  • Patent number: 9559932
Abstract: The processor obtains a process time, which is a time taken for processing a control message when the control device requests that a target processing device, selected from among the plurality of processing devices, process a control message. When the process time has become longer than a first threshold, the processor determines which of a first and a second congestion has occurred based on whether the process time has become longer than a second threshold, which is greater than the first threshold. The first congestion occurs in the transfer devices used for a communication between the control device and the target processing device. The second congestion occurs in the target processing device. The network connection device transmits a request message requesting that a transfer route for which it has been determined that the control message is not processed in a device in which the congestion has occurred be set.

  • Patent number: 9491684
Abstract: A method for multi-hop forwarding of data packets in vehicular ad-hoc networks is disclosed. Each node knows both its own and the destination's geographical coordinates. The coordinates of the one-hop neighbors are obtained from periodically broadcast Cooperative-Awareness Messages (CAMs). The method comprises the following distributed coordination scheme, executed by each node upon receiving a packet: i) computing the set of candidate forwarders; ii) ranking the candidate forwarders according to an utility metric; iii) forwarding the packet after a period of time proportional to its rank if top-ranked, dropping the packet otherwise. The base utility metric used for ranking forwarders is the inverse of the distance to the destination. Moreover, an extension is disclosed where this metric is replaced by the inverse of the expected number of packet transmissions to reach the destination. The latter metric is calculated based on spatial connectivity information cooperatively collected by nodes in the network.

  • Patent number: 9385886
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for processing a packet and a related device. One implementation consists of a method for processing a packet that comprises receiving, by a first network device, a forwarded packet, performing a flow table matching for the forwarded packet, and if unmatched, encapsulating the forwarded packet with an inner encapsulation and an outer encapsulation, and transmitting the forwarded packet to a second network device. The method further comprises receiving a flow table packet returned by the second network device, wherein the flow table packet carries flow table information of the forwarded packet and is encapsulated with a special layer 2 frame header, and processing the flow table packet according to an operation indicated by an Ethernet type value in the special layer 2 frame header.

  • Patent number: 9374304
Abstract: A route-tracing application can measure the performance of a path in a named-data network using trace agents deployed across various network nodes. During operation, a network node can process a route-tracing Interest by performing a lookup operation in a forwarding information base (FIB) using the Interest's name, in which a respective FIB entry may map the name to a forwarding rule. If the FIB does not include an entry for the Interest's route-tracing name, a trace agent at the network node determines one or more outbound interfaces for the route-tracing operation based on the Interest's name, and creates new route-tracing FIB entries that each maps the Interest's name to a forwarding rule for the determined interfaces. The network node returns a Content Object that satisfies the Interest, in which the Content Object includes the names of the new FIB entries, as well as performance information for the path.

  • Patent number: 9325612
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods and apparatus for providing virtual channelization of un-channelized media. A parent circuit is configured to expect dynamic IPoE CLIPS clients. Traffic having a source address is received from an access point. A circuit lookup is performed based on the source address. Upon a determination from the circuit lookup that a circuit corresponding to the traffic from the source address does not exist, the parent circuit determines whether the source address of the traffic falls within a predefined range of addresses and notifies a control plane of the parent circuit that a new IP address has been detected for dynamic IPoE CLIPS.

  • Patent number: 9270592
Abstract: Network device and method for routing a packet and setting up a new flow. The device includes a packet classifier, a field-selection table, a hash module, and a routing table. A packet is routed by finding an entry in the field-selection table using the packet classifier, selecting bits from the packet based on the entry in the field-selection table, and hashing the selected bits along with an identifier from the packet classifier or the field-selection table, using the hash module. The hash result is used to locate instructions in the routing table. When setting up a new flow, the hash module result may point to an existing entry in the routing table. In such instances, a new entry is added to the packet classifier, such that the hash module will produce a different result that points to an available entry in the routing table.

  • Patent number: 9225605
Abstract: Embodiments generally provide techniques for mapping service modules on a network device. Embodiments identify a plurality of service modules, each configured to perform a respective service. A first one of the plurality of service modules is mapped to a first one of a plurality of virtual switches on the network device. Service policy information for a plurality of virtual switches is retrieved. The service policy information is indicative of service requirements for each of the plurality of virtual switches. Upon detecting an occurrence of a predefined event, embodiments determine a second one of the plurality of virtual switches to map the first service module to, based on the service policy information. The first service module is then mapped to the second virtual switch.
