Abstract: The present invention relates to a semiconductor fabricating apparatus having an electrical system for transmitting a rotatory power through a belt of a motor to a pulley. The semiconductor fabricating apparatus having an electrical system of the present invention includes a sensor disposed in the vicinity of the belt for detecting a distance between the sensor and the belt and generating an electrical signal corresponding to a detected distance; an amplifier for amplifying the electrical signal to generate an amplified voltage; an analog-to-digital converter for converting the amplified voltage into a digital signal; and a controller for comparing the digital signal with a reference signal and determining whether the belt is loose on the pulley so as to generate a control signal.
Abstract: A chain and sprocket system includes a plurality of chains and sprockets. The system includes a crankshaft, an idler shaft and two overhead camshafts. The two sprockets on the idler shaft that connect by chain to drive the camshafts are phased or offset with respect to each other to alter the impact and chordal action generated noise. These idler camshaft sprockets and the idler sprocket of the crankshaft are all manufactured separately and then placed together on a spline or hub. In this way, the idler sprocket assembly consists of four parts, which eases manufacture and assembly.
Abstract: A lower casing hanger including a cylindrical block with two holes is landed on a shoulder in the bore of a wellhead housing. The first hole has shoulders that are inclined relative to the axis of the housing. The second hole is smooth and has a constant diameter. A first string of casing is run through the first hole and a C-shaped annular slips is placed around the casing. The outer surface of the slips has shoulders for engaging the shoulders on the lower casing hanger. The casing is lowered until the shoulders engage, thereby preventing further downward movement of the casing. An upper casing hanger then is placed on top of the lower casing hanger. The upper casing hanger has two holes that align with the holes in the lower casing hanger. The second hole has shoulders that mate with exterior shoulders on a second slips. A second string of casing is run through the second hole and the second slips is placed around the second casing.
Abstract: A phased chain and sprocket assembly is provided in which the pitch length of the chain is not matched to the pitch length of the sprocket. Specifically, the chain link pitch length is approximately twice the pitch length of the associated sprocket teeth. By providing two chains in side-by-side, but offset relation, a phased chain and sprocket assembly can be achieved without the need for circumferentially offset sprockets.
Abstract: A guide rail for power transmission chains consists of a plastic material and is formed by a carrier and a slideway lining body. The slideway lining body is manufactured by an extrusion molding process. The carrier and the slideway lining body having complementary profiles allowing the slide portion to be inserted and locked onto the carrier portion without additional locking mechanisms.

Abstract: In drilling equipment having at least one remote assembly (62) attached to a drill string (12), an electrically actuated disconnect apparatus and method (10) for releasing the remote assembly (62) has an electric signal transmitter electrically connected to a release device (16). The release device (16) operates a retaining device (22) holding strainer blocking devices (24) therein. A strainer (56) is connected to the drill string (12) after the retainer (22) and through which drilling fluid flows until blocked by the strainer blocking devices (24).
Abstract: A reversible bit assembly (8) that includes a reversible bit (10) having a shank (20) and a radially enlarged center portion (22) located midway along the longitude of the shank (20). Opposed cutting tips (24) are located at opposed shank ends (23). The bit (10) is insertable into a bore (12) of a bit block (14) and held therein using a retention mechanism. A preferred retention mechanism includes a circumferential groove (34) in the bit center portion (22) and a cross hole (38) in the bit block (14) located tangent to the bore (12) at a position corresponding to the location of the groove (34) when the bit (10) is inserted in the block (14). A pin (46) inserts into the cross hole (38) to retain the bit (10) at the groove (34). An adaptor sleeve (16) is provided that may be inserted into the block (14) to additionally allow known bits (18) to be used in the block (14).
Abstract: A method of plugging holes, in particular the plugging of drill holes in the earth. The method utilizes a tubular capsule filled with coarse ground sodium bentonite. The capsule, when inserted into the hole, sinks through any mud or slurry material within the hole to rest at the bottom of the hole. If the hole is filled with overly dense material, a rod may be used to force the capsules to the bottom of the hole. The capsule is constructed of a water soluble material and includes a plurality of slots cut along its exterior wall to facilitate expansion and to allow liquid to easily permeate the container. A plastic cap on its upper end allows rods to be forced thereagainst to push the capsule downward without puncturing the capsule. Alternatively, layers of sand may be interspersed with layers of bentonite nodules.
Abstract: A packer is disclosed which uses applied pressure to set the slips and initiate a compressive force on the sealing elements. The compressive force applied to the sealing elements moves components above the sealing elements and allows the available hydrostatic pressure in the wellbore to create an opposing force on the sealing elements to ensure that they properly set. The sealing elements are mounted directly to the packer body, thus eliminating a leakpath from the fluid pressure application port which is located below the sealing elements on the packer body. Various lock rings hold the set of the packer to avoid the creation of boost forces on the sealing elements from applied or induced pressures from above or below the sealing elements. Movement of the body is not required to accomplish setting of this packer. In applications with low hydrostatic pressure, the annulus can be pressurized to assist in obtaining the necessary pack-off pressure.

