  • Patent number: 4708343
Abstract: A baseball practice apparatus comprised of a vertically extending panel having a plurality of selectively operable lights which generate focused light beams directed forward from the panel. A player swings a bat having a light reflecting surface which will intercept and cause the light beams to be reflected back towards the panel. On the panel there is an array of spaced light sensors. One of the light sensors detects the reflected light, and a visual indication is provided of the simulated result of the swing, for example, a "line drive" or a "fly ball". A foregoing visual display is provided in response to which light, or lights, were illuminated to simulate a pitched ball and which sensor sensed reflected light from the bat. A "curve", a "sinker" or other pitch is simulated, by actuating selected lights in a predetermined sequence.

  • Patent number: 4706955
Abstract: A racket stringing machine comprises a support frame, a tension head assembly, a lateral clamp head and a longitudinal clamp head. Movement of the tension head assembly is controlled by a brake motor which is controlled by the signals transferred from a limit switch. The limit switch is normally pressed by a contact element and released when a string clamp head pivoted on the tension head assembly is spring biassed to pivot away from the clamping frame and a contact element fixed on the string clamp head is separated from the limit switch. The lateral clamp head comprises two lateral clamp arms for clamping the lateral sides of a racket frame to be strung by a pivotal movement accomplished by an actuating block sliding along a rotating bolt. The longitudinal clamp head comprises a clamping sheet with a rack extending downward from the bottom surface for meshing with a sector gear so as to be rotated by a handle in order to clamp the upper surface of the racket frame.

  • Patent number: 4705273
Abstract: Cushioned baseball bats comprising a semi-rigid support structure and a resilient cushion portion surrounding at least a portion of the support structure are provided. The bats of this invention are of substantial enough weight and rigidity that they can be used in a game substantially similar to conventional baseball or softball, but the bats of this invention are less likely than conventional baseball bats (or bats designed to replace conventional bats) to cause serious injury when they strike a person. The bats of this invention are preferably used with lighter and softer balls so that a game that is substantially similar to conventional baseball or softball may be played with a reduced danger of serious injury.

  • Patent number: 4703934
Abstract: A board game apparatus including a pair of dice and from two to eight pieces of play (boxers). The game board playing area is defined as a twelve by twelve grid of perpendicularly intersecting lines of holes. Some or all of the pieces of play (boxers) are entered into play on the game board's playing area by the players. The pieces of play (boxers) move according to the throw of the dice. One die indicates movement along a grid line and the other die indicates movement along another grid line perpendicular to the first grid line. Thus, the pieces of play move along the game board surface following an "L" move pattern. The players position their pieces of play (boxers) according to the game rules, to eliminate opposing pieces of play (boxers) until only one remains. That remaining one is the winner.

  • Patent number: 4703933
Abstract: A game piece formed of a strip of sheet material folded into a packet containing a plurality of overlaying panels. First and second panels of equal dimensions are connected along a common end edge by a perforated line. The second and third panels are separated by a fold line. Two perforated lines are formed on opposite sides of the fold line. Additional perforated lines are formed along the longitudinal edges of the first, second and third panels, as well as the outer end edge of the first panel. The third panel is folded over the second panel and the first panel is folded over the third panel after adhesive has been applied to the peripheral edges adjacent the longitudinal perforations and end perforations on the first panel to secure the first, second and third panels together into a closed form. Tearing of the overlaying perforations enables the first, second and third panels, each of which bears advertising or promotional indicia to be completely separated from each other for individual use.
