  • Patent number: 11624258
Abstract: A fail-safe method to cement a section of casing string to a formation is provided. The method includes providing the casing string in a wellbore, the casing string comprising a stage tool, a packer, and a sensor. The packer is located vertically below the stage tool and vertically above the sensor on the casing string. The method further includes pumping cement down the casing string and up an annulus to an expected height, the expected height being a vertical distance above the sensor, and detecting a presence or absence of cement with the sensor. If the sensor detects the presence of cement, the stage tool is kept closed and the packer is kept deflated. If the sensor detects the absence of cement, the stage tool is opened and the packer is inflated.

  • Patent number: 11619127
Abstract: To monitor hydraulic fracturing operations, an acoustic insulation tool acoustically insulates a wellhead installed at a surface of a wellbore. Multiple acoustic sensors attached to the wellhead sense acoustic signals generated responsive to operation of hydraulic fracturing components. The components perform hydraulic fracturing operations within the wellbore. The acoustic insulation tool acoustically insulates the wellhead from acoustic signals generated by sources other than the hydraulic fracturing components. The multiple acoustic sensors transmit the sensed acoustic signals to a computer system. Using the received acoustic signals, the computer system monitors the hydraulic fracturing operations performed within the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 11585204
Abstract: A crash avoidance system or crowding avoidance sub (CAS) may be a dedicated or adapted subassembly (sub) in a bottom hole assembly (BHA), such as somewhere above the motor and bit, or between a drill string and BHA. With data lines in a modified housing and flex lines for relative, linear, axial motion between movable parts of a single sub, sensors are contemplated to put a CAS ahead of a cushion, jar, or shock sub, even a motor. However, sensors are best connected to an Intellisys™ data connection system providing a data stream to a computer on the surface. Certain preprocessing may be done down hole, but need not be. Control of the drive system of the hook feed rate is directly controlled in real time by a data station receiving, and operating based on, certain information received from the down hole sensors of the CAS.

  • Patent number: 11560761
Abstract: An axial linkage acting between the main body and the gripping assembly of a tool for gripping tubular workpieces includes a drive cam body that coaxially engages an intermediate cam body via a drive thread, with the intermediate cam body coaxially engaging a driven cam body via a driven thread, and with the drive thread and the driven thread having opposite orientations. The linkage includes a latch mechanism for preventing relative axial displacement of the drive cam body and the driven cam body. In operation while unlatched, the linkage converts bi-directional relative rotation into relative axial movement of the drive cam body and the driven cam body, thus increasing or decreasing the overall length of the linkage according to the rotational direction. The linkage can be re-latched using any of multiple operational sequences.
