  • Patent number: 8717943
Abstract: Methodologies are provided for establishing peer-to-peer communications between nodes in a tree structured network having plural nodes including a root node. A source node seeking to send a message to a destination node will first request a most advantageous available path from the source to the destination node, and then the root node (or possibly another node within the network that has additional storage resources) will provide a routing path to one or both of the source and destination nodes. Messages may then be sent between the source and destination nodes that may or may not include addressing information in the packet headers without having to request routing information again for additional messages between the same nodes.

  • Patent number: 8717884
Abstract: Access routers (100-1 and 100-2) perform packet transfer using an IP address and a port number between a global network allowing mutual access using the IP address and a network other than the global network. Port resource assigning device (400) manages the port number in units of IP addresses, and, when performing the packet transfer, assigns the port number managed by means of the IP address preliminarily provided for access routers (100-1 and 100-2). Access routers (100-1 and 100-2) perform packet transfer using the IP address preliminarily provided for access router (100-1 and 100-2) and the port number assigned by port resource assigning device (400).

  • Patent number: 8705560
Abstract: A communication system includes base stations having an antenna arrangement per sector. Each of the antenna arrangements has an antenna element for generating an array of narrow beams covering the sector. Timeslots are simultaneously transmitted over each beam to generate successive sets of simultaneously transmitted timeslots per sector that are each split into orthogonal codes. Common overhead channels are allocated for successive sets of timeslots, which are allocated to the same subset of codes of each timeslot in the set. For successive sets of timeslots, different data is allocated to the same subset of codes of each timeslot in the set. This generates a sector-wide beam carrying the common overhead channels and a plurality of narrow beams, each carrying different data. An inter-beam handoff scheme allows the antenna arrangement to simultaneously transmits data to a user equipment located in a cusp region between adjacent beams on the adjacent beams.

  • Patent number: 8687639
Abstract: A system for ordering packets. The system includes a first memory, e.g., FIFO, storing transition information for posted packets, e.g., 1 when a posted packet transitions from a non-posted packet and 0 otherwise. A second memory stores transition information for non-posted packets, e.g., 1 when a non-posted packet transitions from a posted packet and 0 otherwise. A counter increments responsive to detecting a transition in the first memory and decrements responsive to detecting a transition in the second memory. A controller orders a posted packet for transmission prior to a non-posted packet if a value of the counter is negative and when a transitional value associated with the non-posted packet is 1, and wherein the controller orders either a posted packet or a non-posted packet otherwise. The first and the second memory may be within a same memory component.

  • Patent number: 8665728
Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying network users who communicate with the network (e.g., the Internet) via a given network connection. The disclosed techniques analyze traffic that flows in the network to determine, for example, whether the given network connection serves a single individual or multiple individuals, a single computer or multiple computers. A Profiling System (PS) acquires copies of data traffic that flow through network connections that connect computers to the WAN. The PS analyzes the acquired data, attempting to identify individuals who login to servers.

  • Patent number: 8665743
Abstract: A statistical transition map is built based on mobile wireless device user mobility history data. This data is useful to assist various wireless local area network applications. Received signal strength and location trace information associated with movements of mobile wireless devices in a wireless network is collected. The received signal strength and location trace information is converted to a sequence of natural language pseudo-location word labels representing pseudo-locations of each mobile wireless device as each mobile wireless device moves about with respect to a plurality of wireless access point devices in the wireless network. A statistical transition map is generated for each mobile wireless device from the sequence of natural language pseudo-location word labels using a natural language model. A probability of a next pseudo-location for a particular mobile wireless device is computed based on its current location and its statistical transition map.

  • Patent number: 8654743
Abstract: A configurable antenna arrangement is disclosed for wireless Positive Train Control system to overcome the deep fading and fast fading issue. The radio channel between a locomotive on-board radio unit and a base station is subject to fast and deep fading. The channel changes rapidly in a short time comparing to the length of the packet. The invention uses a TX antenna and a RX antenna in a time division multiple access (TDMA) radio system associated with control circuits to provide a configurable antenna sub-system. The antenna sub-system is configurable to provide a TX mode, a primary RX mode and a secondary RX mode. In both the TX mode and the primary RX mode, there is substantially no insertion loss. In the secondary RX mode, the TX antenna is used as the secondary RX antenna to overcome fading caused by Doppler shift.
