  • Patent number: 8644235
Abstract: A radio transmitting apparatus wherein even if a preamble sequence transmitted via any one of the antennas of the radio transmitting apparatus is detected, the order of the space diversity can be determined with reliability and data signals can be normally decoded. In this apparatus, a deciding unit (101) decides preamble sequences the number of which is equal to the order of the space diversity and further decides transmission block intervals the number of which is equal to or greater than the order of the space diversity. An allocating unit (102) sequentially allocates the preamble sequences, the number of which is equal to the order of the space diversity, to the respective antennas, the number of which is equal to the order of the space diversity, within the respective transmission block intervals. The allocating unit (102) allocates different ones of the preamble sequences to the respective antennas at the respective same transmission timings that are within the respective transmission block intervals.

  • Patent number: 8644158
Abstract: Example embodiments of the present invention provide systems, method, and apparatuses for selecting a network access provider (NAP). In one embodiment, a worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) femtocell access point (WFAP) sends an NAP request message to a network service provider (NSP). The WFAP receives an NAP response message returned by the NSP, where the NAP response message carries NAP information determined by the NSP. Thereafter, the WFAP can establish a connection with the NAP according to the received NAP information. In other words, independently of the macro network, the WFAP can determine the NAP providing a radio resource for the WFAP and provide radio access service for users of multiple NSP.

  • Patent number: 8638800
Abstract: Techniques have been developed to facilitate evaluation of match and hash rule entries in ways that allow an implementation to decouple (i) the order in which match rules are applied to a first subset of packet header fields from (ii) the ordering of a second subset of packet header fields over which a non-commutative hash is computed. In short, the set and ordering of fields evaluated in accordance with a precedence order of rules need not correspond to the set or ordering of fields over which a hash is computed in a communications controller.

  • Patent number: 8638667
Abstract: In one embodiment, a node may determine a trigger for establishing transmission priority on a path through a shared-media communication network for priority traffic to a particular node. As such, the node may generate a path clear message (PCM) that would instruct one or more receiving nodes along the path to suspend transmission for traffic other than the priority traffic for a specified duration, and also to transmit a local non-repeated distributed message to one or more neighbor nodes of each respective receiving node, the local non-repeated distributed message to instruct the neighbor nodes to suspend transmission for the specified duration. After transmitting the PCM along the path to the particular node to establish the transmission priority for the priority traffic along the path through the shared-media network, the priority traffic may be transmitted to the particular node along the path during the transmission priority.

  • Patent number: 8638787
Abstract: In one embodiment, a particular multicast-enabled device on a LAN may determine that it is to send a Join message to an upstream multicast-enabled device that is configured to source multicast data into the LAN. As such, the particular device may transmit a Join message to the upstream device, where the Join message may have a Hello Request indication when there are no downstream multicast neighbors for the upstream device in the LAN, or may not have the Hello Request indication if there is at least one downstream multicast neighbor for the upstream device. Specifically, the Hello Request requests that the upstream device transmit Hello messages onto the LAN. Multicast-enabled devices in the LAN may thus transmit Hello messages in response to receiving a Join message having a Hello Request directed to that particular device, that is, transmitting the Hello messages so long as there is interest in receiving them.

  • Patent number: 8634418
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for providing extended administrative groups in networks. A network device comprising an interface and a control unit may implement the techniques. The interface receives a routing protocol message that advertises a link. This message includes a field for storing first data associated with the link in accordance with the routing protocol. The field is defined by the routing protocol as a field having a different function from an administrative group field defined by the same routing protocol. The control unit determines that this field has been repurposed to store second data, wherein this second data specifies an extended administrative group for the link different from those that may be specified by the administrative group field. The control unit then updates routing information to associate the advertised link with the extended administrative group and performs path selection to select paths based on the updated routing information.

  • Patent number: 8625612
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method for managing a connection of a user device to a communications network. Various embodiments relate to a Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) receiving a user requests through multiple serving gateways. The PCRN may assign one of the serving gateways as a primary serving gateway when the serving gateway sends a Gateway Control Session that binds to an IP-CAN session established in the PCRN. When the PCRN receives a subsequent message from another serving gateway, the PCRN may reassign the new serving gateway as primary when its Gateway Control Session matches. The PCRN may then mark the former serving gateway as pending termination and signal the marked gateway to terminate. After sending rules to serving gateways not pending termination, the PCRN may delete those serving gateways marked for termination.

  • Patent number: 8619780
Abstract: A distributed system for collecting and processing packet routing information is provided. A service provider, such as a content delivery network service provider, can maintain multiple Points of Presence (“POPs”). Routing computing devices associated with each POP can forward information about the packet routing information to a packet routing management component. The packet routing component can process the information provided by the various POPs. The packet routing component can then update, or otherwise modify, packet routing information used by one or more of the POPs. Accordingly, the packet routing management component can then selectively distribute the updated or modified packet routing information, including the distribution to all POPs, the targeted distribution to specific POPs and the creation of centrally accessible routing information.

  • Patent number: 8619655
Abstract: Cyclic shift delay (CSD) short training field (STF) for use within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. Appropriately designed CSD STF is applied to communications in wireless communication systems thereby ensuring a minimized power error difference between respective portions of a packet transmitted therein. A first portion of the packet may be a short training field (STF) and a second portion of the packet may be a payload (e.g., a data portion). By applying such appropriately designed CSD STF to a packet, a wireless communication device that receives a signal corresponding to that packet need not perform extra or very significant backoff (e.g., with respect to a signal subsequent to automatic gain control (AGC) processing) thereby simplifying processing of that signal and potentially also reducing a total number of effective analog to digital converter (ADC) bits needed to represent a digitally sampled version of that signal.
