Abstract: A computer-implemented method for dynamically modifying rules for selecting suitable mobile networks. The method may include (1) identifying a set of predefined rules for selecting suitable mobile networks with which to connect, (2) obtaining a training data set that includes data about at least one candidate mobile network, (3) using machine learning to dynamically adjust, based at least in part on the training data set, the set of predefined rules, and (4) connecting to a suitable mobile network identified by the dynamically adjusted set of predefined rules. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining and updating coordinates of access points (APs) within a location tracking system. Tools and techniques are described that may provide for automatically determining a coordinate set, which represents coordinates of at least three neighboring APs within a location tracking area. These techniques may be utilized at the time of the APs' deployment and/or when APs are moved or relocated to a new location. The methods, systems, and devices may be applicable to single- and multi-floor location tracking systems. Coordinate and/or coordinate sets of APs may be stored in a location tracking server, and they may used in determining a location of tracking tags with the location tracking area. The stored coordinates and/or coordinate sets may be updated as the location of APs change.
Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system that automatically enforces a quiet mode of operation for a wireless handset comprises a cellular telecommunication network, and a wireless handset configured to transmit voice and data information to, and configured to receive voice and data information from the cellular telecommunication network. The wireless handset comprises a quiet mode controller configured to disable the wireless handset from issuing the audible notification when the wireless handset is in a designated quiet zone location.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and corresponding apparatus to make use of hybrid-ARQ repetition factors as a way to differentiate service quality to various mobile terminals. Depending on a mobile terminal's subscription service class, such as the mobile terminal's PLMN, the mobile terminal may be made to use a particular hybrid-ARQ repetition factor. For instance, a mobile terminal of a high service class may be made to use a low hybrid-ARQ repetition factor, which may help the mobile terminal experience less downlink transmission delay and thus a higher downlink data rate. Whereas, a mobile terminal of a low service class may be made to use a high hybrid-ARQ repetition factor, which may cause the mobile terminal to experience more downlink transmission delay and thus a lower downlink data rate, and may further free up downlink transmission resources to facilitate better service for other mobile terminals.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for minimizing potential security problems and battery power usage in a tracking device used in tracking an associated product while being transported along a route wherein wireless communication may be nonexistent or intermittent. This is accomplished in part by having an accessible database of signal quality and strength at a large plurality of locations along given transportation routes whereby adjustments can be made as to the times for the tracking device to obtain GPS location information as well as for times to report any location and or product status data to a remotely located central station. The ability to predict when, along a transportation route communication problems may occur provides the opportunity to notify appropriate authorities in advance of arriving at the communication gap zones whereby arrangements can be made to alleviate potential problems during transportation through wireless communication “gap or dead” zones.
Abstract: A method of processing transactions is described. A pricing matrix is configured on a billing server. The pricing matrix has a set of cells, each cells corresponding to an intersection between a respective country and a respective target price. The merchant server downloads the pricing matrix periodically from the billing server. The merchant server determines a country of a consumer mobile phone and displays price points corresponding to the country within a mobile phone application. When the consumer selects one of the price points a transaction is processed between the consumer mobile phone, the billing server and a carrier server aligned with the billing server.

Abstract: System and method for automatic detection and recovery of malfunction in mobile devices are provided. A mobile device is described, that comprises one or more resources operatively coupled to at least one sensor directly or indirectly coupled to a recovery block. The sensor is configured to monitor at least one of the resources for information, possibly indicative of at least one affected resource, and to report, directly or indirectly this information and/or derivative thereof to the recovery block. In addition, the recovery block is configured to initiate at least one recovery-related action in respect of at least one of the resources in case the received information and/or derivative thereof meets a certain criterion.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for tracking and recording movements of a communication device. The mobile communication device is operable to communicate one or more sensor signals to the system, wherein the sensor signals are indicative of motion associated with activities to which the user exposes the mobile communication device. The system includes a computing hardware that analysis sensor signals to classify them into one or more temporal zones, determines a most likely activity type associated with a given temporal zone, and sends the information regarding most likely activity to the mobile communication device. The user of the mobile communication device provides their confirmation whether the most likely activity type represents a correct analysis, and communicate the confirmation back to the computing hardware for amending parameters and/or algorithms which execute analysis of the sensor signals to improve their accuracy.
