  • Patent number: 4655724
Abstract: A steering and drive system for toy vehicles is disclosed. Independent gear trains for wheels on opposite sides of the toy vehicle are utilized in combination with a single reversible motor to either rotate all wheels in the same direction to move the vehicle in a straight line or, by reversing the direction of the motor, to rotate wheels on opposite sides of the vehicle in opposite directions causing the vehicle to turn. Wheels on one side of the vehicle are connected to a main gear and the direction of rotation of such wheels is completely dependent upon the polarity of an electric power source applied to the motor. Wheels on the opposite side of the vehicle are indirectly connected to the main gear by a movable control gear which is urged to engage either an auxiliary gear or a second side drive gear so that the wheels rotate in only a single direction regardless of the direction of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4652176
Abstract: A vibratory plow blade having a tapered leading edge, a trailing edge, and a tapered bottom edge wherein the plow blade is configured such that its longitudinal axis regresses or is arcuately angled away from the towing vehicle. The tapered leading edge of the plow blade includes an upper straight cutting section and a plurality of forward angled serrations along its length which provide for downward and upward cutting and fracturing of the soil with each successive stroke of the blade during vibratory action. The guide chute for the cable is mounted to the trailing edge at a substantial bend radius for reducing the flexing required of the cable and reducing the weight of the guide chute. The construction permits close proximity between the plow blade and guide chute for providing increased chute protection and a reduction in the chute frictional drag thereby leaving more vibrational energy for soil displacement.

  • Patent number: 4649907
Abstract: A traction splint for attachment to a person's leg for example and having an elongate U-shape frame. The side arms of the frame are telescopic and an air pump is connected to the frame so as to be operable to cause simultaneous extension of the two arms. A foot retaining device is attached to the arms adjacent the base of the U and a thigh ring is releasably securable to the movable sections of the two arms so that extension or contraction of the arms causes variation in the distance between the thigh ring and the foot retaining device. The thigh ring is completely separable from the arms and retaining structure is operable to prevent that separation. Also, the thigh ring can be opened at one side to allow it to be moved laterally over a person's leg.

  • Patent number: 4650005
Abstract: A row crop cultivator for use in farming which includes a pair of weeding disks associated with each cultivator unit of which a plurality is ganged together in series. Each weeding disk is bearingly supported by a vertical shaft which is received by a cross bar in a manner which permits the shaft associated with the weeding disk to be adjusted as to depth and angular orientation. Such changes in the vertical shaft for the weeding disks are directly transferred to the weeding disk itself. Disposed adjacent the uppermost point of the shaft is a degree gauge plate and adjacent thereto is a depth gauge structured out of angle iron. As the farmer makes adjustments as to angular orientation and depth of one weeding disk, he need not be concerned with the specific values until the optimum depth and angular orientation have been found for the particular field being cultivated.

  • Patent number: 4649908
Abstract: An eye shield device protects one or both eyes of an individual during medical treatment, or while the individual is comatose, semi-comatose, or under anesthesia. The eye shield includes at least one soft, pliable air-filled cushion member of thin plastic material, sized and shaped to fit within the cavity formed by the orbital bone structure around the eye. During use, the cushion member is placed upon the closed eye and is secured in place by the eye shield support removably affixed to the head of the individual. The cushion member or eye pillow is formed with a pleated side edge for expansion of the air in a "bellows" effect at the periphery to redistribute pressure on the eye to the perimeter and reduce direct pressure on the eye globe. The cushion member is also formed with a central cavity on the side placed upon the closed eye to accommodate the curvature of the eye ball.

  • Patent number: 4645013
Abstract: An agricultural sweep which includes a pair of divergent wings having sharpened, earth-cutting edges. The wings define an angle of between and, and a hard metal insert is used to provide an overlying cap at the forward end of the two wings where the wings converge and extend toward a leading point. The pointed forward ends of the two wings are cut away, and a point carried by the insert is inserted in the space which remains after the pointed forward ends of the two wings have been removed. The insert tapers to a ridge or crest which lies in a plane which bisects the sweep, so that the wings lie on opposite sides of the bisecting plane.

  • Patent number: 4644930
Abstract: A gun is provided which is capable of firing a variety of projectiles driven by a variety of propellants. The barrel may be readily disconnected from the stock of the gun. The breech is designed to receive a standard gauge shotgun shell. Inserts are also provided with the same general configuration of a standard gauge shotgun shell, and when placed into the breech, allow the gun to fire a variety of projectiles. Inserts are provided which allow the gun to fire both center fire and rim fire rounds through a bore in the insert. A rocket insert is also provided which contains a smooth bore and is capable of firing rockets. An inertial firing pin is provided, which operates in conjunction with a floating breech plate. The floating breech plate is used in the firing of compressed gas bottles. A dual action spring drive is provided which is used to provide the necessary force to drive the firing pin and which also absorbs a portion of the recoil.

  • Patent number: 4643261
Abstract: A rotary broom attachment for a motor grader, which has a mold board and structure to adjust the mold board for vertical elevation, side shift and rotary position about vertical and horizontal axes, is mounted behind and parallel to the mold board and has independent adjustment and control structure for positioning, and side shifting, if desired, of the broom relative to the mold board. Sensors are used to signal automatic shifting of the broom vertically or in side shift to avoid interference with the motor grader structure as well as obstacles in the path of the broom. The downward pressure of the broom is controlled by the proportional lift applied thereto by a hydraulic lift mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4640365
Abstract: A row following guidance device connecting the right and left ends of the forward portion of a row crop implement to a tractor will adjust the length of each left and right connection as the tractor deviates laterally from alignment with the crop rows to correctively guide the implement in alignment with the crop rows. A row following wheel signals a steering valve upon any lateral deviation of the implement from crop row alignment, the steering valve correcting the deviation by lengthening one connection between the tractor and the implement and shortening the other. The row following wheel is mounted for movement independent of the implement so that the implement may be raised or lowered without affecting the operation of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4640367
Abstract: A base frame for a roll-over disc plow is symmetrical about a longitudinal axis and is adapted to be secured to a standard tractor hitch. A plow frame overlies and is pivoted to the base frame about the longitudinal axis. The plow frame is hydraulically moved about one hundred eighty degrees between extreme positions, in each instance lying against a respective one of a pair of steps effective to transmit forces between the towed base frame and a plow frame carrying two alternately used series of plow discs.

  • Patent number: 4637474
Abstract: The elevation of a tool carried by an implement towed by a tractor is determined by a hydraulic motor mounted on the implement adjusting the wheel height. A servo valve mounted on the tractor responsive to line pressure controls the hydraulic motor. An operator actuated vent valve mounted on the tractor vents line pressure to control the servo valve. A tool elevation responsive feedback vent valve mounted on the implement increasingly vents line pressure as the hydraulic motor changes tool elevation, to negate the effect of venting by the operator actuated vent valve. When hydraulic motor movement equals movement of the operator actuated vent valve, the feedback venting equals that of the operator actuated bent valve. A second negative feedback on the servo motor pistons then returns the servo valve to neutral closed position and change in tool elevation stops.
