  • Patent number: 4783976
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool for textile machines, particularly knitting machines, including a shank having at least one butt and at least one closed or open-edged free space or opening formed in the shank and filled with a heterogeneous material firmly bonded to the needle shank. The shank edges outlining the free space or opening are given an irregular profile with which the heterogeneous material is anchored in the shank in a form-locking manner. According to a preferred embodiment, the shank has two spaced solid guide portions extending between its upper and lower edges with one of the guide portions being disposed in alignment with and below the butt, and at least one narrow web portion having a maximum height of 1.1 mm connecting the two guide portions together so that the facing edges of the guide portions and an edge of the web portion or portions defines the opening in the shank.

  • Patent number: 4783858
Abstract: A sweater having windbreaking characteristics especially usable by active sportsmen such as golfers who must concentrate on their golf swing, is disclosed. The sweater is a relatively thin pullover type which has an outer layer and a layer adjacent the wearer's body of flexible, quiet, warm and soft material with a very thin windproofing layer sandwiched between the outer layer and body layer. Said windproofing layer is divided into five sections or parts: a torso and two lower arm sections which are loosely attached to the inner-facing surface of the outer layer and two upper arm sections loosely attached to the outer facing surface of the body layer in a manner that the windproofing layer does not make any noise, can be very thin because it is protected by the inner and outer layer, and does not restrict the freedom of movement of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 4781040
Abstract: Disclosed is a latch needle for knitting machine to be readily assembled from a latch having a pair of transversely protruded pivots and plastically formed from a synthetic resin, as well as an extended needle body consisting of a shank portion. A hook portion is formed at one end thereof and a butt portion at the other end, in which said shank portion has a slot defined by opposite side walls, each having a hole for engagement with each of said pivots. A pair of slanted bottom walls receive said latch for angular movement, which is also plastically formed from the synthetic resin. Owing to slanted face formed on said pivots or said side walls, the latch may be pushed or stricken down in the slot with resiliently spreading the side walls.

  • Patent number: 4777808
Abstract: A cloth draw-off roller for flat knitting machines has individual roller elements rotatably mounted on a draw-off shaft and intermediate rings arranged with axial play relative thereto between the roller elements, which intermediate rings are rigidly secured to the draw-off shaft and are resiliently connected to respect roller elements. In order to ensure mutually independent operation of the roller elements, means are provided which establish a minimum axial spacing between mutually facing surfaces of axially sequential intermediate rings, which spacing is larger than the axial spacing of the two faces of the respective roller element coming into contact with these surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4774818
Abstract: A device for the determination of the position of leading or trailing draw-down elements which can be shifted to operated in opposite directions in flat-bed knitting machines has a single step motor for shifting the draw-down elements, a position sensor and a switching element movable in relation to each other and cooperating with each other, the switching element indicating a basic position of the two draw-down elements. So that in such a device besides the basis position of the two draw-down elements the shifted position, i.e. which of the two draw-down elements is in the draw-down position, can be machine-internally determined, a second switching element is provided, which is operationally connected with the position sensor, the second switching element and the position sensor being movable in relation to each other and the second switching element being synchronously movable with the first switching element.

  • Patent number: 4770009
Abstract: A mechanism selects and controls the raising and lowering of needles in circular and flat bed knitting machines having a plurality of adjacent needles. A rocking pusher is provided for each needle to move each needle back and forth between an outwardly projecting active position and an inward inactive position. Each rocking pusher is engaged with a corresponding cam when the needle is in the engaged position, and is disengaged from the cam in the inactive position. A deflector corresponds to each rocking pusher, and is engageable with a cam profile, which determines the movement of the deflector for its engagement with the rocking pusher. This moves the rocking pusher from the active position to the inactive position. A controllable retaining member engages the deflector to cause the engagement of the deflector with the cam profile. The retaining member is controlled by a control program member, which is controlled by a control program.

  • Patent number: 4766742
Abstract: An automatic flat knitting machine needle beds feature equidistantly spaced slots, perpendicular to the direction of travel of a carriage, inside each of which is inserted a needle and a sinker for selecting the latter, the needle featuring a butt that is mounted on it by means of a spring extension bent towards the inside of its related slot, so that the butt of the non-selected needle is not struck by the operational cams of the carriage, whereas the butt of the selected needle is struck by the operational cams of the carriage, due to the fact that the extension is bent towards the outside of the slot as a result of its having been struck by the upper head of the selection sinker.
