Abstract: An oil-in-water emulsion with oil globules with a mean size of no greater than 150 nm, comprising an amphiphilic lipid phase comprising at least one nonionic amphiphilic lipid which is liquid at an ambient temperature of less than 45.degree. C., at least one oil and at least one aminated silicone, as well as to its uses in the cosmetic or dermopharmaceutical field.

Abstract: A hair care composition comprising: (a) from about 0.01 to about 3% by weight of gelling agent comprising a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride, cross-linked with C.sub.4 -C.sub.16 alkadiene of hydrolysis products thereof; (b) from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of hair fixative copolymer comprising a cationic copolymer of nonionic cellulose and diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride; and the balance comprising a carrier suitable for application to hair. The liquid hair cosmetic products have an improved non-tacky on-hair and on-hand feel, demonstrate excellent hair styling benefits in addition to ease of brush-out.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition for use in the treatment of hair. The cosmetic composition contains a conditioning agent and the improvement resides in the conditioning agent being a mixture of (i) a silicone polyether and (ii) an amine functional siloxane polymer. The amine functional siloxane polymer has the formula:R.sub.3-z 'Q.sub.z SiO?R.sub.2 'SiO!.sub.x ?R'QSiO!.sub.y SiQ.sub.z R.sub.3-z '.A method of treating hair is also described in which the mixture is applied to hair for the purpose of improving wet and dry combing and imparting durable conditioning benefits to the hair.

Abstract: A mild liquid skin cleanser composition with improved lathering and rinsing characteristics, comprising: an alkyl ethoxylated sulfate anionic surfactant having an average degree of ethoxylation of at least about 2.0; an amphoteric surfactant selected from the group consisting of betaine surfactants, imidazoline surfactants, aminoalkanoate surfactants, and iminodialkanoate surfactants, and mixtures thereof; an N-acylamino acid surfactant, or salt thereof; a cationic cellulose ether derivative; from 0.2 parts to 2.0 parts by weight of a C8 to C20 fatty alcohol; and from 0.1 parts to 5 parts by weight of a water insoluble salt of C14-C22 fatty acid.

Abstract: An aqueous suspension of solid lipoid nanoparticles, comprising at least one lipid and preferably also at least one emulsifier, for topical application to the body, is provided. The solid lipoid nanoparticles have a mean particle size of between 50-1000 nm and their concentration is between 0.01-60 wt %, by weight of the suspension. Also topical preparations, comprising said suspension of solid lipoid nanoparticles, are provided. A medicament can be incorporated into the continuous phase of the suspension or in a vehicle, which is added to said suspension.

Abstract: A permanent waving composition showing excellent waving properties and, at the same time, a hair conditioning effect containsa) at least one reducing organic thio compound and (or) an inorganic sulfite; andb) at least one organopolysiloxane, whereby at least one silicium atom is linked to an alkylene group containing a hetero atom, particularly a nitrogen atom, together with a poly-(N-acyl alkylene imine) with units of the formula ##STR1## wherein n is a number from 1 to 5 and R is hydrogen, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl group.

Abstract: A treatment mechanism for keratin, including hair and epidermis, in which a chemical is applied in a substantially dry state. The chemical is adapted to release sulfur from said keratin, thereby softening it. The keratin is then rinsed with water, preparing the keratin to be exfoliated from the skin or, in the case of hair, cut or shaved. The preferred chemical is a salt of fluoric acid being either tin or sodium based.

Abstract: Cosmetic compositions containing in an aqueous medium an alkylgalactoside uronate and a cationic polymer and their use in the treatment or washing of keratinous materials. Abstract: A rinse-off skin conditioning composition employs a hydrocarbon oil, a di-block or tri-block copolymer as a viscosity improver, optionally a fatty acid ester as an emollient, and a surfactant soluble in the mixture of the hydrocarbon oil, a copolymer and fatty acid ester, and capable of dispersing said composition in water. The composition may be applied when showering and then rinsed away, leaving a residue of approximately 3-25 percent by weight of the total applied after rinsing. The residue has a skin-conditioning effect.

Abstract: A hair cosmetic composition comprising, as components of this hair cosmetic composition, (A) a mono-long chain alkyl quaternary ammonium salt, (B) a higher alcohol having a straight alkyl group having 14 to 22 carbon atoms and (C) a high molecular weight silicone which is gelled at normal temperature, the molar ratio of (B) relative to (A) being within the range of from 3 to 15, and containing the respective components (A), (B) and (C) at specific ratios in the above cosmetic composition.

Abstract: A composition and method thereof treating or conditioning human skin, hair or nails is described. The composition is topically applied in an effective amount and contains from about 0.0001 to about 50 wt. % of a ceramide derivative containing sphingoid bases having amide, but not ester linkages to a 2 (alpha)-hydroxy carboxylic acid and a safe and effective amount of a pharmaceutical or cosmetically acceptable carrier. The composition effectively treats or conditions areas of fine flakes having histogram values of 10 to 128. Treated areas exhibit a desquamation value difference of 1.0 or greater at day 28 after treatment commences compared to a desquamation value of untreated areas.

The composition contains an emulsifier capable of forming liquid crystals in water which comprises a fatty acid ester blend of sorbitan fatty acid ester and sucrose fatty acid ester. The ratio of primary oil phase to fatty acid ester blend is in the range of about 6:1 to about 1:1.

Abstract: The present invention relates to flavanonol derivatives represented by formula (1): ##STR1## (wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group, and each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent, an alkoxyl group which may have a substituent, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, or a halogen atom), as well as to hair-nourishing and hair-growing compositions containing the derivatives. The compounds accelerate differentiation and proliferation of hair matrix cells, thereby exhibiting remarkable hair-nourishing and hair-growing effects.
