  • Patent number: 9384235
Abstract: Using a first computer, a content transformation agent is customized for a first source data repository that stores source data. The content transformation agent is provided to the first source data repository. In accordance with the customization, a first stage data feed is constructed in the syndication format by dynamically selecting and transforming within the first source data repository selected data primitives of the source data from the non-syndication format into the first stage data feed in the syndication format. The first stage data feed is sent to an aggregation agent. The aggregation agent receives the first stage data feed from the content transformation agent. Based on specific user criteria, a second stage data feed is generated in a syndication format as a union of selected data primitives from the first stage data feed.

  • Patent number: 9330420
Abstract: A method and computer for managing analysis of sentiment is disclosed. A computer retrieves data used to perform the analysis of sentiment. The computer analyzes the data and the analysis of sentiment to determine if a gap exists requiring further processing to improve the analysis of sentiment. Responsive to a determination that the gap exists requiring further processing to improve the analysis of sentiment, the computer generates a task to address the gap. The computer then uses crowdsourcing to submit the generated task for processing.

  • Patent number: 9298852
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for reranking query completions based on activity session data. One of the methods includes receiving a query prefix from a user. Query completions are obtained for the query prefix. One or more likely queries that are likely to co-occur with a reference query in user activity sessions are obtained. If one of the likely queries matches one of the query completions, a modified ranking of the query completions is determined, including boosting a ranking of matching query completions. The modified ranking of the query completions is provided in response to receiving the query prefix.

  • Patent number: 9286348
Abstract: A method is described of dynamically searching a search domain. A first result set of data objects is presented. The first result set is obtained from a first search of a search domain having active and inactive data objects for first search features obtained from a source data object. An update is detected in the search domain. Key features are extracted from the source data object to be included in second search features when the update in the search domain is in the source data object. A second search of the updated search domain is performed for data objects having the second search features.

  • Patent number: 9262416
Abstract: Memoizable functions may be identified by analyzing a function's side effects. The side effects may be evaluated using a white list, black list, or other definition. The side effects may also be classified into conditions which may or may not permit memoization. Side effects that may have de minimus or trivial effects may be ignored in some cases where the accuracy of a function may not be significantly affected when the function may be memoized.

  • Patent number: 9235870
Abstract: A system and method for documenting evidence. Investigators are provided a mobile client device enabling them to document evidence directly at a crime scene. Documentation is provided to an evidence gathering module which collects the documentation and stores it to an evidence database. Once the investigation is complete, a chain of custody document is generated. Documentation is time and date stamped and each documented item of evidence is linked to the particular investigator that documented it. The mobile client device provides automated location and environmental data, reducing error and overhead for the investigator.

  • Patent number: 9177011
Abstract: A system and a method for locating application-specific data that has been previously deleted and located in an address of the data storage device marked as being available for storing new data. The method includes accessing unidentified data from at least one data storage device; examining the unidentified data to detect at least one application-specific data pattern associated with at least one application; for each detected application-specific data pattern, executing an application-specific validation process to determine whether the unidentified data includes valid data associated with a corresponding application; and if it is determined that the unidentified data includes valid data associated with the corresponding application, then recovering the valid data.

  • Patent number: 9158860
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus are described herein that includes identifying a partial query entered into a search field. A query completion template is then provided for display for a category of information associated with one or more terms within the partial query, the query completion template including an interactive field that is user editable. User interaction with the interactive field is the identified. Display of the query completion template is then updated to include the results of the user interaction within the interactive of the query completion template. User selection of the updated query completion template is then identified, and in response the updated display of the query completion template is transmitted as a search query.

  • Patent number: 9092469
Abstract: Techniques described herein generally relate to processing data sets. The data sets can each include multiple indexed data values that can be partitioned into first and second portions. Each data value in each of the first portions of the data sets may have a greater magnitude than each data value in each of the second portions of the data sets. The first portions and second portions of the data values can be further processed by either different processors, or different processor cores as may be desirable.

  • Patent number: 9009107
Abstract: An object-sharing method used in a object sharing system is provided. The object-sharing method comprises the steps outlined below. An object-sharing request that intends to share an object in a first object storage to a second object storage is received. First and second object paths are compared. Whether a naming conflict condition occurs is determined. The second object storage receives the object and keeps the first object path when the naming conflict condition does not occur. The second object storage receives the object and merges the first and the second object paths when the naming conflict condition occurs and the first and the second object storages are from the same user. An alternative sharing destination is generated to receive the object when the naming conflict condition occurs and the first and the second object storages are not from the same user.

  • Patent number: 8943101
Abstract: A keyword related to a user's interest is acquired. A keyword acquiring device including a tree storage unit that stores a keyword tree obtained by performing hierarchization according to the number of appearances and relevance in advance using a keyword associated with content as a node records a keyword associated with content previously selected by a user as a log, extracts a plurality of keywords based on a predetermined condition from a log corresponding to a certain user recorded in the log, extracts a partial tree including the extracted keywords from the keyword tree, and acquires a keyword in a node having no other lower node as a keyword related to the user's interest.

  • Patent number: 8924433
Abstract: Records of geotemporal data for a plurality of users from a database associated with on-line and/or mobile cellular activities are used to generate a geotemporal fingerprint of a user. The geolocation history associated with the user's on-line and/or mobile cellular activities from one such database can be correlated with a user's geolocation data from a separate on-line database associated with a different activity. For example, the geolocation history or geotemporal fingerprints associated with on-line and/or mobile cellular activities from one particular database can be correlated with those associated with payment card usage. Such information can be used to authenticate a user, for example, as a security measure for payment card users and issuers, for registrationless credit security applications, and for gathering relevant data for advertising campaigns.

  • Patent number: 8874548
Abstract: There are provided a system and method for predicting query execution time in a database system. A cost model determination device determines a cost model of a database query optimizer for the database system. The cost model models costs of queries applied to the database system. A profiling device determines profiling queries for profiling input/output cost units and processor cost units relating to the database system, and profiles the cost units using the profiling queries to output profiled cost units. A calibrating device calibrates cost units in the cost model responsive to the profiled cost units to output calibrated cost units. A sampling re-estimator samples and re-estimates a cardinality estimation of a final query plan to output an updated cardinality estimation. A predictor applies the calibrated cost units and the updated cardinality estimation in the cost model to generate a prediction of an execution time of a given query.
