  • Patent number: 10548676
Abstract: A surgical assembly includes a surgical instrument and a holder. The surgical instrument includes an elongate body and an end effector. The elongate body has a proximal portion and a distal portion that defines a longitudinal axis therealong. The proximal portion is movable relative to the distal portion between a first condition and a second condition. In the first condition, the proximal portion is parallel to the longitudinal axis. In the second condition, the proximal portion is non-parallel to the longitudinal axis. The holder is configured to be coupled to the elongate body to selectively retain the proximal portion of the elongate body in the first condition.

  • Patent number: 10542933
Abstract: An exercise test evaluation system includes an acceleration sensor that is worn by a user during an exercise test and acquires acceleration values of a foot of the user, a heart rate sensor that is worn by the user and measures a heart rate of the user, and a processor. The processor acquires a first maximum acceleration value and a second maximum acceleration value, calculates a reliability score using the first and second maximum acceleration values, acquires a walking velocity and a heart rate of the user and estimates a maximum oxygen intake amount using the user's walking velocity and heart rate if the reliability score is equal to or higher than a specific threshold value, and estimates the maximum oxygen intake amount using the user's walking velocity if the reliability score is lower than the specific threshold value.

  • Patent number: 10517760
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for aiding a surgeon to perform a surgical procedure on an eye. The surgical procedure includes inserting an elongate probe from an opening into the eye across an anterior chamber to a target tissue region comprising a trabecular meshwork and a Schlemm's canal. Exemplary systems include an optical microscope for the surgeon to view the eye with a microscope image during the procedure; an optical coherence tomography (OCT) apparatus configured to perform an OCT scan of a target location in the target tissue region during the procedure; and an image processing apparatus configured to generate an augmented image by overlaying an OCT image of target location and a graphical visual element identifying the locations, wherein the graphical visual element is registered with the microscope image to aid the surgeon in advancing a distal end of the elongate probe to the target location.

  • Patent number: 10507136
Abstract: An ophthalmic laser processing apparatus comprises: a laser device that outputs a pulsed laser beam towards an eye; an image capturing device that captures an image of the eye and provides image data; and a control device that detects eye movement based on the image data and controls the beam focus based on a predetermined eye processing pattern and the eye movement. The apparatus further comprises a visualization device controlled by the control device to output a visualization of a graphical illustration. The graphical illustration represents at least one of (a) a value of an eye parameter determined on the basis of the image data; (b) a frequency distribution of a value of an eye parameter determined on the basis of the image data; and (c) a range of values of a pupil diameter determined on the basis of the image data.

  • Patent number: 10470682
Abstract: A system for determining electrophysiological data comprising an electronic control unit configured to acquire electrophysiology signals from a plurality of electrodes (130) of one or more catheters, select at least one clique of electrodes from the plurality of electrodes (136) to determine a plurality of local E field data points, determine the location and orientation of the plurality of electrodes, process the electrophysiology signals from the at least one clique from a full set of bipole subcliques to derive the local E field data points associated with the at least one clique of electrodes, derive at least one orientation independent signal from the at least one clique of electrodes (138) from the information content corresponding to weighted parts of electrogram signals, and display or output catheter orientation independent electrophysiologic information to a user or process.

  • Patent number: 10456089
Abstract: A method, and corresponding system (300), for monitoring patients based on activity state and posture. Activity state and/or posture of a patient are measured. Further, one or more vital signs of the patient are measured according to a schedule. Based on the measured activity state and/or posture of the patient and the measured one or more vital signs, the schedule is adjusted and/or patient deterioration is monitored for.

  • Patent number: 10456087
Abstract: The following relates generally to the medical monitoring arts, medical warning systems concerning a monitored patient, and so forth. In clinical settings, alarms are usually triggered when a single-parameter or a multi-parameter score exceeds certain thresholds. When a score needs to be determined, if certain parameters are not available, the common practice is to use the most recent measurements of the parameters for the score calculation. However, a patient's status may change from moment to moment. The parameters measured hours ago may not be a good indicator of the patient's current status. This uncertainty can put deteriorating patients at great risk. An embodiment uses statistical methods to estimate a range of scores and the probability of these scores if old measurements have to be used for score determination. Instead of giving a single number at a time, a confidence interval may be displayed to emphasize the fact that the score is determined partially based on old measurements.
