  • Patent number: 9021988
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aquarium cleaning apparatus, systems and methods for removing debris from the aquarium, and in particular, a self-contained cleaning apparatus that utilizes a siphon effect created by pouring water in an aquarium tank and/or pulling water out of an aquarium tank, such as via a vacuum. In a preferred embodiment, the siphon operation occurs because of the difference between the water level of the aquarium tank and the vertical height of a spout attached to the top of a vertical tube. Therefore, it is not necessary for the user to immerse their hands in the aquarium water to operate the cleaning device.

  • Patent number: 9015990
Abstract: A culture container includes a container and a cover. The container forms an opening at the top and an external threaded portion around the opening. The cover includes a main body and a flange extending from the main body. An internal threaded portion corresponding to the external threaded portion is formed on the internal surface of the flange. The cover forms a ventilation passage having an opening formed at a free end of the flange facing away from the main body. When the internal threaded portion is threaded with the external threaded portion so as to close the opening of the bottle, the interior of the bottle communicates with exterior via the ventilation passage. Thus, dust is prevented from falling into the bottle via the ventilation passage.

  • Patent number: 9016238
Abstract: A teat cup has a nozzle in a head portion of a flexible liner of the teat cup for delivering fluid internally of the teat cup. The nozzle is directed so as to discharge fluid towards the discharge end of the teat cup. When milking is terminated, treatment fluid is injected through the nozzle into the head portion of the liner just prior to and/or as the teat cup is being withdrawn from the teat and, the teat cup wipes the fluid down the teat so as substantially to coat the teat. When the teat cup falls into an inverted rest position, after take-off, the interior of the liner may be flushed and dried with disinfectant, water and compressed air discharged upwardly into the liner by the nozzle. The discharge end of the teat cup may be fitted with a shut-off valve which can be actuated to prevent ingress of treatment and cleansing fluids into the milk tubes during the treatment and cleansing cycle.

  • Patent number: 9010017
Abstract: A collector of adult insects, their eggs and larvae has a vacuum-producing motor disposed within a housing. An inlet nozzle is used to draw the targeted organisms into the housing along a flow path featuring grids heated to a degree sufficient to kill the organisms. Mechanical expedients such as fan blades can be disposed in the flow path to apply mechanical killing forces and to blow debris off of adjacent grids. The organisms are directed to a collector which can be heated and which can contain insecticidal substances to provide additional killing expedients for the collected organisms. The flow rate and temperature ranges are adjustable to create sufficient heat and time of contact to kill selected organisms. The collector is especially useful for treating bedbug infestations without the need for toxic chemicals, long-term treatments which make the space being treated uninhabitable and other more extreme treatment regimens.

  • Patent number: 9010680
Abstract: A pylon for attachment of a gas turbine engine to a wing of an aircraft has a trailing edge which is rearward of the trailing edge of the core fairing and the trailing edge of the fan nacelle. The pylon has two laterally-spaced side faces which extend in the rearward direction of the engine to end at the trailing edge of the pylon. Each side face has a bottom edge which extends in a rearward direction of the engine from the core fairing to the bottom end of the trailing edge of the pylon. The bottom edges merge such that the bottom edges form a single bottom edge. The pylon is intended to exert control on the bypass flow of a gas turbine engine. Other pylons are also provided which can also exert such control.
