Abstract: A coordinate measuring instrument for measuring a shape or the like of a work to be measured by a relative displacement value between a measuring element (28) and the work (30). The measuring instrument includes displacement detectors (23, 25, 27) for detecting displacement values of the measuring element (28) relative to the work (30) in the directions of X-, Y- and Z-axes and portable detecting units (35, 38) each having a displacement detector, and these detectors are connected to an input circuit (41) of a processing unit (32) in which the data is processed to output the measured value. The detecting units (35, 38) are selectively used depending on portions to be measured of the work.

The steering column has a vertically actuated turn signal lever horizontally positioned and extending generally radially from the steering column. The handicap turn signal bar includes an elongated lever member substantially parallel to the turn signal lever. The member is pivotally mounted at the bottom of the steering column and one longitudinal end of the member is proximate a portion of the steering wheel. The other longitudinal end of the member is disposed in the vertical plane movement of the turn signal lever. A split clamp is attached to that other end of the member and is removably attached to the turn signal lever. The split clamp includes first and second mating parts which define a varied dimensional through-hole adapted to loosely encircle the turn signal lever.

  • Patent number: 4676101
Abstract: A system for indicating level of material in a vessel as a function of material capacitance comprising a pair of parallel probe electrodes which extend through the vessel and have lower portions disposed beneath the vessel outlet in direct electrical contact with material whose level is to be measured. An electrical signal having both ac and dc components is fed to one of the electrodes, and detected at the other electrode, such that the detected ac signal component varies with both capacitance and conductance of material disposed between the electrodes while the dc signal component varies substantially as a function solely of material conductance. The dc signal component is used to compensate the ac signal component for variations in conductance, so that an output signal is provided which varies as a function of material level between the electrodes substantially independently of material conductance.

  • Patent number: 4665622
Abstract: An optical sighting device for a rifle or other article to be aimed at a target includes a frame for mounting to the rifle and a very short sighting window atop the frame. A light source in the frame powered by a battery shines a beam of light toward the sighting window which incorporates a retro-collimating beam-splitter so that the marksman sees in the window an image of the reticle in the form of a spot of light superimposed on the target image. When he moves the rifle to place the reticle image at a selected spot on the target image and fires the rifle, the bullets leaving the rifle will strike that spot on the actual target. The sighting device also includes means for adjusting the position of the reticle to compensate for the effects of gravity and wind on the bullets and means for adjusting the relative intensity of the reticle and target images to suit the marksmans preference and to compensate for changes in the ambient light in the vicinity of the sighting device.

  • Patent number: 4663851
Abstract: A position measuring instrument comprising a graduation unit and a scanning unit. The graduation unit comprises a centering flange, a graduation carrier and a measuring graduation located on the graduation carrier. The scanning unit comprises a scanning component which comprises a scanning graduation and a stop. During assembly, the scanning unit is positioned radially with respect to the graduation carrier by positioning the stop against the centering flange. The scanning component may then be moved along a guide towards the measuring graduation. As the scanning component is moved towards the measuring graduation the stop no longer contacts the centering flange. A spacing foil removably sandwiched between the measuring graduation and the scanning graduation is used to position the scanning graduation at a predetermined distance from the measuring graduation. A locking means is then used to prevent further movement of the scanning component along the guide.

  • Patent number: 4663855
Abstract: A vehicle alignment system uses transverse, longitudinal and vertical bars mounted on a vehicle and equating to X, Y and Z axes for establishing the dimensions of the vehicle, which dimensions are then compared to the vehicle engineering specifications. The transverse bars are connected to the underside of the vehicle and, to enable quickness and ease of transferring the alignment system between vehicles, quick connect fittings extend between the transverse and longitudinal bars. Additional supports extend between the longitudinal bars and a base surface. The system is arranged so that transverse bars in a path of entry and exit of the vehicle can be readily removed and the vehicle removed and replaced, while maintaining the alignment system substantially set up and ready for use. The process improves the speed of use of the system by substantially alleviating the dismantling previously required.
