Abstract: Process for moulding a make-up composition in a mould comprising a concave moulding surface forming the base of the mould and a bottom forming the upper component of the mould and closing off the space bounded by the said moulding surface, the composition being cast in the said mould in fluid form and subsequently solidifying to form a demouldable solid product capable of being packaged, in which the said composition is cast in a mould (1) whose bottom consists at least partly of a sheet (2) of open-cell plastic foam, so as partly to impregnate the said foam sheet (2) with the said composition and in which, after solidifying of the said composition, a moulded product consisting of the solidified composition and of the foam sheet which is bonded to it and which forms its support, is demoulded by removing the moulding surface (1).

Abstract: A process for permanent waving of hair by a reaction in which cystine bridges are reduced to cysteine, the hair reshaped, and the reaction reversed. The improvement in the process resides in the step of reducing or reversing the reaction by applying to hair a composition which includes an emulsion polymerized mercapto functional silicone. Permanent hair waving with waving lotions, neutralizing solutions, or both, containing such emulsion polymerized mercapto functional silicones, provide waved hair with improved conditioning benefits.

Abstract: The invention relates to novel essentially anhydrous oily bath and shower compositions containing a combination of fatty oil and/or fatty or waxy apolar substance, oil-soluble surfactant, and vesicle-forming lipid and, if desired, a cosmetically- or balneologically-active ingredient. When poured into or simply admixed with water, these formulations immediately and automatically, generate dispersed vesicles or liposomes. They exhibit an immediate as well as a prolonged or depot effect, can be used alone or added to or together with existing bath or shower formulations, and are especially suited for use in connection with or as additives to full, partial, or shower baths.

Abstract: The cosmetic product comprises soluble glass particles and liquid cosmetic base containing water. The soluble glass contains antibacterial metal ions selected from the group consisting of Ag.sup.+, Cu.sup.+, Cu.sup.2+ and Zn.sup.2+. The antibacterial ions contained are forming a solid solution with the components of soluble glass and elute along with the dissolution of the soluble glass skeletal network. The eluting rate of metallic ions is determined by the dissolving rate of the soluble glass and is not affected by the environmental concentration of alkaline metal ions, such as Na.sup.+.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of forming an oil-in-water emulsion containing water-insoluble components, a water-soluble humectant, a weakly acidic component such as an alpha-hydroxy acid and a quaternary ammonium cationic emulsifier. The emulsion is used as a stable skin care cream.
Abstract: A single phase hair conditioning composition having improved hair conditioning properties is described which contains, by weight, about 0.8% to 1.4% of a water-soluble nonionic cellulose polymer thickener, about 0.5% to 2.0% of a dipolar solvent such as propylene glycol, about 0.2% to 3.0% of a mono-C12-C22 alkyl, monomethyl ethoxy substituted quaternary ammonium salt conditioning agent, about 0.2% to 2.5% of a C10-C18 alkyl ethoxy methyl carboxylic acid conditioning agent having 1 to 23 ethoxy groups in the molecule and an aqueous medium, said composition being free of water-insoluble alkanol conditioners and of conditioning amounts of silicone conditioners. The mixture of ethoxy substituted quaternary ammonium salt conditioner and ethoxy methyl carboxylic acid conditioner provides enhanced hair conditioning results.
Abstract: A oil-in-water emulsion for treating the skin comprising from about 2 to about 10 weight percent of a cationic emulsifier such as dimethyl distearyl ammonium halide, a substantially nonionizable humectant such as glycerine and a weakly acidic material having a disassociation constant of about 1 to 6. The amount of weakly acidic material is such that the pH of the finished emulsion is about 2.5 to 4.5. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the emulsion.
Abstract: A composition for conditioning the skin which includes a silicone gum, a volatile methylsilicone fluid, and a volatile alkylmethylsiloxane. When applied to the human skin, the composition adsorbs approximately twenty percent faster, has a less greasy feel during application, and provides a coating on the skin which is smoother, than comparative products.

Abstract: Cosmetic compositions containing in an aqueous medium an alkylgalactoside uronate and a non-ionic alkylpolyglycoside and/or polyglycerol type surface-active agents and their use in the treatment or washing of keratinous materials. The alkylgalactoside uronate is based on formula (I): ##STR1## R.sub.1 is a C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 alkyl; R is ##STR2## with the carbon carrying the hydroxyl groups being linked to the endocyclic oxygen atom;R.sub.2 is hydrogen, an alkaline metal, an alkaline-earth metal or a quaternary ammonium group.

Abstract: Cosmetic composition for topical or hair application. This composition contains, in a suitable cosmetic vehicle, a pseudo-latex consisting of particles of a film-forming radical polymer containing carboxylic acid functions, neutralized to a degree of neutralization between 10 and 80% using a polyfunctional neutralizing agent consisting either of a diamine or of the combination of a polyvalent metal salt and an inorganic or organic base, the average diameter of the said particles being between 10 and 450 nm.The composition preferably takes the form of a shampoo, a conditioner, a styling or treating lotion or gel or a hair shaping product, or the form of a make-up product such as a mascara or a nail varnish.
Abstract: A two-pack type keratinous fiber treating composition where the first pack contains an organic solvent and an acid and the second pack contains a cationic polymer and/or an amphoteric polymer. When keratinous fibers are treated with the keratinous fiber treating composition, the cationic polymer and the amphoteric polymer contained in the second pack penetrate into the keratinous fibers which have been swollen by the first pack. Thus, conditioning effects (for example, softness, moistness, smoothness and ease of arrangement of the hair) are exerted on the keratinous fibers for a prolonged period of time.

Abstract: An organopolysiloxane which generates intramolecular or intermolecular cross-linking based on dipole-dipole interaction, hydrogen bonding or ion bonding, and which is not ruptured or plastically deformed at an extension ratio no more than 15% at a temperature of 20.degree. C. under relative humidity of 65%; and a method of setting hair using the same. Hair which is set by the method retains the given shape over time, and the organoplysiloxane imparts a soft touch to the hair. In addition, the shape given by the setting treatment can be easily restored to the original shape by ordinary shampooing.
