  • Patent number: 5655897
Abstract: A peristaltic pump cassette (1) is designed to cooperate in use with a motor unit (2) through a drive spindle (30) comprising a casing (40) with a tube bearing surface (12), a deformable tube (11), rotating rollers (14) driven by friction by the drive spindle (30). The deformable tube (11) is applied onto the support surface (12) and is deformed by rotating rollers (14), in order to produce driving of a liquid contained therein. Before first use, the radial position of rollers (14) is such that the tube (11) is not closed. During first use, they are moved radially by inserting the drive spindle (30), thus closing the tube (11). After use, rollers (14) remain in the radial position that keeps the tube (11) closed.

  • Patent number: 5653583
Abstract: The invention provides an oil hydraulic pump wherein a suction connector can be attached readily to a body using a single bolt. Annular stepped portions direction reversely to each other are formed on a suction port of the body and a flange portion and an insertion projection of the suction connector, respectively, such that, when the insertion projection is inserted into the suction port, the annular stepped portions cooperate to form an annular seal groove. The annular seal groove has a pair of side faces opposing to each other in a direction perpendicular, and extending in parallel, to an axial line of the seal groove and serving as interference acting faces. The resilient force by the interference of the seal fitted in the seal groove acts only upon the interface acting faces.

  • Patent number: 5649811
Abstract: A combination motor and pump assembly comprising a housing, a shaft rotaty mounted in the housing, and an impeller fixed to the shaft in the housing, said impeller comprising alternately magnetically polarized portions. The assembly further comprises stator means fixed in the housing adjacent the impeller, the stator means comprising an array of pole pieces and windings associated therewith for receiving electrical alternating current. Fluid inlet means and outlet means are provided in the housing in communication with the impeller. The impeller reacts to current received by the stator means as a motor rotor and rotates in response to excitation of the pole pieces by the current. The rotation of the rotor serves to move fluid in the housing from the inlet to the outlet means.

  • Patent number: 5647395
Abstract: A discharge valve assembly for use in a fluid displacement apparatus has a suction chamber and a discharge chamber on one side of a valve plate, a compression chamber on the other side of the valve plate and a passage formed in the valve plate extending between the compression chamber and the discharge chamber. The discharge valve assembly comprises a valve limiting device secured to the valve plate for limiting the bending movement of a valve member. The valve member is bent away from the valve plate when all external pressure influences are removed. Noise and vibration caused by the striking of the valve member against the valve seat and the retainer member are thereby decreased.

  • Patent number: 5642990
Abstract: A downhole pump is reciprocated subsurface for the purpose of lifting fluid from an underground borehole to the surface or other suitable storage location. As the fluid being pumped may contain gas, the efficiency of the pump may decrease to the point where no fluid is pumped due to the compression and expansion of gas within the downhole pump. This condition is commonly described as gas lock, and, when encountered, can prevent the pump from displacing any fluid, resulting in no efficiency and no work performed. Installed as an integral part of the downhole pump assembly, the device described herein effectively, mechanically, and positively prevents the gas locked condition, and, additionally, efficiently handles suspended solids due to its design incorporating no moving parts nor small fluid passages.

  • Patent number: 5641272
Abstract: In float actuated pump having a rod and lever actuation from the float, an improved connect between the rod and lever is disclosed enabling valve opening substantially free of constraint by the rod and attached fittings. Such arrangement also enabling exhaust valve opening in a two-step momentum inducing method. Specifically, a valve actuating lever biased by a counter weight at one lever end, connects to the operating rod at the improved joint at the other lever end. The end of the rod is provided with an arcuate slot made of magnetic attractive material. The lever connects at a lever pin to the arcuate slot. The curvature of the slot prevents towards and away movement of the rod; the length of the slot gives free up and down rod movement at the lever pin within the elongate slot. At the top of the travel of the arcuate slot, a magnet is included in the pump head.

  • Patent number: 5639225
Abstract: In a scroll type compressor, when the operation of the compressor is stopped, compression chambers, for compressing a fluid, and a suction chamber are communicated with each other through bypass holes, and a spool valve to open and close the holes, so that the pressure in the compression chambers are lowered and the occurrence of a shock caused by a sharp increase in the load is prevented at the next start. Since the discharge pressure to drive the spool valve is introduced from a position upstream of the discharge valve, pressure is quickly lowered when the compressor stops, so that the spool valve can be quickly opened. Therefore, even when the compressor is frequently started and stopped, the occurrence of a shock can be positively prevented when the compressor starts.

  • Patent number: 5632604
Abstract: The present invention utilizes a combined dual piston and cylinder arrangement surrounded by a sleeve all mounted within a container which is in turn placed within a drill collar. The pressure of the drilling mud within the drill string drives the pressure pump of the present invention by forcing the piston up and down. Stops on the piston rod maneuver a sleeve which opens and closes inlets and outlets so that the desired flow can be obtained to drive the cylinder, piston and rod arrangement up and down. When the pistons are driven downward, drilling mud is forced through a conduit into a drill bit and out a jet nozzle at a high pressure so as to facilitate the fracturing and removal of the formation being drilled.

  • Patent number: 5630699
Abstract: A mechanical seal is disposed in surrounding relationship to a pump shaft within an enlarged-bore seal chamber defined by the pump housing to create a sealed relationship therebetween. The mechanical seal includes a gland ring stationarily fixed to the pump housing for closing off an outer end of the enlarged-bore seal chamber. An annular erosion protector is disposed within the enlarged-bore chamber in close and generally overlapping relationship to the inner axial face of the gland ring. This annular protector has radially projecting protrusions which project axially inwardly along the outer portion of the enlarged-bore chamber, and also preferably has an annular part which projects radially inwardly so as to effectively cover substantially the entire inner face of the gland ring. The erosion protector is effective in significantly eliminating direct erosion-contact of pump fluid against both the gland ring and the surrounding wall of the seal chamber.
