  • Patent number: 5241457
Abstract: A rear window stop lamp for a motor vehicle, which is energizable when the brake of the motor vehicle is applied, has a resin-molded body attached to the interior side of a rear window glass sheet. The resin-molded body has at least one cavity having a curved reflecting surface. An LED chip is disposed in the cavity substantially at a focal point of the curved reflecting surface. A transparent resin-molded body surrounds the LED chip. A light distribution lens plate covers an opening of the cavity for directing rearwardly a light beam emitted from the LED chip and reflected by the curved reflecting surface. The light distribution lens plate comprises a Fresnel lens. A printed electric wire board is embedded in the resin-molded body for energizing LED units. The printed electric wire board is made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion which is closer to that of the rear window glass sheet than to that of the resin-molded body.

  • Patent number: 5235499
Abstract: A lamp assembly particularly for a luminaire comprising a lamp having a light emitting member of generally torroidal shape and a reflector positioned and shaped to reflect light received from the light emitting member through the central opening. The light emitting member is preferably a filament of an incandescent lamp. The reflector has a cross-section comprising first and second arcs which are substantially symmetrical with respect to a line joining the center of the reflector and a point substantially at the centre of the torroidal member and the shape of the reflector is that described by rotating said arcs about said line. The arcs may be elliptical or circular for example with their foci or centers positioned to achieve the required effect.

  • Patent number: 5230555
Abstract: The invention pertains to a fiber optic lamp system such as those employed in medical diagnostic systems using a cabinet containing a power supply having a front extendible drawer containing a 250 watt focused beam metal halide arc lamp mounted in a removable bracket which includes a sensing tab extension. The bracket sensing tab operates an electrical interlock switch when the proper lamp is properly installed. The interlock switch controls power to the system whose circuit includes pin and floating sleeve electrical connectors which automatically directly completes the circuit to the arc lamp upon the drawer being closed. The amount of light transferred to the fiber optic cable is optimized by offsetting the axis of focused light with respect to the optic cable axis at the cable interface.
