  • Patent number: 6572172
Abstract: A longitudinal support base 30 is provided with a rotating support base 10 that can be slide in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. A seat body is placed on the rotating support base 10 via a rotary disc 13 so as to rotate. The longitudinal support base 30 is provided with an intermediate gear 22 that is engaged with a rack 21 extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle seat. The seat body 2 side is provided with a pinion gear 24 that is engaged with the intermediate gear 11. The rotary disc 13 is rotated by means of a driving force of an electric motor 41. Thus, when the electric motor 41 is rotated, the seat body 2 rotates and slides in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 6568743
Abstract: A motor vehicle occupant protection system features an upper panel of an armrest is maintained in an arm supporting position during normal vehicle operation, and is moved to a safety position by an actuation device upon sensing of an actual or impending impact on the side of the vehicle. In the arm supporting position, the arm support panel contributes to the structural strength of the armrest so that it is able to withstand rugged use. In the safety position, the arm support panel is positioned so that it does not present a rigid edge oriented directly toward the occupant, but rather is in a partially or completely folded position. Both mechanical and electronic actuation systems are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6561569
Abstract: A passenger van is equipped with a drive mechanism for power operation of a slideable side door. The drive mechanism has a flexible drive cable that travels in a closed loop that includes cable portions that travel through a center track in opposite directions. The center track supports and guides a roller assembly that is attached to the rear of the side door. The roller assembly carries a cinch mechanism that selectively connects the roller assembly to a portion of the cable that is traveling in one direction to open the sliding door and that selectively connects the roller assembly to a portion of the cable that is traveling in the opposite direction to close the sliding door. The cinch mechanism is normally disconnected from the cable so that the side door can be opened or closed manually very easily.

  • Patent number: 6558092
Abstract: A manually operated winch system secures cargo to a transport vehicle. The winch system has a shaft rotationally mounted relative a frame. A ratchet drive mechanism controls rotation of the shaft. A handle received in the drive mechanism can be used both to control rotation of the shaft and to control operation of a pawl. The drive mechanism is configured such that tilting the handle moves a member axially. Sufficient axial movement of the member causes the pawl to disengage mating ratchet teeth and thereby allows the shaft to rotate freely. In some embodiments, an adjustment mechanism limits the extent to which the member can move axially.

  • Patent number: 6543834
Abstract: A flip top locking topper for a pickup truck having a forward wall and a shell. A hinge support is rigidly attached to a forward end of the pickup box along with the forward wall. The shell, attached to the hinge support by one or more hinges, pivots to open and closed positions. A lift mechanism, such as a hydraulic cylinder, linear actuator, or mechanical screw operates to open and close the shell. One end of the lift mechanism can be attached to a lower position on the hinge support. The other end is attached to an inside top surface of the shell. One or more lock blocks are positioned on a lower edge of the sidewalls of the shell. As the shell is lowered, the lock blocks engage and enter stake bed opening on the truck bed sidewalls. From the closed position, the lift mechanism first lifts a forward edge from the forward wall, the pushed the shell rearward to disengage or unlock the lock blocks, and then the shell is pivoted upwards.

  • Patent number: 6536145
Abstract: A display device is provided which is formed by first and second outer panels and a third, inner panel disposed between the outer panels. The outer panels are joined together separately from the inner panel in a first portion of the device and each of the outer panels includes a slit in this first portion and fold lines therein for enabling the joined outer panels to be pulled apart and separated along the slit to expose the inner panel for display. All of the panels are joined together at a further, base portion of the device. The fold lines in outer panels provide folding of parts of the outer panels forming the base portion of the device into a support arrangement for the device. In a first state of the device, the inner panel is shielded from view by the outer panels and the inner and outer panels form a unit of a substantially flat, planar configuration, and, in a second state of the device, the inner panel is exposed for display and is supported by the support arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6520553
Abstract: An insertion portion is provided substantially at the center portion of a rear bumper, and guiding portions are provided at corners of the front end of the insertion portion. A bumper guide is provided substantially at the center portion in the lateral direction of a rear panel of an automobile body. The bumper guide has a lateral guiding portion and a vertical guiding portion, so that the insertion portion of the rear bumper can be positioned in the bumper guide. Flange portions provided on the bumper guide engage lateral walls of the insertion portion so that the rear bumper can be attached to an automobile body with accuracy and stability. The insertion portion of the rear bumper may be placed on the upper surface of the bumper guide, so that the rear bumper can be temporarily held and is prevented from hanging down after it is fixed to the automobile body. Cutouts are provided on the insertion portion, so that clearance is provided to absorb deformation of the rear bumper caused by impact.

  • Patent number: 6513855
Abstract: A universal sun glare shield which attaches to the rearview mirror mounting post of most automobiles to block the unwanted sun light above and around the rearview mirror when driving into low sun. The glare shield consists of two planer panels with bosses on their bottom edge held in place by a key-hole shaped keeper to provide a friction-fit to the mirror mounting post. To configure the shield to a specific vehicle, each panel has a plurality of alignment holes which lead to punch-out sections which when removed create a channel in the panels which allow the panels to be securely fastened to the mirror mounting post in a friction fit. The panels also have plurality of break-out sections on their left and right edges and their tops which allows a custom fit to the spacing between the vehicle's sun visors and its head-liner.
