    Abstract: An educational word game apparatus utilizes a board with a diamond shaped playing area formed in a checkerboard pattern. A pair of goals is provided and players more playing tiles over the checkerboard squares toward the goal according to a roll of a die. A large deck of word cards is provided with each card having a word on one side and the meaning thereof on the other side. At each roll of the die, a player draws a card and chooses to either define or spell the word. If the correct answer is given, the player may advance a playing tile. The first player to move a certain number of playing tiles to his goal is the winner. A goal may be the word ALPHABET and tiles having letters of this word are used to cover the corresponding letter when reached by a playing tile.

    Abstract: A golf ball and tee setter for simultaneously holding a ball and tee prior to inserting a tee into the ground and for releasing the ball and tee with the ball remaining in the teed position subsequent to inserting the tee into the ground. The tee setter has an elongated handle and a pair of opposed cup members pivotally attached to one end of the handled. The cup members are arranged to simultaneously hold a golf ball and tee when in a closed position and to release the ball and tee when in an open position. The cup members are normally held in the closed position by a spring biasing element and are moved to the open position by a hand operated mechanism accessible at the other end of the handle, the hand operated mechanism being attached to the pivoted cup members. The apparatus is so designed that a player may set a ball and tee in place from a standing position.

By correctly answering the test questions, players can advance their playing piece on the inner playing spaces.

    Abstract: A sling for an archery bow of a conventional type having a handle, a pair of limbs extending in opposite directions from the handle and a bow string interconnecting the outer ends of the limbs. A generally U-shaped bracket is attached to a central portion of the front of the bow at a position just below the handle. An elongated member having a first and second end is attached to one end of the U-shaped member by being threaded through two spaced apart holes therein. The other end of the U-shaped member has a hole through which the elongated member is slidably received and a clip is attached to an intermediate portion of the U-shaped member for selectively holding the other end of the elongated member stationary with respect to the U-shaped bracket but allowing such other end to be quickly removed from the clip to allow such other end of the elongated member to slide in and out of the opening therein as desired.

    Abstract: A question and answer game involving the field of criminal justice includes a game board, playing tokens, a die and cards. The board includes two playing tracks upon which the playing tokens move. The tracks consist of playing spaces having indicia thereon that relates to different question and answer categories. The two tracks intersect at various points and the intersection points are connected to a retaining area via a path. The retaining areas are in turn connected to one of the two tracks via a one-way path. The cards contain questions and answers relating to three levels of difficulty. Prior to the start of the game, players choose a particular level of difficulty. Thereafter, a player landing on one of the intersection points has the option of answering a question from a higher level of difficulty than that chosen by the player before the start of the game.

    Abstract: A vascular shunt is employed for use in surgical by-pass operations to divert blood flow during an operation from the aorta into a plurality of arteries serving different organs of the body. The vascular shunt is comprised of a hollow, flexible inlet tube with an inlet tip projecting therefrom and turned to form an inlet mouth. The tip is adapted for insertion into an incision surgically formed into the wall of a human aortic artery so that the mouth of the inlet tip is directed upstream into the aorta. A releasable inlet sealing means is connected to the inlet tip to lock blood flow in the aorta downstream beyond the inlet tip. Tubular branches emanate from the inlet tube. Each branch is of a smaller internal cross-sectional area than the inlet tube and is adapted for connection to an artery serving an organ of the human body.

    Abstract: A gaming device employs a plurality of video displays, each presenting an output consisting of gaming symbols which are scrolled to simulate the effect of a revolving mechanical reel. The device includes electronic circuitry effectively storing, for each video display, an electronic signal sequence corresponding to a sequence of gaming symbols which is scrolled on the associated video display. Each electronic symbol sequence consists of a series of separate, sequentially-addressable sectors of electronic data storage, each sector containing a sequence of symbol addresses which access a single, common symbol signal storage space containing the symbols which occur in all of the presented sequences. A symbol sequence is scrolled by randomly selecting a starting symbol, sequentially addressing, from the starting symbol, the symbols defined by the symbol addresses in the reel for a predetermined period of time during which the reel rotates, and then halting the rotation at a stopping symbol.

For each reel, the gaming device stores a map of the symbols on the reel in a symbol map memory and a map of the stop positions on the reel in a stop map memory where the data stored in the first location in the reel map memory represents the first stop for a symbol whose data is stored in the first location in the symbol map memory. Three mapping indexes are stored for each reel. One index stores only one value representing an address offset to the reel map memory at one location for each symbol on the reel to provide a standard gaming device.

    Abstract: An exercise device is furnished with an electronic display or a mechanical belt for simulating road conditions. In an embodiment utilizing an electronic display, sensors are used to sense pedaling speed, rotational direction, and displacement of the handlebars. The signals produced by the sensors are processed by a microprocessor for controlling the lateral position of the exercise bicycle with respect to the scene being displayed and the running speed of the road condition simulation. The microprocessor includes a memory which stores a program for controlling the pedaling resistance of the exercise device. In another embodiment, a belt provided with flat patterns on its surface depicting mock road conditions rotates. The user may control the position of a mock vehicle resting on the belt surface by manipulating the handlebars. The mock vehicle is coupled to the handlebar stem by a right-angle-shaped rod.
