  • Patent number: 9144783
Abstract: A low pressure drop structured packing sheet with diversion windows, which are formed on both crests and troughs. When in the expanded state where the diversion window and packing sheet are flat on the same plane, the diversion window has an opening and a fan-shaped portion, with the area of the opening being 0%-1000% of that of the fan-shaped portion. Two side intersection lines between the fan-shaped portion and packing sheet is symmetrical with respect to a central folding line which divides the fan-shaped portion into a left part and a right part. The two side intersection lines intercept to each other with an angel of about 10°-170°. When in the operating state where the diversion window and packing sheet are partially folded towards opposite directions, the fluid at the trough flows to a crest of the other side of the packing sheet with the help of diversion windows, thus increasing the area of vapor-liquid mass transfer.

  • Patent number: 8136797
Abstract: A cooling tower includes an evaporator vessel, a gas delivery tube partially disposed within the evaporator vessel to deliver a gas into the evaporator vessel and a water inlet that provides water to the evaporator vessel at a rate sufficient to maintain a controlled constant level of water within the evaporator vessel. A weir is disposed within the evaporator vessel adjacent the gas delivery tube to form a first fluid circulation path between a first weir end and a wall of the evaporator vessel and a second fluid circulation path between a second weir end and an upper end of the evaporator vessel. During operation, gas introduced through the tube mixes with the water and the combined gas and fluid flow at a high rate with a high degree of turbulence along the first and second circulation paths defined around the weir, thereby promoting vigorous mixing and intimate contact between the gas and the water.

  • Patent number: 8006961
Abstract: In an improvement of the apparatus and method disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 7,354,029 B1, a Process Fluid Treating Apparatus includes an ejector assembly fluidically connected to a process fluid supply assembly. A Coanda airfoil is located in the ejector assembly. Primary fluid is injected into the ejector duct and forms a Coanda layer, flowing adjacent to the walls of a Coanda Airfoil. A process fluid, or part of it, flows toward the ejector assembly through the Process Fluid Supply Assembly, which forces the process fluid to flow through a plurality of fluid ports to separate that process fluid into a plurality of separate streams and turns those separate streams of process fluid through its perforated tip towards the Coanda layer whereby the contact between the process fluid and the Coanda layer is controlled.
