  • Patent number: 10414334
Abstract: Systems and methods of automatically operating a vehicle's hazards lights are provided. The speed of vehicle can be determined. When the speed of the vehicle is compared to an expected speed of the vehicle given various operating conditions, e.g., the output of the vehicle's engine (engine RPM) or motor (motor rotation), is slower than expected, it is assumed that the vehicle is towing a load. When the vehicle is towing a load and is also traveling at a speed that is substantially slower than the flow of traffic, a current speed limit, etc., a determination can be made to automatically activate the vehicle's hazard lights. Alternatively, even if the vehicle is towing a load, but is traveling at a speed that does not warrant activation of the vehicle's hazard lights, the hazard lights may be automatically deactivated.

  • Patent number: 10372951
Abstract: A read tunnel device is disclosed for scanning a plurality of cartons of high density packaged items moving through an enclosure via a conveyor belt. The read tunnel device is positioned over a section of the conveyor belt, such that the plurality of cartons on the conveyor belt pass directly through the read tunnel device. Further, the cartons are induced to tumble as they transit through the read tunnel device in one or more dimensions, the tumbling changes arrangement of the items within the cartons and also changes read direction with respect to the antenna in the enclosure. For example, the read tunnel device can comprise a tube angled down from the conveyor belt so a carton will transit down the tube using the force of gravity. Or, a mechanical structure such as mechanical flippers can pick up the carton and rotate it in controlled increments.

Abstract: In a system for determining in-seat behavior of a user, a sensor mat is placed on a location of the seat. The sensor mat includes a plurality of sensors that are distributed anthropometrically so as to be placed below predetermined anatomical sites of a typical user. At least one training episode in which the user assumes at least one predetermined posture for a predetermined amount of time is executed. Training data from each of the plurality of sensors is recorded and sensor parameters are adjusted based on the training data. After the training episode, use data is sensed from the plurality of sensors during normal use of the seat by the user. The in-seat behavior of the user is characterized based on the use data which results in the generation of characterization data. • Patent number: 10360350
Abstract: An inventory system for wirelessly taking inventories of mobile medical dispensing carts comprises an easily assemblable and disassemblable enclosure comprising interconnected electrically conductive walls to form a Faraday cage. The interior space defined by the walls is large enough to accept the mobile carts. RFID readers are placed within the enclosure directed at the mobile cart to excite and read the RFID tags disposed on the medical articles within the cart. The walls of the enclosure are flexible and one of the walls is rolled up and down to act as a door to the interior space. A host computer stores the inventory of the cart and compares it against a previous inventory existence for resupply purposes. The host computer also detects expired and recalled medical articles in the cart. If a recalled article is detected, the host computer determines if a substitute article exists.
