device. The facility tracks and stores usage data associated with a mobile user's use of the application or service. When the mobile user initiates transmission of the usage data, the facility retrieves from the mobile phone or other mobile device a usage code representing the usage data. The facility relies on user transcription, text input-buffer insertion, or other indirect means of data transport to deliver the usage code from the mobile phone or other mobile device to an application developer, service provider, or another entity. The recipient extracts the usage data contained in the usage code, and may perform various data mining and analysis techniques on the usage data in order to evaluate how the application or service is used.

  • Patent number: 8953485
Abstract: A wireless communication method between a first network and a second network is disclosed. The first network includes UEs such as the first UE and the second UE, a gateway device, and a core network. The disclosed method includes enabling the gateway device to learn UE-related parameters of the UEs by selectively transmitting a first request to the core network or a second request to the UEs before enabling the gateway device to receive the UE-related parameters. The method further includes broadcasting the UE-related parameters to the UEs, and enabling the gateway device to coordinate with the UEs. In doing so, the UE having the data to be transmitted may rely on another UE having the active interface for accomplishing the transmission of the data without switching operation modes of interfaces of the UE having the data to be transmitted.
