  • Patent number: 7940675
Abstract: In a 802.15.4 network, each reduced functionality device (RFD) is permitted to communicate with only an assigned full function device (FFD). The present invention allows each of the RFDs to communicate with another RFD upon the RFD determining that the local FFD assigned to the RFD is inoperable or unable to communicate. Under emergency conditions, the RFD is able to communicate with a closely located RFDs such that the closely located RFDs can receive and respond to an emergency situation and/or repeat the message. To satisfy the 802.15.4 standards, communication between the RFDs is allowed only during emergency conditions and when the FFD is inoperative. A comprehensive test procedure is included to insure the integrity of the system is preserved at all times.

  • Patent number: 7940728
Abstract: A wireless communication method capable of preventing reduction of the throughput. According to this wireless communication method, in a frame (2), a relay station (1) decides that the amount of delay to be ?t2 because the modulation scheme of a relayed signal is 16 QAM, while another relay station (2) decides that the delay amount be ?t4 because the modulation scheme of a relayed signal is QPSK. The relay station (1) transmits, at ?t2 of the frame (2), the relayed signal, the modulation scheme of which is 16 QAM, to abase station. On the other hand, the relay station (2) detects, by ?t4, the fact that the relay station (1) transmitted the relayed signal at ?t2, and estimates, from the detected fact, that the modulation scheme used by the relay station (1) was 16 QAM.

  • Patent number: 7936776
Abstract: This invention discloses a method for smooth capacity expansion of data communication product, and a smooth capacity expandable system of data communication. Architecture of the system at least comprises circuit card and switched network card; and further comprises interface card of switched network, interface transfer card and connection optical fiber. Based on these, it provides one kind of multiple frameworks structure with interconnection between frameworks. When the capacity is expanded, the original circuit cards and switched network cards keep unchanged, only smoothly increases the switched network cards and numbers of circuit card frameworks. Therefore, it implements smooth capacity expansion and client investment protection at the same time. With adding backup cards, it also implements capacity expansion without interrupting the service.

  • Patent number: 7936755
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for ingress processing optimization via traffic classification and grouping. A plurality of packets are classified according to a classification criterion. The classified packets are used to generate a packet bundle containing packets that are uniform with respect to the classification criterion. The packet bundle and its corresponding packet bundle descriptor are transferred to a host which then processes the packet bundle as a whole according to the information contained in the packet bundle descriptor.

  • Patent number: 7933215
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to provide orthogonal multiple access communication in a return link of a satellite communication system. In one embodiment, a closed loop control of a transmit parameter associated with transmission of signals may be performed. In addition, changes in motion of a terminal are monitored such that an open loop control of the transmit parameter is performed, if the detected change meets a certain threshold. For example, an open control is performed if an abrupt or sudden motion is detected.

  • Patent number: 7933229
Abstract: A radio access network has a reverse link frequency band for receiving signals from mobile stations and has first and second forward link frequency bands for transmitting signals to mobile stations. The second forward link frequency band has a greater frequency bandwidth than the first forward link frequency band and occupies a different part of the radio frequency spectrum. For certain types of communication sessions, such as voice and low-speed data, the reverse link frequency band and the first forward link frequency band are used. For other types of communication sessions, such as high-speed data and streaming video, the reverse link frequency band and the second forward link frequency band are used.

  • Patent number: 7933294
Abstract: Systems and methods for communication of scaleable-coded audiovisual signals over multiple TCP/IP connections are provided. The sender schedules and prioritizes transmission of individual scalable-coded data packets over the plurality of TCP connections according to their relative importance in the scalable coding structure for signal reconstruction quality and according to receiver feedback. Low-latency packet delivery over the multiple TCP/IP connections is maintained by avoiding transmission or retransmission of packets that are less important for reconstructed media quality.

  • Patent number: 7929422
Abstract: A method is disclosed for providing fault tolerance of an application over a Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) connection. A method for moving a transport connection from a first host to a second host on a network is also described. After establishing a transport connection between the first host and a peer host, first information about the transport connection is transferred to the second host. Upon the first host becoming unavailable, the second host sends to the peer host a request to update the state of the transport connection. The peer host then updates the transport connection. Without resetting the transport connection, the second host then establishes the same transport connection with the peer host.

  • Patent number: 7929534
Abstract: A plurality of flow collector devices is disposed to collect flow information on a network. Duplicate flow records received from the flow collectors are eliminated by determining whether a pair of flow records has the same, source and destination flow identifiers and were received within a predefined time-period. Non-duplicated flow records received from the plurality of flow collector devices are stored and used to produces a connection table that maps each node on the network to a record that stores information about traffic to or from the node from non-duplicated flow records. The connection table stores statistical information of packets on the network based on a time-slice basis.

  • Patent number: 7929434
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining limits for the access control of traffic that is to be transmitted via a communication network. The limits are fixed in such a way that no overload situation can occur in the network; the probability of rejection of traffic flows is, wherever possible, is independent from the point of entry into said network; and resources are used as efficiently as possible. On the basis of limits wherein no overload situation occurs, the limits for the traffic control are raised in such a way that the blocking probability for traffic transmitted between pairs of marginal modes is lowered at the same time. The lowereing of said blocking probability is maintained if an overload situation were to occur in the network.

  • Patent number: 7929462
Abstract: A method and server are disclosed for providing floor control in a full-duplex communication session. When no participant currently holds the floor, a server grants the floor in response to receipt of a media stream from a participant, by outputting the participant's media more loudly than one or more other participants' media, while concurrently outputting media from multiple participants. Further, the server may grant levels of the floor with varying levels of loudness, perhaps based on an order in which the server receives media streams as implicit floor requests from the various participants.
