  • Patent number: 5295052
Abstract: A chassis for a light source for medical/surgical applications comprises a lamp assembly having a support plate slidable through a housing door into chassis mounted rails or slides and having fixed thereon lamp heat sinks having the form of mounting plates with heat dispersing fins projecting therefrom. The supporting plate further includes or supports plugs which mate with corresponding plugs in the rear as the plate is inserted on the rails and pushed back onto stops, providing secure, aligned positioning. The heat sinks that hold the lamp in position are slotted so as to resiliently secure and electrically contact the lamp under the action of first and second resilient clamps which position the lamp in predetermined alignment and allow for thermal expansion, for example, of the sapphire window. Light from the lamp is projected along a path through heat filters to an output turret assembly which allows for selection of different fiber optic cables connected to plural connectors on the turret.

  • Patent number: 5295049
Abstract: An instrument preferably employable for a vehicle includes a dial and at least one pointer for indicating the present operative state of the vehicle such as a running speed, an engine speed or the like through a window glass. The dial is illuminated from the rear side by activating a dial illuminating unit, while the pointer is illuminated indirectly via a reflective coating film formed thereon by activating a pointer illuminating unit. The pointer is rotated in a normal direction via a stepping motor when an ignition key is shifted to ON, while it is rotated in a reverse direction when it is shifted to OFF. The instrument is additionally provided with a pointer mask plate made of an opaque plate-shaped material and placed between the window glass and the pointer. The pointer mask plate is located below a zero calibration on the dial and at least the window glass side of the pointer mask plate is blackened without any optical brightness like a frosted glass.

  • Patent number: 5295047
Abstract: A line-of-light illuminating device includes an optical lightpipe for receiving and transmitting light by internal reflection and an integral optical lens located at an emission portion of the lightpipe for focusing the reflected light into a collimated line-of-light beam. The lightpipe and lens are preferably injection molded in a single shot as a unitary device. The lightpipe preferably has an isosceles triangular cross-sectional shape with an apex formed at the point where the two equilateral sides join. A reflective surface is formed along the apex on the emission portion of the lightpipe, and the lens is located on the side opposite the apex. The internally reflected light striking the reflective surface is reflected perpendicularly therefrom to the lens. The lens focusses the reflected light into the collimated line-of-light beam.

  • Patent number: 5291380
Abstract: The invention concerns a lamp having a reflector, a glass lid and a filament which is supported by supply wires. The supply wires pass from the interior of the lamp to the outside through the connecting area between the reflector and the glass lid. The reflector is thus almost 100 percent effective because there is no space required for a material collection marking a passage of supply wires or a socket for receiving a bulb. The light performance of the lamp is thus an optimum.

  • Patent number: 5285870
Abstract: A lubricating arrangement for an automatic power transmission has a lubricant circuit for communication between a pressurized fluid source and a component of the automatic power transmission to be lubricated. A flow restriction means is disposed within the lubricating circuit. The flow restriction means incorporated in the lubricating arrangement introduces a twin choke construction for providing sufficient magnitude of flow restriction for the lubricating fluid supplied from the pressurized fluid source for preventing excess fluid from flowing through the lubricating circuit which causes a drop of supply pressure and/or flow rate in the pressurized fluid source and blocking of the fluid flow path due to accumulation of foreign matters, such as dust, dirt and so forth. The flow restriction means comprises a first choke and a second choke arranged in tandem fashion across a fluid reservoir provided therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5287255
Abstract: A combination flashlight-baton has a head assembly connected at one end of a flashlight barrel which houses a substantially parabolic reflector, a planar lens, a lamp bulb receptacle, and a lamp bulb. A battery source of power is contained within the barrel and a switch on the barrel energizes the lamp bulb. A baton assembly carried in the tail end of the flashlight barrel has telescoping tubular members movable between a retracted position substantially within the barrel and an extended position extending outwardly therefrom. The innermost tubular telescoping member has a small mass at the distal end. With the baton retracted, the combination flashlight-baton can be carried, stored, and used as a conventional flashlight. To extend the baton, the user holds the flashlight by the handle with the tail end pointing away and sharply snap the wrist forward in a slinging action and the telescoping members are extended outwardly due to centrifugal force.
