  • Patent number: 7945668
Abstract: A method for performing a network operation is disclosed. The method includes obtaining an association matrix representing association parameters between first entities and second entities of the network, generating a reduced matrix of the association matrix by aggregating the first entities into a reduced number of representative entities, partitioning a set containing the representative entities and the second entities into intermediate co-clusters based on a reduced-matrix based cohesiveness criterion, generating an expanded intermediate co-cluster from an intermediate co-cluster, partitioning the expanded intermediate co-cluster into final co-clusters based on an association-matrix based cohesiveness criterion, generating a profile of network activities based on the final co-clusters, and performing the network operation based on the profile of the network activities.

  • Patent number: 7945652
Abstract: This invention takes the course of evolution and creating a web based computer user work environment for a control management station and its associated systems on the network crossing Intranet, Internet or LAN. Therefore, users can access and manage the control management station and all its associated system through web browser on any other systems or devices. To establish a web based computer user work environment, the resources information on control management station and on associated systems on network need to be collected and convert them to standard structured format for web based communication and further displaying them in web browser. These information need to be collected by control management station at its and the associated systems' boot up time or at the time when a user logins and requests to access and manage these resources.

  • Patent number: 7941521
Abstract: A monitoring system is described which simplifies the management of complex, multi-tiered networks such as those used in large enterprises. One embodiment of the system is implemented on a cluster of application servers which are communicatively coupled together on a network to serve applications over the network to a plurality of clients. One embodiment of the monitoring system is built from a group of services. An administration service generates a plurality of runtime management beans (“MBeans”) on each of the server nodes of the cluster and associates each of the runtime MBeans with specified server node resources. In addition, in one embodiment, a notification service generates cluster-wide notifications in response to certain specified events associated with certain resources of certain MBeans. The notification service distributes the notifications across all, or a subset of, the server nodes of the cluster.

  • Patent number: 7941491
Abstract: A method and system that dynamically ranks electronic messages based on their situational and inherent dimensions, which are judged by a set of filters. These filters evaluate the different elemental metadata constituting a message and produce a priority value based on filters relevance and importance. The system iterates through queued messages, examine the structured content for expected attributes, statistically analyze unstructured content, apply dynamically weighted rules and policies to deliver a priority ranking, and then display the message and its vital attributes in accordance with the priority ranking. The system also adaptive learns and adjusts its weighted rules and policies to permit priority ranking to change on real-time or interval-based (may be user-defined) schedule. The system includes a GUI for increasing reading and processing efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7937499
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing packets in a computer system including an operating system and a network interface card (NIC) are disclosed. The NIC having a plurality of ring buffers is configured to operate in either a polling mode or an interrupt mode for a particular ring buffer. When the NIC is in the polling mode for a ring buffer, the NIC is periodically polled to determine whether one or more packets have been received by the ring buffer. When the NIC is in the interrupt mode, the operating system is capable of receiving an interrupt indicating that the ring buffer of the NIC has received one or more packets. The operating system is capable of instructing the NIC to change its mode from the polling mode to the interrupt mode for a particular ring buffer, and from the interrupt mode to the polling mode for a particular ring buffer.

  • Patent number: 7925766
Abstract: A system and method for aiding the handling of DDoS attacks in which VPN traffic entering an ISP network at some points will be black-holed, while VPN traffic entering the ISP network at other points will be routed, as it should be, to the system-under-attack. Thus, the system-under-attack is made available to some of the user community and made unavailable to suspect portions of the user community. Furthermore, the number of entry points where black-holing of VPN traffic occurs can be selected and changed in real-time during a DDoS attack.

  • Patent number: 7921216
Abstract: The present invention provides for an automated, user friendly way of constructing and using a binding object. A developer is presented with and selects binding elements that will ultimately be used to create a runtime communication channel for transporting a message between a client and service endpoint. After receiving the user input, metadata, a channel factory and listener factory are created. The metadata describes binding elements and provides an abstract representation of a protocol stack that implements communication aspects at runtime. The channel factory is configured to use the collection of metadata at runtime to generate the runtime communication channel. Further, the listener factory is configured to accept the runtime communication channel for de-multiplexing the communication aspects in order to process the message at a service endpoint. The present invention also provides for groupings of binding elements and standardized binding objects organized based on industry need.

  • Patent number: 7917592
Abstract: During an initial scan of a journal inbox, journal reports are modified so that the Internet Message ID in the text body appears as a custom message ID value in a new custom message ID MAPI property created on the journal reports. Further, the message class value of the message class MAPI property on the journal reports is modified to a journal part. During a secondary scan of the journal inbox, related journal parts are grouped together based on the custom message ID value. Also, the message class value is modified to prevent the journal reports from being considered in subsequent initial or secondary scans. One of the journal reports of the group is selected as a master copy. A new custom related journal parts MAPI property is created on the master copy that includes a related journal parts value which is a list of identifiers that can be used to locate the other related journal parts of the group.

  • Patent number: 7908328
Abstract: Identification of email forwarders is described. In an implementation, a method includes using heuristics to identify email forwarders for use in a reputation system for locating spammers. In another implementation, a method includes determining a likelihood that a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address corresponds to an email forwarder and processing email originating from the particular IP address based on the determined likelihood. In a further implementation, a method includes collecting heuristic data that describes characteristics of emails sent from one or more Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and constructing a model from the heuristic data for identifying whether at least one of the IP address is an email forwarder. In yet a further implementation, a method includes identifying that a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address likely corresponds to an email forwarder and processing email from the particular IP address based on an implied sender of the email.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and machine-readable articles of manufacture facilitate configuration of a networked messaging system. In some embodiments, nodes of the system are automatically interrogated to obtain current configuration information of each of the nodes, and a configuration file with the nodes' current configuration information is generated and stored in a format that is readily editable. Exemplary formats include spreadsheet, comma separated variables, and other text formats. An administrator is allowed to access and edit the configuration file, resulting in an updated configuration file with updated configuration information. Editing may include adding and removing servers, creating and removing digital networking mailboxes or links on the nodes, and other configuration changes.
