  • Patent number: 9678267
Abstract: An imaging directional backlight apparatus including a waveguide, a light source array, for providing large area directed illumination from localized light sources. The waveguide may include a stepped structure, in which the steps may further include extraction features optically hidden to guided light, propagating in a first forward direction. Returning light propagating in a second backward direction may be refracted, diffracted, or reflected by the features to provide discrete illumination beams exiting from the top surface of the waveguide. Viewing windows are formed through imaging individual light sources and hence defines the relative positions of system elements and ray paths. The uncorrected system creates non-illuminated void portions when viewed off-axis preventing uniform wide angle 2D illumination modes.

  • Patent number: 9570005
Abstract: Provided are a pixel circuit, a driving method for the pixel circuit and a display device including the pixel circuit. In the pixel circuit, when the data is written to the storage capacitor, the threshold voltage of the driving transistor and the data voltage are pre-stored in the storage capacitor by means of a diode connection formed by the driving transistor, so that the drift of the threshold voltage can be compensated effectively, and thus the uniformity and the stability of the driving current are maintained. Further, in the embodiment of the present disclosure, the scan signal for the pixel circuit is multiplexed in the touch circuit, and the coupling capacitor in the touch circuit is charged simultaneously while the storage capacitor is charged, and thus, the integration of the touch circuit into the pixel circuit can be realized perfectly without increasing the complexity of the circuit structure and the operation thereof.

  • Patent number: 9563275
Abstract: Disclosed is a display device including a display unit to display at least 3D object having different depths, a touch sensor unit to sense a touch input on the display unit, a tactile feedback unit to generate a tactile feedback corresponding to the 3D object, and a processor to control these units. The processor enables a tactile feedback function. If the touch input is sensed, the processor determines whether or not a first touch position as a position of the sensed touch input is within a first display area of a first 3D object having a first depth. If the first touch position is within the first display area, the processor regulates the first depth to make a first surface of the 3D object coincide with a surface of the display unit, and generates a first tactile feedback corresponding to the 3D object.

  • Patent number: 9542009
Abstract: A knob or joystick apparatus detects gesture based actions of a user's fingers and/or hand. A user grasps the knob or joystick and moves the knob or joystick in either rotational direction, e.g., clockwise or counter clockwise, moves the knob or joystick horizontally/vertically or any combination thereof, and/or presses or pulls the knob or joystick in or out. Capacitive sensors are used in combination with a digital device, e.g., microcontroller, for detecting, decoding and interpreting therefrom various gesturing movements. A user may grasp a knob and either moves his/her fingers in a rotational, horizontal/vertical, and/or in/out movement(s) along an axis of the knob. During the motion(s) of the user's fingers, portions of an outer covering of the knob are deflected inwards toward capacitive sensors, wherein the movement(s) of the deflected portion(s) of the outer covering are detected, decoded and interpretations are made therefrom of various gesturing movements.
