Abstract: Methods and systems for using temperature measurements taken from a compact insulated skin thermowell to optimize a pyrolysis reaction are provided. In the present systems and methods, the upstream temperature and the upstream pressure of a pyrolysis reactor is measured through an adiabatic restriction in the inlet manifold of a parallel tube assembly to provide an absolute upstream temperature and an upstream pressure. The downstream temperature of the pyrolysis reactor is also measured following an adiabatic restriction to provide an absolute downstream temperature. The downstream pressure is then determined by multiplying the absolute upstream pressure with the quotient of the downstream temperature divided by the upstream temperature as taken to the power of k/k?1, where k is the ratio of fluid specific heat at constant pressure (Cp) to fluid specific heat at constant volume (Cv).
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for selective hydrodesulphurization of cracked naphtha streams in the form of an extrudate, which comprises a support based on an inorganic oxide and an outer layer bound to the support, wherein the outer layer comprises desulphurization metals dispersed therein forming a crown, the desulphurization metals being cobalt and molybdenum. The present invention also relates to the preparation of said catalyst by the incipient wetness impregnation method and to the process for selective hydrodesulphurization of cracked naphtha employing same.

Abstract: An improved alkylation process with improved octane number and lower final boiling point. Further, the present disclosure comprises an alkylation system that allows flexibility in the operating parameters without loss of productivity. This enhances the advantage of the solid acid alkylation process of the invention over the liquid acid processes, as the C9+ alkylate will mainly contain the desired highly branched paraffin's in the case of solid acid alkylation. By fractionation of C9+, the RON number of the gasoline alkylate after fractionation remains very high, while the final boiling point of the gasoline fraction will decrease, improving value and blending flexibility.

Abstract: Techniques provided herein relate to regulating at least one operating parameter of a paraffinic froth treatment (PFT) operation and controlling the quality of the produced bitumen in response to a determined concentration of at least one residual metal in a PFT process stream. Determination of the residual metal concentration is based on acquired NIR spectral measurements of the PFT process stream. An alkaline agent dosage in primary extraction operation can be for example regulated in response to a difference between a determined calcium concentration and a calcium concentration specification.
