  • Patent number: 5423142
Abstract: An improved hanging display sign comprises boxes each having transparent e panels and a slot into which panels displaying letters are inserted to display a message. The letter panels are protected from inclement weather and from tampering by vandals by the transparent face panels and by sealing strips. A cable system is used to hold the boxes in a stack, with each box closing the opening in the top of the box below it. Drawing the cables tight holds the boxes together in a stack to form a weatherproof, vandal-proof display sign.

  • Patent number: 5421708
Abstract: A high side co-rotating refrigerant scroll compressor includes a motor disposed vertically above its compression mechanism. The discharge of gas from the compression mechanism is through the drive shaft of the drive scroll member which is rotatably supported at its distal end in an upper bearing. Upper bearing lubrication is accomplished by the disentrainment of oil from the mixture of compressed refrigerant gas and oil discharged from the compression mechanism in the vicinity of the bearing and by the direction of such disentrained oil to the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5421490
Abstract: Disclosed is a pump device for pastry or paste-like media. The medium is located in a container and within the container a cover is lowered under the influence of a pressure device. The cover has on its underside, inclined surfaces which are inclined in the direction of a suction opening. The pump device allows a dependable conveyance of the medium, even in an unfavorable relationship of the suction pressure and the viscosity of the medium, by using a conveyor device within the container which helps move the medium.

  • Patent number: 5421709
Abstract: A high-side co-rotating refrigerant scroll compressor defines a lubricant sump in its discharge pressure portion. Lubricant is directed from that sump, through a passage which is at least partially defined by the shell of the compressor, to the bearings in which the scroll members rotate. Heat carried in the lubricant flowing through the passage is transferred through the compressor shell to the ambient. Subsequent to having lubricated the bearing in which the drive scroll member rotates, lubricant is diverted into a passage defined by the drive scroll member drive shaft and enters the stream of compressed discharge gas flowing therethrough. The lubricant is thereby prevented from entering the suction pressure portion of the compressor where it would otherwise heat compressor suction gas prior to the entry of that gas into the compressor's compression mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5421706
Abstract: A vane-type pump which including a housing having interior surfaces defining a pumping chamber having a diameccentric configuration. A diameccentric configuration is defined for purposes of this invention as a substantially circular shaped body whose constant diameter rotates about a point which is offset with respect to the centroid of that shaped body. The diameccentrically configured pumping chamber includes a perimeter section, a front wall, a rear wall, an intake port, a discharge port, an intake region, and a discharge region. A pump rotor is disposed within and is diameccentric to the pumping chamber for rotation within the pumping chamber for pressurizing and pumping a fluid. The pumping chamber, which typically has a generally elliptical shape, has a substantially uniform diameter when measured through the longitudinal center of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5421705
Abstract: An overload protection device for a drive motor of a pressure generator is provided including an auxiliary pump, flow resistance devices, and a pressure-controlled valve. The drive motor drives the main pump of the pressure generator, whose output flow rate is stabilized by a hydraulic regulating valve, which senses the pressure of the output flow of the main pump. The auxiliary pump is also driven by the drive motor and generates an output flow rate proportional to the rotational speed of the drive motor. An auxiliary hydraulic circuit, including the first and second flow resistance devices connected in series, connects the auxiliary pump to the tank of the hydraulic pressure generator. The pressure-controlled valve includes a control chamber connected with a tapping point in the auxiliary hydraulic circuit for sensing the output flow of the auxiliary pump.

  • Patent number: 5419686
Abstract: The invention is directed to a fuel pump for an internal combustion engine such as a two-stroke engine in a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw or the like. A pump chamber is connected via a suction valve to a fuel feed and via a pressure valve to a pressure line. A pump membrane delimits the pump chamber and is driven by the fluctuating crankcase pressure of the engine which is present in the work chamber. Pump operation free of disturbances over a wide rpm range is attained with the suction valve to the pump chamber being configured essentially as a valve having the shape of a part circle, The pressure valve is disposed approximately at the center of the suction valve and delimits the pump chamber in the stroke direction of the pump membrane.

  • Patent number: 5419684
Abstract: An infusion pump for regulating fluid flow through the flow path of an IV tubing set for intravenous administration to a patient. The pumping mechanism of the infusion pump comprises a reversible motor having a drive shaft with a wheel mounted thereon. A valve is provided which is adapted for reversibly closing the flow path through the IV tubing set, and a swing arm is provided. The swing arm has a wheel-engaging portion adapted for engaging the wheel, and an actuator portion operatively linked with the valve to actuate the valve. The arrangement is such that, when the motor is turning the drive shaft in a first direction, the swing arm is moved towards a first position where the actuator portion allows the valve to move to its open position to open the flow path. When the motor is reversed to turn the drive shaft in a second direction opposite the first direction, the swing arm is moved to a second position where the actuator portion moves the valve to its closed position to close the flow path.
