Patent number: 8845252Abstract: A bolt (10) for securing timber to any other material, comprises: a bolt head (101) with a series of spiked teeth (102) on its underside; a cylindrical bolt rod (103) extending from the bolt head (101) is threaded and split into two rods (105a,b) at its free end, so as to define a slot (106) therebetween. In use a user drills a hole through pieces of timber to be secured together, and hammers the bolt through the hole. The spiked teeth on the bolt head lock into the timber, securing the bolt at one end. At the free, split end of the bolt rod, a washer and nut are tightened onto the bolt. A cold chisel is hammered into the slot between the split ends of the rod, bending the ends outwards and thus preventing the nut from loosening.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2011Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Inventors: Mark Doye, Daniel Hardingham

Patent number: 8845257Abstract: A fastener is fixed to a body panel by inserting a second portion of a clip and the body panel between a flange-shaped head and deformed bulge created by crimping a blind rivet inserted into a mounting hole in the body panel. Afterwards, when a fender panel is inserted between a first portion and the second portion of the clip, pressure is applied to the inserted fender panel from above and below by ribs and on the first and second portions, thereby clamping the fender panel between the first and second portions, and fixing the fastener to the fender panel. The fastener is positioned inside an anti-rotation depression in the body panel.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2013Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventor: Hiroyuki Kato

Patent number: 8834085Abstract: An injection molded part accommodates a threaded fastener and includes a metal insert. The insert defines a longitudinal axis and has an end face and an outer peripheral surface. A cutout extends from the end face and through the insert to permit the threaded fastener to extend therethrough. A plastic body surrounds the outer peripheral surface and has a threaded fastener contact face. The threaded fastener contact face of the plastic, body is recessed at a recessed distance below the end face of the insert which has a spring constant with respect to the longitudinal axis. The recessed distance and the spring constant are selected to deform the insert in response to a stress force applied to the end face thereof by the threaded fastener to cause a pregiven component of the stress force to be introduced into the threaded fastener contact face of the plastic body.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2013Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: ContiTech Vibration Control GmbHInventors: Diethard Schneider, Thomas Lingner, Jan Brodersen, Guenter Eberhard, Marc Wichmann

Patent number: 8819896Abstract: A window balance assembly comprising an improved locking carrier mechanism is disclosed. The locking mechanism is actuated when the window sash is tilted. Cam surfaces on the receiver of the mechanism engage cam followers in the clamshell-type housing of the carrier forcing them apart outwardly to lock the carrier in the jamb channel of a window assembly and prevent movement of the carrier in the channel. The receiver incorporates two cams that engage two cam follower surfaces in the housing to improve the distribution of the locking forces of the carrier in the jamb channel. A dual-locking carrier expands in both the axial and lateral directions to contact both front and back surfaces and opposing side surfaces of the jamb channel.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2013Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Caldwell Manufacturing Company North America, LLCInventors: Wilbur James Kellum, III, Eric Mertz, Mark R. Patent number: 8821092Abstract: A fastening member includes a bolt and a nut for attaching a compressor to a vehicle body. A non-circular relative rotation prevention portion is formed below a head portion of the bolt. A washer is non-rotatably press fitted around the relative rotation prevention portion. Before the attachment, the head portion and the washer are temporarily fixed with a space generated therebetween. An elastic body, which is attached to the compressor, is disposed between the washer and the nut. A cylindrical member is provided at an inner circumference of the elastic body. As a result, when the nut is screwed, an axial force of the nut is transmitted to the washer via the cylindrical member, and the space between the washer and the head portion is reduced, completing the attachment.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd.Inventors: Shogo Nambara, Hiroshi Fukudome, Kazuhisa Yama
