Abstract: A wheelchair ramp system includes a ramp constructed from at least one structural insulated panel (SIP) having a foam core sandwiched between two structural facing panels such as oriented strand board (OSB). An outdoor exterior coating such as polyaspartic coating covers the SIP panel for allowing the SIP panel to be resistant to outdoor elements. At least one guardrail or handrail is secured to the side of the SIP for providing a safety barrier to persons using the ramp system.

Abstract: An asphalt paver may include a tractor and a screed configured for towing behind the tractor. The screed may include a tow arm secured to the tractor at an adjustable tow point. The paver may also include a monitoring system configured for monitoring and displaying the position of the adjustable tow point. The monitoring system may include a sensor arranged at or near the tow point for sensing the position of the tow point and a computing system in communication with the sensor for displaying the position of the adjustable tow point. A method of paving involving adjusting paving parameters to avoid or compensate for movement in the tow point is also provided.

Abstract: Asphalt paving and stripping system and method involves the use of a primer, comprising hydrophobic microwave absorbing material mixed in a hydrophobic liquid, between an asphalt layer and a base layer below. The primer is configured to be deposited on the base layer at room temperature without preheating. Heating the hydrophobic microwave absorbing material, sandwiched between the asphalt and base layers, by microwave energy, allows striping of the asphalt layer from the base layer by a wheel loader.
Abstract: A method of determining optimal frequency to load haul trucks can include a central controller receiving an indication of the amount of paving material at a paving machine, and an indication of production rate of the paving machine. The central controller can then determine when more paving material should be provided to the paving machine. Based on this determination, the central controller can provide alerts or triggers to a paving material plant to indicate when haul trucks should be loaded to provide additional paving materials to the paving machine.

Abstract: A paving mixture for application to a surface and a method for the same are provided. The sensor devices may output a first sensor signal corresponding to a position of the first extension and a second sensor signal corresponding to a position of the second extension. The control unit may receive the first and second sensor signals, determine a screed width based on the first and second sensor signals, receive location data corresponding to a location of the paving machine, determine locations of the first and second extensions based on the screed width and the location data, generate a boundary map based on the locations of the first and second extensions, and cause an action to be performed based on the boundary map.

Abstract: A device is provided for monitoring the compaction of concrete introduced into a slipform of a slipform paver by means of at least one concrete compacting device that has an asynchronous motor for driving an unbalanced mass which generates vibrations. The monitoring device comprises an apparatus for monitoring the stator current of the asynchronous motor, the apparatus being configured such that a change in the compaction of the concrete is determined based on an analysis of the stator current. The apparatus for monitoring the stator current of the asynchronous motor is preferably configured such that the amplitude spectrum of the stator current is determined in order to analyse the stator current. It is advantageous that the compaction of the concrete is not monitored using sensors which are exposed to harsh ambient conditions during operation of the slipform paver.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for heating a road surface material to be repaired. The apparatus includes a frame and a heater connected to the frame so as to be positioned over a road surface, in use, for heating for heating a road surface material.