Abstract: A rotary stuffing box assembly, particularly adapted to form a rotary shaft seal for a downhole well pump includes a housing mountable on the upper end of the well tubing or other support structure and a cover threadedly connected to the housing and forming a closed chamber in the housing for holding a quantity of seal lubricant and/or coolant fluid. A resilient rotary shaft seal element is retained in a seal holder within the housing by an axially split seal retainer which is mountable in a bore in the seal holder. The retainer and the seal holder are retained between opposed transverse faces on the cover and on the housing and the seal holder engages a retaining pin on a threaded plug which closes a fluid drain port of the housing. The seal holder and retainer are operable to undergo limited radial excursion to accommodate eccentricity or excursion of the shaft.

Abstract: This invention relates to power transmission belts having multiple longitudinally extending ribs, and particularly, to an improved belt with a cross sectional profile that includes a clearance space that connects adjacent ribs, curved opposing surfaces in the pulley contact area, and a curved rib apex. The inventive belts cross sectional profile design maximizes the performance of each region of the rib profile. The invention separates the rib profile design into three critical areas: the belts rib.backslash.pulley contact surfaces; the clearance space that connects adjacent ribs and separates the pulley apex from the root of the rib; and the belt rib apex. The improved power transmission belt overcomes piling and noise problems associated with previous belt designs.

Abstract: A directional boring machine is disclosed which is capable of drilling substantially horizontal underground bores of significant length. The boring machine includes a movable carriage, a longitudinal boom mounted on the carriage and a drill head that is mounted on the boom for forward and reversible movement. A first drive normally advances the drill head to accomplish the drilling operation. When an obstacle is encountered, a second drive may be utilized to supplement the first drive to overcome the obstacle. The boom is itself longitudinally slidable relative to the carriage, and the boring machine includes a structure for longitudinally moving the boom between an extended operating position and a retracted transport position.

Abstract: A belt tensioner has a tensioner and a tensioner arm. The tensioner cup has an opening, and the tensioner arm has a lid portion formed at one end. The lid portion is rotatably connected to the cup and extends so as to close the opening thereof. The tensioner also has a torsion spring provided in the cup to act between the cup and the arm so as to elastically urge the arm in a rotational direction. A damping member is secured to the lid portion of the arm such that an outer circumferential surface of the damping member is in sliding contact with an inner circumferential surface of the cup. Further, the tensioner has a ring-like spring provided in the damping member so as to elastically urge the damping member against the inner circumferential surface of the cup. The lid portion of the arm has at least two columnar pin-like elements protruding therefrom parallel with a swing axis of the lid portion of the arm, and the columnar pin-like elements are inserted in holes formed in the damping member.
