Abstract: A computer-implemented method for granting a user access to an on-line banking area of a website belonging financial institution responsive to receiving the valid user name and password. The method providing the user with account information regarding checking, savings, mortgage, home equity and/or loan accounts held by the user at the financial institution. The method grants the user access to a request tracking area of the web site of the financial institution, receive request related data from the user, the request related data including data relating to at least one expense or goal, calculate portions of each expense respectively owed by each of a plurality of participants in the request and track whether a participant has paid. The method includes sending a message to at least one participant, the message requesting payment for the portion owed by the participant and receiving the payment from the participant in various payment forms.

Abstract: A point-of-sale system includes a stand that supports a tablet computer. The tablet computer can run a merchant application to provide the typical functionality for a point-of-sale system. The stand can be rotatable to face either the merchant or the customer. The stand can incorporate a card reader. The tablet computer can be connected through a hub to other peripheral components, such as a controllable cash drawer, a printer and/or a bar code reader. The cash drawer can include a slidable drawer having sliding rails that are hidden from a top view of the drawer.

Abstract: A checkout system includes a checkout station having a housing, an attendant work station, a customer unloading station and an exceptions processing subsystem. A point-of-sale system has a microprocessor and memory operatively associated with one another to identify products being purchased, payments tendered therefor and to store transaction information locally at the checkout station or remotely from the checkout station. The microprocessor has programming configured to allow an item to be scanned by a product identification scanner and in communication with the exceptions processing subsystem. Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, software, and devices, such as product scanners e.g., barcode scanners) enabled to detect item substitution fraud during a checkout process at facilities, such as retail outlets. One method embodiment that may be performed in part on a product scanner, includes detecting, on a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, an event occurrence associated with at least one validation process. The method may then receive an image from each of at least one camera of a plurality of cameras of the product scanner. The method further includes processing at least one of the received images according to the at least one validation process to obtain a result and providing the result to the POS terminal.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for handling web-based purchase requests. A customer request for content of a third party content provider is received at a charging service provider. An authorization code on behalf of the content provider is generated and returned to the customer via a channel other than a channel which links the customer with the third party content provider. The authorization code is accepted from the third party content provider as received by the third party content provider from the customer, the authorization code is verified, and charging for the requested content is executed.

Abstract: In an aspect, a system is provided for determining an energy usage cost over a time period for a selected unit of a multi-tenanted building. The system includes a fluid mover for the selected unit, configured to operate at at least one pre-selected volumetric flow rate to deliver fluid flow to the selected unit; and a monitoring system configured to: a) detect uses of the fluid movers and detect the associated flow rate; b) determine the duration of use of each fluid mover; c) determine an energy usage cost for the selected unit based on the durations of use, on the flow rate associated with each detected use, on the durations of use for the other fluid movers, and based on a total energy usage cost for all the units of the multi-tenanted building; and d) indicate the energy usage cost for the unit for the time period.

Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating a program with participating merchants and consumers are described. In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a wish list of a user. The wish list may include items or services sold by merchants participating in the program. The wish list may be published to the merchants participating in the program. A location of the user may be determined, and an offer from one of the participating merchants may be received, where the offer is based on the location of the user. A total cost of the offer may be calculated by analyzing the offer. The user may be notified of the offer and the total cost.

Abstract: A catalog of services defines which storage-related services are applied to each service level of storage where storage capacity is managed and allocated in terms of chunks of capacity at different service levels. Each service level is defined based on one or more of tiered storage policy settings, drive size, drive speed, drive count, RAID protection, engine fractions, bandwidth and availability and characterized by one or more performance capabilities. Examples of services in the catalog include but are not limited to mobility, availability, continuity, and recovery services. Any combination of services, or no services at all, can be associated with a given service level of storage. Services may be performed at different performance levels. Further, services may be provided on-demand and billed on a usage basis.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, are described that receive, from a device, a request to obtain an amount of physical items from an account, the account defining a total quantity of the physical items able to be obtained from the account, and the account being maintained across multiple locations at which the physical items are stored. The request is transmitted to at least one computer that manages inventory of the physical items for at least one of the multiple locations. Inventory availability information is received from the at least one computer that manages inventory of the physical items, including information regarding availability of the amount of physical items, and availability of a combination of differently-sized subunits of physical items that satisfy the requested amount. The inventory availability information is then transmitted to the device.

Abstract: An example carwash method involves a customer using a smartphone with an app for finding participating carwash locations, making online payments for select carwash options, and then using the smartphone app to start the washing process when the customer arrives at the carwash. Various means can be used for determining when the vehicle is at the carwash entrance. Examples of such means include, but are not limited to, reading the GPS coordinates of the smartphone in the vehicle; establishing Bluetooth, WiFi or some other limited-range wireless communication link between the smartphone and the local carwash controller; displaying and manually entering a code or password at the carwash; and scanning a QR code displayed on the smartphone. During the carwash operation, in some examples, the smartphone app provides the customer with an emergency stop option.

Abstract: A system and method for conveying product information. The system includes an interactive product guide that has product options linked to a product database comprising product data organized in an ontology and a taxonomy. The product options dynamically switch from being available or unavailable for selection by a user depending on prior option selections by the user. Product data from the product database corresponding to products characterized by the selected options are presented to the user. Methods for using the system include presenting the system to a user for interaction therewith.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses and computer-readable media for analyzing vehicle claim information from a vehicle that is deemed a total loss to determine one or more parts that may be removed from the total loss vehicle for reuse is presented. In some arrangements, the parts identified for reuse may be identified prior to removal from the total loss vehicle and may be identified as available inventory and may include a future availability date. One or more repair shops may then request the parts available for reuse and the part may be reserved for that shop until it becomes available.

Abstract: Methods and corresponding system are provided herewith that, in at least one embodiment, include the act or acts of: determining that a service provided by a restaurant is available for bidding. The service is provided for a particular time and a particular date. The methods and system also include receiving a bid for the service provided by the restaurant, in which the bid is associated with a first amount; storing the bid with a plurality of other bids in a storage device; and comparing the bid with at least one other bid that is submitted for reserving the service. The at least one other bid is associated with a second amount. The methods and system also include determining that the first amount is greater than the second amount; and outputting an indicia that grants the request to reserve the service provided by the restaurant to a highest bidder, in which the first amount submitted by the highest bidder is greater than the second amount.

Abstract: A system and method comprising receiving a request to access a first set of details associated with a first transaction conducted by a user, the request including first information that corresponds to a first asset under the control of the user, determining an identity of the user based at least in part on the first information, and identifying a second transaction likely to be associated with the user, the second transaction being associated with second information that corresponds to a second asset different than the first asset. The system and method further including requesting confirmation from the user that the second asset is under the control of the user, and, upon receiving the confirmation, associating the first and second transactions with the first and second information.

Abstract: In electronic financial transactions a receiver, or targeted recipient of funds, provides account information to a transmitter, or sender of funds. The transmitter initiates a push of funds from a transmitter funding source to the receiver's funding source processor. In some embodiments the receiver provides a payment card, similar to a credit card, which is read by an electronic device of the transmitter, such as a smart phone. In some embodiments, the receiver provides the account information by way of a bar code, such as a QR code, which is scanned and read by the transmitter's electronic device.
