Abstract: Low-foam or foam-depressing surfactant mixtures based on water-soluble and/or water-emulsifiable polyalkylene glycol ethers of relatively long-chain alcohols containing components I, II and, if desired, III in the quantities indicated:(I) from 20 to 80% by weight of polyethylene glycol ethers corresponding to the following general formulaR.sub.1 --O--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --R.sub.2 (I)in which R.sub.1 is a straight-chain or branched C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 alkyl or alkenyl radical, R.sub.2 is a C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 alkyl radical and n is a number of from 3 to 7,(II) from 10 to 40% by weight of alkyl polyalkylene glycol mixed ethers corresponding to the following general formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.3 is a straight-chain or branched C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 alkyl radical, x is a number of from 1 to 3 and y is a number of from 3 to 6, and(III) from 0 to 40% by weight of alkyl (poly)propylene glycol ethers corresponding to the following general formula ##STR2## in which R.sub.4 is a straight-chain or branched C.sub.

Abstract: A hydrocarbon-soluble corrosion inhibitor composition comprising the reaction product obtained by the acid-catalyzed oligomerization of alkylaniline, formaldehyde, and an aromatic compound selected from aniline, phenol, alkylphenol and an ethoxylated alkylphenol. Also disclosed is a method of inhibiting corrosion of a corrodible metal utilizing said composition.
Abstract: A liquid ear cleansing composition for topical application to ears is disclosed. The composition has a pH of about 1.9 to about 2.7 and includes an acid buffer system. The composition also includes propylene glycol as a solvent, a thickening agent and a surface active agent. The ear cleansing composition is effective against yeast infections in dissolving ear wax and as a carrier material for topical application of antibiotics and steroids.
Abstract: Methods for producing a contact lens one-step cleaning and disinfecting tablet designed to be dissolved in water comprising:(A) preparing a tablettable neutralizing core mixture consisting essentially of at least one biocompatible reducing agent, at least one biocompatible catalyst, and at least one first buffering agent;(B) forming a core tablet from the mixture of step (A);(C) preparing a jacket mixture consisting essentially of at least one biocompatible cleaning and disinfecting agent and a second buffering agent; and(D) enveloping the core tablet of step (B) with the jacket mixture of step (C) so that it is completely surrounded by a stable outer layer thereof,as well as tablets produced by such methods.

Abstract: A liquid general-purpose cleaner, having improved non-streak and cleaning properties, is obtained if in a liquid-compatible medium which comprises a nonionic surfactant, an at least partially esterified resin and water or a mixture of water and a water-miscible organic solvent, as nonionic a topped nonionic surfactant is used containing less than 2% by weight of non-alkoxylated material and less than 4% by weight of mono-alkoxylated material. By using this nonionic surfactant, less partially esterified resin and less perfume are required to achieve effects similar to those obtained when a non-topped nonionic surfactant is used.
Abstract: Detergent compositions capable of providing through-the-wash softness and other fabric-care benefits are disclosed, which contain a specific amide softening agent.

Abstract: The new agent, based on glycols and water and having crosslinked acrylic polymers as thickener and also customary corrosion inhibitors, surfactants belonging to the group of alkali metal alkylarylsulfonates and neutralizing agent to adjust the pH to a basic value, contains, as the thickener, two selected crosslinked acrylic polymers in a specific ratio by weight to one another, namely a selected crosslinked acrylic acid or alkali metal acrylate homopolymer and a selected crosslinked acrylic acid/acrylamide or alkali metal acrylate/acrylamide copolymer in a ratio by weight of 2 to 10:1 and, as the neutralizing agent, three alkaline compounds, each in a selected amount, namely ammonia, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine and/or triethanolamine as the first alkaline compound, potassium hydroxide as the second alkaline compound and a further alkali metal hydroxide as the third alkaline compound.

Abstract: A modified vegetable protein adhesive binder and a process for producing the same is disclosed wherein an alkaline protein dispersion is treated with organosilane reagent in an amount sufficient to modify the protein material. The modified vegetable protein adhesive binder provides greater pigment structuring when employed in paper coating compositions containing pigment and other materials such as latex. The modified binder also results in coatings with an improved degree of wet rub resistance.
