Abstract: A method includes displaying a window of a first application which includes text corresponding to a patient identifier for a first patient. The method further includes receiving input corresponding to a preconfigured input sequence associated with an electronic health records (EHR) agent, and initiating, by the EHR agent in response to the preconfigured input sequence, a patient information overlay process. The patient information overlay process includes sending a copy command to copy first text from the window of the first application to the clipboard, accessing the first text, searching the accessed first text for an identification of a patient, determining that the patient identifier represents an identification of a patient, accessing patient information for the first patient based on the patient identifier, and displaying an overlay interface overlaid over the window proximate a cursor, the overlay interface including accessed patient information for the first patient.
Abstract: A method is for managing an electronic medical record (EMR) entry which is to be written into a data storage device possessed by a patient and includes generating information associated with a health professional who provides a health care service that results in the EMR entry, and a location which is related to the health care service, determining whether to permit writing of the EMR entry into the data storage device according to the information thus generated, determining whether the patient agrees with writing of the EMR entry into the data storage device according to input of the patient, and writing the EMR entry into the data storage device when writing of the EMR entry is permitted by the EMR management system and is agreed upon by the patient.
Abstract: Techniques for implementing Quality Assurance of the process of coding medical documents are disclosed. An audit of a coding process for a medical document is initiated by selecting and setting audit parameters. Using the selected parameters, a sample batch of coded documents is obtained from a universe of coded documents. The sample batch of coded documents is presented to auditor(s), and the auditor(s) provide corrections, which are recorded, and a score for each correction is calculated. A sample score, based on the corrections, is calculated in a manner that tracks to subjective auditor assessments of the process quality as being acceptable, marginally acceptable, or unacceptable, and which sample score accounts for the individual auditor subjectivity and an error.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the collection and management of healthcare practitioner profile information prior to inclusion in a hospital directory of affiliated practitioners or insurance provider directory of participating practitioners. Healthcare practitioners (e.g., physicians) enter and communicate changes to their profile data to a central database to increase their compliance and decrease the frequency of providing updated or incomplete information in a hospital or insurance provider directory. The profile data can be credentialed according to rules specific to each hospital or insurance provider, prior to inclusion in the directory. The directory may further provide online booking of available appointment times for affiliated physicians from multiple practice groups. The online booking process can simultaneously be available on multiple websites of a hospital, insurance provider, physician practice group and/or centralized provider (aggregator).

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for the real-time active surveillance of disease. The system generates an outbreak detection model by analyzing the spending records of individuals who are known to be infected to identify purchases and purchase patterns that correlate to infection in the population with a disease. Based on the identified purchases, the system generates probabilistic identification criteria and merges the criteria to simulation models of infection spread by geography to generate a geospatial outbreak detection model. The system applies the generated model to spending records, in real time, to identify and monitor disease spread in the population. The system can also generate alerts if the likelihood that an individual is infected, or one or more individuals in a set or population is infected exceeds a threshold. Actions are taken at remote devices, such as mobile phones, computers and POS terminals in certain embodiments.

Abstract: A card reader configured to read a smart card can be detachably connected to a mobile computing device. When the card reader is attached to the mobile device, an application installed on the mobile computing device permits the mobile device to communicate with the card reader in order to process transactions. Security measures can be used on the mobile device to prevent theft of a PIN during software PIN entry of a payment transaction. The mobile device can prevent the keypad or other input interface from displaying feedback. The mobile device can also prevent passcodes from being stolen by displaying media encoded with digital rights management (DRM) and by managing the media and user inputs at a secure server. A mobile device can securely communicate with a card reader for a payment transaction using asymmetric or symmetric encryption.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for analyzing a medical condition of a user. The apparatus may include a user interface configured to receive user identification information inputted by the user, an analyzer, and a processor all disposed within a common housing. The analyzer is configured to receive a biological specimen from the user and to analyze the biological specimen to generate analysis information. The processor is configured to store and forward the analysis information and to receive prescription information. The apparatus may include a communication unit configured to transmit the user identification information and the analysis information to a doctor at a remote location for review and to receive the prescription information from the doctor. The apparatus then may dispense the prescribed medication or print a medication prescription.
Abstract: Verification that an implantable medical system within a patient is MRI safe is provided. Several verifications may be performed such as verifying that the device and leads are of an MRI safe type, that the leads have adequate electrical integrity, that the device has entered an MRI safe mode, that the lead routing and device placement are MRI safe, and that the MRI settings of the MRI machine are safe for the implantable medical system. The result of these verifications may lead to a conclusion that the implantable medical system of interest is or is not MRI safe for a given MRI scan. An indication of this result may be output such as via a display so that an MRI technician can have some assurance as to whether to conduct the MRI scan.

Abstract: A computer generated 3-D model of the human body (avatar) is created by aggregating personal health and medical data of a user. This data may include data derived from the user's electronic medical record. The user's physical characteristics are entered into the software to generate a personalized avatar that resembles him or her. Data regarding the user's medical history and physical characteristics are visualized on the avatar to map the past and present states of the user, and may be modified by a set of health variables for the purpose of projecting a future body image over established time intervals.
Abstract: Health care costs must be extremely lowered, and the business manner by which it is distributed simplified for the average person. A business method is described that allows the average person to obtain their own blood tests while shopping at a local store. Diagnostics for cancer, heart disease, infection, liver disease, kidney disease, hormonal imbalance, and many other maladies can be ascertained.
Abstract: An equipment mounting apparatus on which a plurality of equipment devices are mountable, each equipment device having, in a memory thereof, drug dosage information associated with drug usage location information, includes a main body having a plurality of installation portions, each installation portion being configured to receive one of the equipment devices.
