Abstract: An electrophotographic photosensitive member have a photosensitive layer, said photosensitive layer comprising at least one dis-azo pigment of Formula (I) or Formula (II) shown below: ##STR1## wherein Z represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or >N--A.sub.2, wherein A.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl, A.sub.1 a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl or a halogen atom; Ph.sub.1 an unsubstituted or substituted phenylene group, n an integer of 0 or 1, and B.sub.1 a coupler residue; with proviso that when n is 0, Z is an oxygen atom and A.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, the case where Ph.sub.1 represents substituted phenyl radicals except for unsubstituted or mono-substituted phenyl radicals with a halogen atom, a lower alkyl or an alkoxy group;and ##STR2## wherein Ph.sub.2 represents an unsubstituted or substituted phenylene group and B.sub.2 a coupler residue.
Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved positively charged toner composition comprised of (1) a styrene butadiene copolymer plasticizer blend, containing from about 92 percent by weight to about 97 percent by weight of styrene butadiene copolymer, and from about 3 percent by weight to about 8 percent by weight of plasticizer, the styrene butadiene copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of from about 45,000 to about 155,000, and a molecular weight distribution of about 7, the copolymer further containing from about 85 percent by weight of styrene to about 93 percent by weight of styrene, and from about 7 percent by weight of butadiene to about 15 percent by weight of butadiene, (2) pigment particles, and (3) a charge enhancing additive.

Abstract: An electrophotographic copying method suitable for a toner image transfer type copying apparatus is disclosed. Using a photosensitive member which comprises at least a photoconductive layer formed over a conductive base which is prepared from a dispersion of a photoconductive material including at least cadmium sulfide in a binder resin and in which a portion of photosensitive member is used repeatedly for forming an image of original to be copied, the method is characterized by performing a first step of charging said photosensitive member to high potential and to the same polarity as applied thereto for the formation of electrostatic latent images and subsequently exposing to light to sensitize said photosensitive member, said high potential being high enough to saturate the degree of sensitization; and a second step of charging the photosensitive member after the first step, and subsequently exposing the photosensitive member to an optical image to form an electrostatic latent image thereon.
Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for producing amorphous silicon layers for solar cells or electrophotography by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CVD) through glow-discharge decomposition of a reaction gas containing monosilane or a higher order silicon hydride in a reaction chamber. Deposition rate and efficiency of reaction gas usage are improved by the selective removal of hydrogen gas reaction product from the reaction chamber. In one embodiment, a filter which is more permeable to hydrogen gas than to the reaction gas is placed in the vacuum pumping port of the reaction chamber. The filter comprises either a palladium film or a bundle of small diameter tubes made from a polyimide system polymer. In another embodiment of the invention, a porous sintered material containing La-Ni alloy is used to selectively adsorb hydrogen gas in the reaction chamber.
Abstract: A press-fixing type electrostatic recording material having an excellent recording property comprises a substrate having a low surface resistivity of 10.sup.9 ohms or less and an electrostatic recording resinous layer which is formed on at least one surface of the substrate and which comprises a polyester resin and an anhydrous aluminum silicate uniformly mixed with the polyester resin.
Abstract: A bicomponent filament of nylon and polyester having a reduced tendency to pre-split, said filament being substantially free from antimony or any other material that will form a deposit on the walls of the spinneret aperture, and the process of preparing said filament. The filament has a substantially uniform cross sectional dimension throughout its length.
Abstract: Electrophotographic recording materials which comprise an electrically conductive base, charge carrier-producing compounds (sensitizers), and compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, possess high photoconductivity and low conductivity in the dark, and contain, as charge carrier-transporting compounds, 1,2,3-triazoles of the fomula ##STR1## are used for reprographic purposes and for the production of electrophotographic printing plates, in particular offset printing plates.

Abstract: Suds control agents for addition to detergent compositions are prepared by a granulation process. In the process core particles of gelatinised starch are granulated with a silicone oil admixed with hydrophobic silica. The granules are then coated with wax by spraying from a solution in an organic solvent. Typically the granules produced contain 45-55%, silicone oil compound 35-50% and wax 7-15% gelatinized starch.
