Abstract: Various processes are disclosed for discovering item relationships between particular items, such as products represented in an electronic catalog, based on monitored user behaviors (e.g., item viewing activities, item purchases, shopping cart activities, etc.). The discovered item relationships may, for example, be used to generate personalized item recommendations for users, and/or to supplement item detail pages of an electronic catalog with lists of related items. Also disclosed are processes for generating personalized item recommendations based on users' search activities and browse node visits.

Abstract: A method for electrically charging a high-voltage battery of a subject vehicle includes resolving a geographic location of the subject vehicle at a remote charging site, electrically charging the high-voltage battery through a connection of the subject vehicle to an electric power outlet at the remote charging site, monitoring cumulative electric power flow to the high-voltage battery of the subject vehicle, communicating the cumulative electric power flow to a central server, and reconciling billing for the cumulative electric power flow between an owner of the subject vehicle and an owner of the remote charging site.
Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for managing inventory are disclosed. For example, the method monitors a region of interest to determine an inventory level based upon a depth image captured by a depth sensing device, calculates a change in a depth in the region of interest from the depth image that is captured and determines a change in the inventory level associated with the change in the depth of the region of interest.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for auditing a transaction record are provided. The transaction record may correspond to a credit card transaction. The auditing may include identifying a surcharge violation. The surcharge violation may be an unlawful surcharge. The auditing may identify patterns of double surcharging. Transaction-level auditing may include ensuring that a surcharge is returned upon a product return. A mobile wallet application may allow consumers to access and/or report merchant surcharge compliance activity. Functionality may include surcharge receipt scanning for use in crosschecking authenticity of a consumer report. Additional crosscheck functionality provided by geographic location support. Embodiments may include a registry for merchants that certify their surcharge calculations.

Abstract: The present invention includes a system for marking labware. The system includes an instruction set with markings to be applied to pieces of labware and the order in which the markings are to be applied to the labware. The system also includes a marking device that receives the instruction set and then places the non-toxic marks on the pieces of labware. The invention also includes methods tracking chain of custody of biological material in a facility. The methods include assigning a unique marking for biological materials, storing that marking in a database, applying a non-toxic marking to a piece(s) of labware and then scanning the marking.
Abstract: A system includes a receiving module to receive a purchase inquiry for a cloud computing service from a consumer in a first currency. A pricing module is used to price-out the cloud computing service from a provider where the cloud computing service is provided in a second currency. A reconciliation module reconciles the purchase of the cloud computing service in the consumer's geographical location and currency with the provider's location and currency.
Abstract: A method for transaction authorization with the use of a mobile phone, comprising the steps of receiving (102, 202) from the user (UR), by the communication server (CS) a voice call establishment request, to establish a voice connection to a telephone number which identifies a transaction; authorize the transaction by verifying (112, 206) the credentials of the user (UR); accepting (106, 214) or rejecting (108, 216) the voice call; sending a request (116, 220) to the user (UR) to enter necessary transaction parameters; entering (118, 222) the requested transaction parameters; verifying (120, 224), by the authorization system (AS), the validity of the entered parameter; determining (122, 226) whether the user (UR) has entered all necessary transaction parameters, including user's authorization to fund the transaction and, preferably, a password authorizing the transaction; accepting the transaction funding by the transaction party responsible for it (124, 228), and, if the amount has been accepted, sending a m
Abstract: A point-of-sale terminal differentiates dynamically among different data streams by processing data encoded with “sentinels” that bracket the beginning and end of the data and identify the type of data.
Abstract: A method, system, device, and computer readable medium for a displaying a predicted route of a user. It can be determined whether a predicted route is within a displayed range of the map. If the predicted route is not within the displayed range of the map, the displayed range of the map can be automatically changed such that the predicted route is within the displayed range of the map.
Abstract: A system for processing transactions, having at least one mobile device having a housing having a processor, and a Wi-Fi Communication module disposed therein; a base station having a base station housing, wherein the base station housing houses an embedded system including a processor; and a Wi-Fi communication module configured to communicate with the Wi-Fi communication module of the at least one mobile device; a support stand configured to support the at least one mobile device, wherein the support stand comprises at least one arm having an adjustable position and configured to move to adjust the size of the support stand based on a size of the at least one mobile device; and at least one peripheral device connected to the base station.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to an NFC-enabled security token that is removably coupled to a mobile device. The security token may be provisioned with the information by the mobile device, then decoupled from the mobile device and used to authenticate the user or perform a transaction at a POS terminal equipped with an NFC reader. The security token includes logic for user-controlled restrictions on allowable purchases, such as payment limits, timeouts, vendor identifiers, allowed purchases, and location-based restrictions. The security token is further equipped with “self destruct” security features, such as deactivating itself or erasing any sensitive information upon being unable to contact the mobile device for a specified duration, or being subject to an unauthorized or restricted transaction, until such time as it is re-coupled to the mobile device.

Abstract: A mobile device equipped with at least a display and an input is used to connect to a server on the mobile network. Upon authentication of a user of the mobile device, the server generates the payment key, encodes the key in an image, such as a bar code, and transmits the image to the mobile device. The user holds the display of the mobile device up to an optical scanner at a POS terminal. Logic on the POS terminal extracts the payment key from the image, and uses the payment key to bill the user. The POS terminal transmits the bill with the payment key to the server on the network. The server ensures that the key is active, and debits an account for the user based on the amount presented in the bill. The key is de-activated after a specified time period or one use, whichever occurs first.
