Abstract: A room temperature rapid-curable silicone composition is provided which includes (A) an organopolysiloxane terminated with hydroxyl groups, having a viscosity of from 25 mPa·s to 1,000,000 mPa·s at 25° C.; (B) a compound selected from the group consisting of a hydrolyzable silane represented by the following general formula (1):

wherein R represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms; X represents a compound selected from the group consisting of a ketoxime group, an alkoxyl group, an alkenoxyl group and an acyloxyl group; and n represents an integer of 0 to 2, and a partial hydrolysis-condensation product thereof; and (C) a water-containing wet-process silica having an average particle diameter of 100 &mgr;m or smaller, which is a chief source for feeding water necessary for condensation curing reaction.
Abstract: There is disclosed a sheet coated with a first silicone compound having a certain surface tension and a second silicone compound having a lower surface tension than the first silicone compound so that only the second silicone compound appears on the sheet surface or the second silicone compound appears on the sheet surface more than the first silicone compound. The sheet thus coated with the silicone compounds are highly water-repellent and highly effective in preventing adhesion of protein-containing stains. Moreover, it is highly resistant to friction so that the above effects can be maintained for a long period of time.

Abstract: Disclosed is an inorganic-organic hybrid polymer composed of nano-particles on the surface using a dendrimer and a manufacturing method thereof, in which nanometer-sized inorganic (metal) particles are uniformly dispersed across the surface of the polymer and available as optically, electrically and magnetically functional materials. The method includes the steps of: forming a functional anhydride group on a polymer-based matrix; selectively adding metal or inorganic salts to the dendrimer to prepare either of dendrimer-metal precursor solution or dendrimer-inorganic particle solution; inducing the reaction between the functional anhydride group of the surface of polymer matrix with the solution to form a chemical bond between the matrix and the dendrimer; and reducing the metal ions or inorganic particle by irradiation of light.

Abstract: The present invention provides adhesive compositions, particularly pressure sensitive adhesive compositions, comprised of from 30 weight percent to 70 weight percent of water insoluble graft copolymers dispersed in an aqueous medium. Abstract: A hydrophobicity imparting particulate is provided in the present invention. A silicone composition comprises (A) a silicone polymer and (B) a hydrophobicity imparting particulate filler that imparts a hydrophobicity property to the composition. An insulator comprises a housing portion that includes a cured product of (A) a silicone polymer and (B) a hydrophobicity imparting particulate filler. A hydrophobicity recovery property of a silicone polymer composition can be improved by determining a target hydrophobicity recovery property for the cured silicone composition, selecting a hydrophobicity imparting particulate (HIP) to impart the hydrophobicity recovery property to the silicone polymer composition and compounding a blend of (A) a silicone polymer and (B) the selected inorganic filler and heating to cure the blend.

Abstract: The reaction product obtained by cohydrolysis and condensation of (A) a fluorinated alkyl-bearing alkoxysilane, (B) an amino-bearing alkoxysilane, and (C) an alkoxysilyl-bearing polyorganosiloxane is dissolved in water to provide a water-soluble, water/oil repellent treating composition. This water/oil repellent treating composition has improved water solubility and shelf stability, has no detrimental effects on the environment because of the aqueous system, and imparts fully durable water repellency and satisfactory softness and hand to textiles.
Abstract: A composition comprises a curable epoxy-containing material, a first thermoplastic polyurethane component, a curative for the epoxy-containing material, and optionally, a second thermoplastic polyurethane component that is different than the first thermoplastic polyurethane component. The compositions are useful for sealing discontinuities in a substrate surface, especially those found in motor vehicles. Sealant articles and methods of sealing discontinuities are also disclosed.

Abstract: A water-repellent coating has tetrafluoroethylene resin powder, silicone resin binder, and organic solvent. The tetrafluoroethylene resin powder has a ratio of the peak absorbance at 1,800 cm−1 to the peak absorbance at 500 cm−1 of 0.0001 to 0.05 exclusive. A coating film is formed by applying such a coating on a substrate. The coating has the properties of high water repellency, excellent anti-ice-coating, excellent anti-snow-coating, and so on, in spite of not having a large amount of fluororesin powder. In addition, the coating of film keeps the water repellency regardless of whether the coating film is immersed into water for a long time.
