  • Patent number: 7962106
Abstract: The present invention relates to a radio with a key and knob combination. To solve problems such as inconvenience caused by the independent PTT key and volume control knob on the traditional radios, the present invention provides a radio with a key and knob combination, comprising a PPT key unit and a volume control unit, wherein the key is installed inside a central cavity of the knob, which is a hollow knob, to form the key and knob combination. Rotation of the knob (106) may drive the shaft (102) and the toggle piece (111) to rotate synchronously, and then toggle the volume switch (112), while the pressed key (101) may cause the shaft (102) moving axially to toggle the PTT switch (103). When operating the radio with a single hand, users can both press the PTT key to initiate a call and rotate the knob to adjust the volume level by a thumb or a forefinger, and the operation is very convenient.

  • Patent number: 7957712
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and apparatus for processing an input information signal having varying amplitude and phase to obtain an amplified output signal having the same amplitude and phase variation. In an exemplary method, an input information signal is decomposed into two pairs of constant-envelope component signals such that the vector sum of the first pair is orthogonal to the vector sum of the second pair, for desired signal amplitudes below a level corresponding to a pre-determined threshold. For desired signal amplitudes above this level, the input information signal is instead decomposed into two pairs of constant-envelope component signals such that the vector sum of the first pair is separated by less than ninety degrees from the vector sum of the second pair. The constant-envelope component signals may be amplified by highly-efficient non-linear amplifier elements and combined to obtain the amplified output signal.

  • Patent number: 7929923
Abstract: A novel out-phasing-array transmitter system and method are disclosed. The method is based on decomposing the input signal into an array of signals to drive a general, multiple paths out-phasing-array transmitter. This decomposition is less sensitive to the phase difference between the multiple paths, and extends the dynamic range of the out-phasing-array transmitter system. The wide dynamic range and the multiple transmission paths increase the maximum achievable output power, in accordance with the WiMAX specifications.

  • Patent number: 7929938
Abstract: Second-order intermodulation distortion can be suppressed in a direct conversion radio receiver having a downconversion mixer by calibrating resistors and a current source in the mixer. A test signal is applied to the signal inputs of the mixer transconductor. The resistances of first and second variable resistor circuits connected to the switching quad are then varied while also varying a variable current source. Each time the resistances and current are set to new values, the resulting mixer output signal is measured. When the measured output signal is determined to be at a minimum, the variable resistors and current source are left at the corresponding values to which they have been set. Adjusted in this manner, the current source counteracts the DC offset voltage at the mixer output.

  • Patent number: 7929939
Abstract: An RFIC includes first and second RF sections, first and second PHY processing modules, first and second upper layer processing modules, and memory. When the RFIC is in a first receive mode, the first RF section, the first PHY processing module, and the first upper layers processing module convert a first inbound RF signal into a first inbound audio signal in accordance with a first wireless communication protocol. When the RFIC is in a second receive mode, the second RF section, the second PHY processing module, and the second upper layers processing module convert a second inbound RF signal into a second inbound audio signal in accordance with a second wireless communication protocol. The memory stores the first and second inbound audio signals. The first PHY processing module retrieves, based on the receive mode, the first or second inbound audio signal from the memory and converts the first or second inbound audio signal into a first or second inbound analog audio signal.
