  • Patent number: 7869415
Abstract: A method of mapping symbols of a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH) is described. A start position of a resource element to map the symbols for the PCFICH is determined by flooring a value, obtained by multiplying the number of resource blocks by a variable proportional to a symbol index for the PCFICH and then dividing the multiplied result by 2, wherein the resource blocks are transmitted in downlink. The symbols are mapped in the start position. Therefore, a problem of wasting resource elements or not being able to implement mapping can be solved by applying a simple mapping rule while mapping symbols of the PCFICH.

  • Patent number: 7869460
Abstract: A cable modem termination system receives a bandwidth request message, and collects information on the basis of the bandwidth request message. Then, time bandwidth size information is generated on the basis of the bandwidth request message and the collected information, and a bandwidth allocation message is generated on the basis of the collected information and the time bandwidth size information. Accordingly, a cable modem termination system can effectively receive data transmitted from a cable modem.

  • Patent number: 7864804
Abstract: An apparatus and method for Connection Admission Control (CAC) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. In the method, a QoS class of a call requesting connection admission is detected and an application layer required bandwidth is determined using the QoS parameters of a service flow of the detected QoS class. A required bandwidth weight of the QoS class is determined in consideration of a packet header overhead. Per-slot available bandwidths of a reference QoS class and the QoS class are determined using the determined application layer required bandwidth, and a required bandwidth conversion ratio of a corresponding QoS class is determined using the determined per-slot available bandwidths. An equivalent MAC layer required bandwidth is determined using the determined application layer required bandwidth, the required bandwidth weight, and the required bandwidth conversion ratio.

  • Patent number: 7864689
Abstract: Providing and configuring communication links may include determining a usable media pair from all existing media pairs and selecting any one channel from all existing channels. The selected channel may be assigned to any one of the media pairs. Any one or any combination of media pairs may be monitored in order to detect the existence of a communication signal on any of the media pairs. Some or all of the existing media pairs may be monitored to determine which of the media pair may be capable of facilitating communication at a maximum communication speed and if not, at a reduced speed. Any selected channel may be cross-connected to any one of the existing media pairs, which may be capable of facilitating communication at the maximum or reduced communication speed.

  • Patent number: 7864677
Abstract: A frame input/output unit allows a frame to pass according to directions output by a flag judging unit while consuming resources. A resource managing unit manages amounts of resources supplied and consumed. A management information storage unit stores passing information indicating policers that have passed frames during each period and management information including flag information on skip flags and the like. A flag updating unit catalogs a resource surplus flag and a supply filled flag at the end of a previous period and a skip flag that indicates whether a self-policer skips consuming resources in the following period based on the passing information in the previous period and the current period. The flag judging unit refers to a latest skip flag and judges the presence or absence of frame passing in the following period.

  • Patent number: 7860127
Abstract: A signal processing apparatus capable of minimizing the required processing so that a data packet containing a described discontinuity information table can be inserted preferably in a transport stream (partial stream). In this apparatus, a stream layer model storage has a model of the table to be stored in a DIT (Discontinuity Information Table) packet indicating a discontinuity point of a stream layer. A DIT packet insertion controller refers to the information set in an insertion timing setting register and, upon arrival of the timing to insert the DIT packet, the information preset in a description contents setting register is inserted into the model to thereby generate the DIT packet, and then the generated packet is inserted at the discontinuity point of the transport stream (partial stream).

  • Patent number: 7855973
Abstract: A data link, e.g., an audio and/or video data link, is established from a data source, such as an audio and/or video encoder, to a data recipient via an adjustable synchronous radio channel, such as an extended Synchronous Connection-Oriented (eSCO) channel between first and second Bluetoothâ„¢ devices. A quality of the data link is determined. A transmission interval and a retransmission criterion of the adjustable synchronous radio channel and an error correction coding of the data link are adjusted responsive to the determined quality of the data link to, for example, maintain a fixed information transfer rate over the data link. The transmission interval and retransmission criterion of the adjustable synchronous radio channel and an error correction coding of the data link may be adjusted by communicating channel parameters between the first and second devices over the radio channel to adjust the transmission interval and the retransmission criterion of the adjustable synchronous radio channel.

  • Patent number: 7852771
Abstract: Link-based source routing may be implemented using generic framing protocol (GFP) to enable GFP frames to contain a switching context that will allow them to be forwarded on a network without requiring state information to be distributed to interior network elements on the network. Source routes may be computed from network topography information obtained using OSPF or ISIS. An extension header type is added to the GFP frames to signal to the network elements that the GFP frame contains a link-based source route. The source route contains a vector of tunnel IDs and a pointer to the current hop, to enable the current tunnel ID to be determined. The tunnel IDs have local significance only, and hence state information is not required to be distributed on the network. A return route may be built by index substitution as the frame traverses the network.

  • Patent number: 7848240
Abstract: A method is disclosed of forwarding data in a data communications network comprising a plurality of nodes and links therebetween, each link having an associated usage cost and a load capacity. A forwarding node identifies a lowest cost route, comprising one or more links, to a destination node. If a plurality of lowest cost routes is identified, then the forwarding node allocates data for forwarding along each of the lowest cost routes dependent on a relative load capacity of that route.

  • Patent number: 7848310
Abstract: A routing protocol, such as the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), is extended in a manner that allows the protocol to opaquely carry routing attributes associated with an origin of a routing advertisement, e.g., a customer network of associated with a virtual private network (VPN). These attributes are carried within routing communications using a separate attribute set, and are automatically utilized when delivering the routing advertisement to other customer networks associated with the VPN. As a result, the customer networks are isolated from the routing attributes used within an intermediate network coupling the customer networks.
