  • Patent number: 10237415
Abstract: A method of managing communications between communication devices within a digital intercom system includes providing input and output tables for each communication device. The tables for each device are made up of cells formed from linear arrays corresponding to communication channels and the other devices. When two devices communicate on a given channel, a cell in the appropriate input and output table is identified based on the channel and the devices communicating. The cells provide volume control information which can be relied upon to determine if or to what degree audio signals should be transferred between the devices.

  • Patent number: 10218840
Abstract: A connection manager manages connections for associated user devices by determining whether an incoming connection has been answered at a user device, and if so then generating and transmitting silencing commands to associated user devices using first and second wireless communication modes, with one mode being faster. Connections can comprise phone calls, and modes can comprise push and Bluetooth® messaging. The connection manager can instruct device outputs to provide connection alerts, limited to visual alerts when an associated user device is active, listen for associated user device communications, and instruct device outputs to stop providing alerts when a silencing command is received. Further, a connection manager can receive a signal regarding a headset status, route an outside connection from a phone to the headset when the headset is active or to another device when the headset is not active, detect a change in headset status, and reroute the connection accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10178509
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to a tracking objects using a cognitive heterogeneous ad hoc mesh network. Participant objects transmit notification signals to inform other participant objects in line-of-sight of their position and movement. The participants also utilize echoes of the notification signals to detect and estimate the position and movement of non-participant objects. Participant objects can then share this positional information with one another to refine the estimated position and movement of non-participant objects. The position of each other participant and non-participant object is updated based on an individualized update rate that dynamically changes based on the distance and velocity of closure between the participant and the other participant or non-participant object.

  • Patent number: 10149278
Abstract: Techniques for coalescing alert notifications for applications and/or services to a primary user device of a set of multiple associated user devices within proximity of each other. When a user device is not in proximity to other associated user devices, the user device functions as a primary user device and provides alert notifications based on a default configuration and/or a user configurable setting. When the user device is within proximity of one or more other associated user devices, the user devices exchange relevant capability information and information for applications that are synchronized via network-based services. The user devices negotiate to determine a user device that serves as the primary user device to provide alert notifications for a set of applications and services common to a set of user devices. The other user devices are configured to reduce and/or suppress the alert notifications.

  • Patent number: 10133318
Abstract: PDAs can be used to provide their users with various functions. One such function is the ability to contact other users who are stored in the PDA as contacts, for example by telephone of text message. The decision as to whether or not a particular user should be contacted may be influenced by the location of that user. For example, if a contact is nearby, then it may be more likely that the user of the PDA would want to contact them. The present embodiments provide a PDA on which the location of one or more contacts can be displayed. Furthermore, the location of a particular contact can be shown on a map on the screen of the PDA simply by tilting the PDA through a predetermined angle about a horizontal axis. Thus, the map can be displayed in an intuitive and straightforward manner.

  • Patent number: 10129702
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for determining semantic location information. In particular, one or more computing devices can receive, from an application program executing on at least one of the one or more computing devices, an application programming interface (API) call requesting semantic information about a location of at least one of the one or more computing devices. Responsive to receiving the API call, the one or more computing devices can determine semantic information for the location and can return the semantic information for the location to the application program via the API. The semantic information for the location can comprise data semantically identifying the location and indicating whether a user associated with the one or more computing devices is stationary at the location or in transit from the location.
