Abstract: An airbag system for protecting a body part of a user in case of an accident is provided. The system including an airbag adapted for inflation upon an accident occurring during an intended activity, at least one sensor configured to measure movements of the airbag system, and thus indirect the movements of the user and a control unit configured to determine if the user is in a first activity state not corresponding to the intended activity by processing the output from the at least one sensor.
Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible belt comprising a woven fabric. The woven fabric has approximately parallel straight sides and ends, where the ends are releasably or permanently securable to one another to form an endless loop. The woven fabric contains a set of warp yarns and a set of weft yarns. The set of warp warps are in a warp yarn direction and the warp yarns comprise monofilament warp yarns having a first denier. The set of weft yarns are in a weft yarn direction which is approximately perpendicular to the warp yarn direction. The weft yarns are in a repeating pattern of at least one monofilament weft yarn followed by at least one multifilament weft yarn. The monofilament weft yarn has a linear mass density of at least about 2,500 denier and at least about 5 times the denier of the monofilament warp yarn.

Abstract: An industrial textile (6) for manufacturing a fibrous web has first machine direction yarns (1) on the front side (7) which bind to first cross-machine direction yarns (4) in a first pattern, while second machine direction yarns (2) on the back side bind to second cross-machine direction yarns (5) in a second pattern. Third machine direction yarns (3) bind to the first cross-machine direction yarns (4) and the second cross-machine direction yarns (5) in a third pattern. The third pattern has at least one interlacing point (71) on the front side where one of the third machine direction yarns (3) passes over one of the first cross-machine direction yarns (4) and at least one interlacing point (72) on the back side (8) where the same third machine direction yarn (3) passes under one of the second cross-machine direction yarns (5).

Abstract: A dust hood is provided having a front face of an inelastic material and a rear face of the inelastic material. The front face has a first opening configured to correspond to a location of a user's eye protection when worn by the user. The front face also has a primary breathing opening configured to correspond to a respirator hose or respirator air intake location when worn by a user. The dust hood openings each comprise a gasket for sealing the corresponding openings against corresponding accessories. Accordingly, the first opening gasket seals the hood against a user's eye protection and the second opening gasket seals the primary breathing opening against a user's respirator hose or respirator air intake.

Abstract: Systems and methods of integrating dynamic materials into articles for adjustable physical characteristics, e.g., aesthetic, functional. For example, in response to a human's body heat, a dynamic material may change shape to allow additional permeability in an article of clothing. Similarly, in response to the presence of moisture, an article of clothing may close a vent to prevent the introduction of rain into an internal portion of the article. The shape changing material may change shape that merely affects a feature formed by the shape changing material. Additionally, it is contemplated that the shape changing material may change shape that affects a geometric structure of the article as a whole, e.g., protrusions, dimples, vents, etc.
