  • Patent number: 4655724
Abstract: A steering and drive system for toy vehicles is disclosed. Independent gear trains for wheels on opposite sides of the toy vehicle are utilized in combination with a single reversible motor to either rotate all wheels in the same direction to move the vehicle in a straight line or, by reversing the direction of the motor, to rotate wheels on opposite sides of the vehicle in opposite directions causing the vehicle to turn. Wheels on one side of the vehicle are connected to a main gear and the direction of rotation of such wheels is completely dependent upon the polarity of an electric power source applied to the motor. Wheels on the opposite side of the vehicle are indirectly connected to the main gear by a movable control gear which is urged to engage either an auxiliary gear or a second side drive gear so that the wheels rotate in only a single direction regardless of the direction of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4655190
Abstract: A ball pitching machine including a mainframe, a subframe pivotally attached to and selectively tiltable with respect to said mainframe, and a bracket pivotally attached to and selectively pivotable with respect to said subframe. The subframe supports a drive and attached drive wheel while the bracket supports a radially aligned pressure wheel. The bracket includes an A-frame member and the pressure wheel is rotatably supported at its apex. A guide tube having a discharge end disposed intermediate the drive wheel and the pressure wheel directs a ball in contact with the rotating drive wheel. The machine can pitch balls of various diameters such as baseballs and softballs since the spacing between the drive wheel and the pressure wheel is selectively adjustable by pivoting the bracket with respect to the subframe. Also, the amount of pressure applied by the pressure wheel determines the speed at which the ball is ejected from the machine.

  • Patent number: 4652176
Abstract: A vibratory plow blade having a tapered leading edge, a trailing edge, and a tapered bottom edge wherein the plow blade is configured such that its longitudinal axis regresses or is arcuately angled away from the towing vehicle. The tapered leading edge of the plow blade includes an upper straight cutting section and a plurality of forward angled serrations along its length which provide for downward and upward cutting and fracturing of the soil with each successive stroke of the blade during vibratory action. The guide chute for the cable is mounted to the trailing edge at a substantial bend radius for reducing the flexing required of the cable and reducing the weight of the guide chute. The construction permits close proximity between the plow blade and guide chute for providing increased chute protection and a reduction in the chute frictional drag thereby leaving more vibrational energy for soil displacement.

  • Patent number: 4650005
Abstract: A row crop cultivator for use in farming which includes a pair of weeding disks associated with each cultivator unit of which a plurality is ganged together in series. Each weeding disk is bearingly supported by a vertical shaft which is received by a cross bar in a manner which permits the shaft associated with the weeding disk to be adjusted as to depth and angular orientation. Such changes in the vertical shaft for the weeding disks are directly transferred to the weeding disk itself. Disposed adjacent the uppermost point of the shaft is a degree gauge plate and adjacent thereto is a depth gauge structured out of angle iron. As the farmer makes adjustments as to angular orientation and depth of one weeding disk, he need not be concerned with the specific values until the optimum depth and angular orientation have been found for the particular field being cultivated.

  • Patent number: 4637474
Abstract: The elevation of a tool carried by an implement towed by a tractor is determined by a hydraulic motor mounted on the implement adjusting the wheel height. A servo valve mounted on the tractor responsive to line pressure controls the hydraulic motor. An operator actuated vent valve mounted on the tractor vents line pressure to control the servo valve. A tool elevation responsive feedback vent valve mounted on the implement increasingly vents line pressure as the hydraulic motor changes tool elevation, to negate the effect of venting by the operator actuated vent valve. When hydraulic motor movement equals movement of the operator actuated vent valve, the feedback venting equals that of the operator actuated bent valve. A second negative feedback on the servo motor pistons then returns the servo valve to neutral closed position and change in tool elevation stops.
