Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a radiation therapy treatment plan by using ultrasound images are disclosed. The method includes obtaining a first set of image data representing a first image of an anatomical region that includes a treatment applicator inserted into the anatomical region. The method further includes receiving tracking information indicating a position of the treatment applicator as represented in the first set of image data, obtaining a second set of image data representing a second image of the anatomical region, and combining at least a portion of the first set of image data with the second set of image data. One of the first set and the second set of image data is used to identify a target tissue portion in the anatomical region. The method further includes generating, based on the combined image data, treatment plan information for treating the target tissue portion in the anatomical region.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for converting clinical criteria constraints for a target structure of radiation therapy into a second set of constraints. The method includes selecting, by a hardware processor, a plurality of clusters of voxels in the target structure based on pre-specified criteria. The method further includes assigning, by the hardware processor, each of the plurality of clusters of voxels a respective constraint that specifies one or more bounds on a radiation dose applied to each voxel in a corresponding one of the plurality of clusters of voxels. The method also includes storing, in a memory device, the respective constraint for each of the plurality of clusters of voxels.

Abstract: Devices, system and methods for deforming body channels are disclosed herein. At least some embodiments described may be used to deform a body channel so as to decrease or prevent the normal intrachannel flow of material within the body channel. Such deformation may be used to treat such maladies as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.
Abstract: The present application is generally directed to an expandable sleeve component of an implantable penile prosthesis, to a prosthesis containing the sleeve, and to related methods of preparation and use. More specifically, the present application is directed to an implantable penile prosthesis having a cylindrical polymeric (e.g., extruded, molded, etc.) sleeve for controlling cylinder expansion upon placement of the prosthesis within a corpus cavemosum and expansion during use.

Abstract: Methods of preparing calcification-resistant bioprosthetic tissue include providing fresh biological tissue, cross-linking the tissue, treating the cross-linked tissue with an alcohol for a time sufficient to allow the alcohol to be diffused into the tissue, and treating the alcohol-treated fixed tissue with a polyol for a time sufficient to allow fluid in the tissue to be replaced by the polyol. The methods may include sterilizing the cross-linked tissue in a solution including propylene oxide or peracetic acid either before or after the alcohol treatment step; or drying the alcohol/polyol-treated, cross-linked tissue, sterilizing the dried tissue by exposure to ethylene oxide or peracetic acid, and storing the sterilized tissue in a dry, ambient environment. The treated tissue may be a tissue component for a bioprosthetic valve, a valve assembly for a bioprosthetic valve or a fully assembled bioprosthetic valve incorporating the tissue.

Abstract: An adjustable compression device (10) including an elongate rigid band (12) provided to extend around a portion of the circumference of a penis (16) is described. The band (12) includes first and second side portions (18, 20) connecting by an intermediate portion (22). An engagement member (14) is secured between the first and second side portions (18, 20) such that the engagement member (14) is rotatable about a rotational axis (24) extending between the side portions (18, 20). The engagement member (14) is off-centred relative to said rotational axis (24) such that an area defined between the engagement member (14) and the band (12) can be increased or decreased by rotation of the engagement member (14) thereby adjusting pressure applied to the penis (16).

Abstract: Children who experience anxiety associated with novel situations react physically and emotionally in ways that make it challenging for the child, parents, educators, and providers to proceed with the intended goal of that novel situation. Anxiety in children can be reduced by introducing fun or distracting stimuli that act on specific neural pathways. The stimuli introduced can familiarize a child with the environment in which the procedure will take place and the equipment and people which the child will meet. In the healthcare setting, by using consistent stimuli, and by disrupting anxiety at one or more of a series of stages in which anxiety typically occurs, a reduction in needed anesthesia can be achieved, which is healthier for the child and reduces the costs associated with the medical or dental procedure.
